Kinsa Smart Stick Digital Thermometer – Medical Thermometer with Fever & Health Tracking for Children and Adults-Old Model

When we had our daughter we asked nurses and doctors what is the best thermometer to get. We were surprised that no one could give us a clear answer. Our friend actually recommended the Kinsa Smart Thermometer to us and we are so happy he did. This thermometer is awesome! You can take temperatures 3 different ways; underarm, oral or anal. And it saves all the information on your phone! So if you end up at the doctors/hospital you have all your temperatures, times, symptoms with you. No more unsure answers! You can make profiles for your whole family too. It is easy to use. Just download the AP and plug the thermometer into the headphone jack. It has a bubble popping game while you're waiting for the temperature to read, which is under a minute and a great distraction for squirmy toddlers. The profiles has Sesame Street characters and my daughter loves it when Elmo talks to her. I definitely recommend this thermometer and the price is great! Before we found this one we were planning on spending $50-100 and there was no profiles to save your information to!

Finally, a digital thermometer that works! According to my last 5 digital thermometers (oral and ear type), I'm in a constant state of hypothermia and should be dead with a temperature of 94 to 95 F. I've had constant problems with digital thermometers- the biggest issue is that I get readings that are artificially low and undependable, plus the batteries are always dead when I need a thermometer the most. One time, a brand new digital thermometer said our son had a temperature of 102 F. That's high, but not so high as to freak out. I took him right away to the doctor anyway because he seemed so ill and was stunned to learn his fever was actually 104.5 F. A traditional oral thermometer works, but it takes too long to get a reading when you have a sick kid, plus it's hard for me to see the temperature (especially at night) as I'm getting more far sighted.

The Kinsa Smart thermometer is priced reasonably, so I decided to buy it and give it a try. I downloaded the app and easily set up Kinsa on my iPhone 6s (that runs on iOS 9.3.2). Kinsa is fully compatible and gives a fast, accurate reading that's easy to see on my iPhone display. The morning after I set it up, I took my temperature and got a reading in about 10 seconds of 98.2 F. I went to my doctor the same morning, and the doctor's office got a nearly identical reading of 98.0 F. Kinsa seems spot on and is easy to use, and it requires no batteries. Plus, the price seems fair at under $20. I suggest getting it set up for each household member (it can keep track of multiple people) before someone gets sick as setup takes a few minutes. I'm more than satisfied with this purchase as Kinsa gives a fast, accurate and easy to see reading and is also priced reasonably. I definitely recommend the Kinsa Smart thermometer.

PS: I bought MABIS disposable probe covers to keep the germs off the Kinsa. They're a good fit and so much easier than having to sanitize the thermometer after each use.

10/02/2016: Kinsa still works great after updating my iPhone 6s to iOS 10.0.2. I've had no issues and am still 100% pleased with Kinsa.

11/28/2016: After the update to iOS 10.2.1 on my iPhone 6s, Kinsa still works perfectly. 9/28/2017: Still perfect after the update to iOS 11.0.1.

1/21/2018: Bought an iPhone 8 (iOS 11.2.2) and Kinsa works perfectly with it (though I now need to use the Apple adapter included with iPhone 8). I was really ill last week and used Kinsa every day to confirm my fever and track symptoms. It was a good reference for when I finally was able to get out of bed to see a doctor, and the Kinsa temperature reading matched the reading at the doctors office.

A friend of mine recommended this product to me and I have to say how happy I am that I ordered it. My daughter had her tonsils and adenoids out on July 10 and I couldn't imagine not having this product the first five days, post surgery. I am an iPhone user and set up was super easy. Creating individual accounts for each of my family members was also very easy. After my daughter' surgery, she had a low-grade fever and I need it to stay ahead of the medicine to keep her comfortable. I loved how easy it was to take her temperature and keep it logged. I loved even more the fact that it would remind me every four hours to alternate her Motrin and Tylenol. The Smart stick got me through a very difficult week and I would recommend this product to any parent for any situation. I 💗 Kinsa!

Not the highest quality thing you'll probably come across, and personally, I wouldn't be completely confident in its accuracy. Would be much better if it actually accounted automatically for its temperature reading depending on how it was measured (mouth, armpit, or whatever). For this reason, a dedicated thermometer which gives an estimated reading of your actual body temperature (not just where measured), or just otherwise consistent in this regard with a provided reference in which you can be certain, would be better.

My personal rating would be three stars, but that would be biased - not really reflective of the product itself (or furthermore taking into account the price). Seems good enough for general use I guess.

This has been the best purchase! It is so easy to use! Highly recommend it for any family. Would make a great baby shower gift that will actually come in handy for a long time! All you do is down load the app. (My husband has an Apple iPhone and I have an android worked for both devices) Then plug in thermometer and it sends the reading right to the phone tells you what type of fever lets you put in symptoms. It will also tell you if the child is to squirmy and the reading isn't good! It is a huge relief as a mom to not have to guess! I have owned 2 top of the line thermometers and hated both of them due to inaccuracy! I can't recommend it enough purchase this thermometer its wonderful!

We ordered this a couple of months ago, but finally used it on my baby niece and it was very easy to use and a cool/innovative device. There are so many baby thermometers out there, but this one is slick and enables tracking, which is very helpful as my brother and sister-in-law want to make sure that the baby doesn't get sick.

The package design is small and we weren't sure where the instructions were, but you have to open up the back of the box, like a battery compartment, and there you'll find the USB thermometer stick and a paper with instructions. After downloading the app, there are a couple of easy tutorial videos (which were super helpful), you plug in the thermometer in the phone, and then stick the other end into the baby. It was simple and the ready was fast - there's a progress bar at the bottom that shows you how long it is taking.

Overall, a great product and looking forward to seeing how it holds up overtime.

Love this product. Works great and the bubble pop for the kids is a life saver on your phone. Thank you. Keeps track of all the times you used it, who you used it on... fantastic.

I’ve had this thermometer for over two years now. I use it every day to keep a log of my temperatures for my primary care and for my cardiologists. It makes it easier to keep track of my vitals because I don’t have to write anything down. I just plug it in, check my temperature, clean the thermometer, and move on. If anything I’m just looking to replace this with the wireless kinsa thermometer because he new iPhones don’t have an audio jack so I’ve had to use an adapter.

A great concept and very well-made product! It puts all the capabilities of a smartphone in the palms of your hand at a very reasonable price. I definitely prefer to use and hold such a nice design in my hands to a cheap plastic thermometer. Interestingly, I recently found and bought a smart cooking thermometer on Amazon that is very similar: it connects to a smartphone or tablet and needs no batteries. Additionally, it can show the temperature and play alarm on a second smartphone or tablet which is connected to the first one over WiFi or Bluetooth. I definitely recommend this smart medical thermometer and also the smart thermometer for cooking. I bought this thermometer to keep track of my families regular sickness. My kids get sick every few months with colds, flus, etc, as most young kids do. It's hard to keep straight what time they had a fever, who vomited when, when they last used the bathroom, etc. I really enjoy using Kinsa thermometer and the app because I put everything in it and it records each child's temperature and symptoms for me with the tap of the screen.

Another plus, the bubble game while you wait for the 10 seconds while the thermometer takes your temperature is great for those little ones that just can't seem to sit still for 2 seconds. I definitely recommend this product to every parent or caretaker out there with a smart phone.

One more pro, it doesn't take a battery!
