I saw someone on YouTube use this and it looked fairly straight forward and easy to use. So I hopped onto Amazon to order some and saw all the bad reviews. I almost didn't buy it. But decided that I would give it a try for myself.
And I'm glad I did. I had no problems whatsoever. It printed beautifully (I used my HP laser printer with clear transparencies setting). Putting on the sticky film was not the nightmare everyone said it would be. And I did a full 8.5 x 11 sheet the first time. I peeled only a small portion back, put that part down and slowly moved my fingers and an old credit card down the images making sure I had no bubbles. The white backing rolled back on its own as I worked my way down the page. Then I burnished it well with the credit card, cut out the image I wanted, and it worked as well as any store bought rub-on I've used.
I think if you follow the directions, use the photo or transparency settings for printing, and take your time putting the sticky paper down on the image, it should work. Also, make sure you print on the matte side, not the shiny side or you will get a smeared mess.
I was really hesitant to purchase this item after reading the reviews posted as not many of the reviews seem to be happy with this product, but I needed an item that was cheap compared to other products I was finding so I just took the risk and purchased it anyway. I was not disappointed with this item! I followed the directions exactly with the only change being the printer setting as the directions say change the setting to photo paper but the closest I had was "heavy paper." All my designs came out perfectly because I was patient with following each step and became familiar with each piece of film provided as it looks confusing at first when first opening the package. I would definitely use this product again. I think if there were any issues with this, it's either the printer, the printer settings, or not becoming familiar with the film and the different sides it has as each side is for a different purpose in creating the rub-on.
I have a lot of experience with rub-ons. I've been making personalized frames as gifts for years. It was really hard to find exactly what I wanted when I was trying to buy premade rub-ons. Especially matching designs to fonts. When I saw this product I was really excited. It has been a real blessing when making my frames. I was concerned from other reviews that I wouldn't be able to figure it out, but I did, you just need to read the instructions carefully. It was really no problem to learn how to do. Remember to print in reverse or your image will be backwards. In my version of Word, to do this you just pick "t-shirt transfer" as the type of paper. I didn't give it 5-stars because I've had some issues with bleeding. There is sometimes a halo of ink around the image. I can usually cut most of it off.
I needed to print some labels on wooden panels, and was having no success at all. The labels were just black text, but they needed to be printed in an old-fashioned, highly ornate font. Cricut machines looked promising, but none of the fonts were ornate enough. I found a computer font that was just what I wanted, but the question was, how to print the label on a wooden panel? I tried using iron-on transfer paper (the kind that is used for t-shirts), but when I tried to iron it onto wood instead of cloth, all it did was smear. I also tried decal paper and the clear film that's used for glass. None of them worked on wood. I was about to give up when somebody told me about rub-onz.
Rub-onz worked almost flawlessly. It's a slightly more complicated process than the iron-on papers, but I was able to transfer my inkjet printouts to an unfinished oak panel and the results look perfect. The only tricky part is the last step of actually transferring the image to the wood - sometimes it doesn't want to stick. But I found that if you start peeling the backing from a corner, once you get it started, it will transfer. If when you peel the backing off and the image sticks to the backing, just put it back down - apply more pressure and try starting from another corner. Eventually, one of them will stick.
Worked exactly how I wanted

I never knew such a thing existed! I love these. Very easy to use! As long as you can tell which side is the proper side to print on you won't have any issues, but even if you print on the wrong side...the ink wipes right off!! Loved them!!
This works on painted wood. That is the surface I have used it on so far. It's kinda tricky, but once you figure out how to use it, it works well.
Perfect! I use these to do cool nail art. :)
Fantastic product - does just what it says. A little tricky to learn to use, but opens up all sorts of creative opportunities for producing rub-ons of words and pictures. Be aware that you will have an outline of whatever you are rubbing on, and need to cut around very carefully and close.
This product Is wonderful. I Use it to personalize wine glasses and it does the job perfectly
