I rarely write reviews, but this is the best kitchen gadget I've gotten in a long time. I love to chew on crushed ice all day - helps increase my water intake, and I've loved crushed ice since I was a kid. The ice dispenser on our old fridge died, so I was searching for something to use until we get a new one. Tripped over this, and read a lot of reviews, and was helped greatly by a few people who mentioned the consistency/texture of this ice.
Prior to this, the best ice I had ever come across to crunch on was the ice you get at the hospital (not familiar with the Sonic restaurant ice several people mentioned), but this is even better to me. The cubes are essentially like little, hollow bullets. I always pick the "small" size (can make either small or large ones) - I assume the large ones are just maybe thicker. But the texture is almost like compressed shaved ice. Perfect for ice chewers, as it still has the crunch, but is not hard on teeth or dental work at all. It's a little harder when it first comes out (but even then I think it still wouldn't harm teeth), but as it sits for a few minutes, it becomes even more awesome.
It is super easy to use and makes ice pretty quickly, too. I fill it up with approx. 9 cups of water in the morning, and then just add water periodically during the day. It makes around 10 cubes each cycle, but it makes them every few minutes and they build up fast. It is also very easy to clean/maintain. At the end of the day, I just unplug it and drain any remaining water (there is a little plug on the bottom), dry out the inside with a towel and then leave the lid up overnight so it dries thoroughly.
I don't want to ever be without this! Even once we get a new fridge, I will continue to use this for my ice. It is also so easily portable, you could take it or set it up anywhere - wouldn't have to be in the kitchen. You could set it up on the porch in the summer, or take it in a camper or to a hotel or whatever. I have already told several friends about this thing, and they have ordered them too!
This machine keeps us in ice constantly. It's easy as pushing a button to get it to work. So glad we made this purchase.
I purchased this ice maker for the wet bar in our basement as I was tired of running upstairs every time I wanted a drink or refilling an ice bucket when we had a party or friends over to hang out. It fits nicely on out counter and makes ice quickly. I only turn it off when we are going to be out of town; otherwise it's always making ice and ready to go anytime we need it. If you use the large ice cube setting the ice tends to last longer before melting. I did purchase the 3 year protection plan for it, but so far so good with no issues. I would highly recommend this ice machine.
Since we are in a rental home we didn't get to choose our refrigerator and ended up with one that doesn't have an ice maker. After months of buying bags of ice and having it take up valuable freezer space we decided to get one of these after talking to a friend that has one. It is absolutely worth the money spent to have my freezer space cleared up and to be able to make as much or as little ice as we need! No more frantic trips to the gas station when we have company over and are low on ice. The ice cubes are a nice size and there is no worry of spilling the tray of water on the way to the freezer with the typical ice cube trays. I love that we can take it camping and also to anywhere else we move to. Good quality and exactly as described, I didn't have any of the problems that other reviewers have had. Would highly recommend for anyone that rents, camps or has a fridge that doesn't make ice.

So far, so good. Works very well. We purchased this ice machine as we have run out of room in our freezers for ice trays. We don't use it 24/7 but at least daily and it appears to be strong and a real workhorse.
The only downside it, the fan is plastic, and appears to be a some kind of a computer fan. It squeaks every so often and we have concerns that the ball bearings may go bad in the future but it's still a 5 star product.
UPDATE AUGUST 2, 2018. Well, the icemachine is very good but this morning i fond a design flaw. The see through window!! The window is made of plastic and it consists of one piece on the outside and one piece on the inside. I appears that the one on the inside has a tiny seal on it. The inside window tends to fog up a bit however, this morning I noticed a speck of mold forming between the upper window and the lower window. there is no way to get to it. The machine is cleaned weekly as per the manufactures instructions. Today I mixed about 1/4th tsp of bleach to 2 quarts of lukewarm water.
I sure hope the mold does not spread as it'll ruin the functionality of the machine.
Am still leaving 5 stars as there is no 4.5.
This is one great little icemaker! Took it out of the box, washed it, filled it with water and *bam* here comes the ice! I always make the larger size ice and have been very satisfied with the consistency. If you're trying to make a large batch of ice, you have to stay on top of this - it stops when it's full. Just empty it and away it goes. I really like that there is no drain needed; the melted ice simply recycles into new ice. I highly recommend this product!
Another great idea behind this is the ice is stored right over the water reserve in a perferated container so if the ice melts at all it just drips back in the water reserve to be turned back to ice again. It also has a drain cap on the side to get all the water out of the system once you are finished using it. This is a great little product and I highly recommend it if you have a high ice demand like we do.

Update- after 5 months it died. I called onebigoutlet and they said they cannot help me. If you buy this amazing ice maker check more buying options and buy from Amazon vendor. At least they CAN help if something goes wrong. Worth the extra 6 bucks.
My husband and I decided to get one after we got one for our son and his fiancé for Christmas. We are an "ice using" family and absolutely love it. Ice is made quickly. We turn it on in the evening when we get home and make ice until we go to bed. One evening will usually last us a couple of days. Sure beats going out and buying bags of ice, and it is a pain to have to do so every couple of days. The kids love theirs and we don't know how we survived without ours. I do wish there was a way to keep what was made cold until we can get it into the freezer, but we place it in an ice bucket and usually dump it in our automatic ice maker. It breaks up the stuck together ones just fine but if doing by hand it will stick together so be prepared to break it up.
