Amazon Protective Cover for Kindle Voyage, Black

I wasn't keen on this cover because it opens to the top but decided to try it because I can see the value of being able to prop up the Voyage and read hands free. While I agree with Scott that using PagePress with the cover in stand mode may be awkward, using regular taps or swipes on the screen works fine. I can see myself using the Voyage propped up a lot.

The front cover is definitely floppy when you fold it over the top and the motion is somewhat awkward. However, once the cover is flipped to the back, it "locks" into place against the back cover to make the Voyage and cover one sturdy, immovable package. The feel holding it in your hand is somewhat different from that of the PaperWhite in the Amazon-brand cover because you feel more of the edge of the top cover but I think I will get used to it. It is definitely smaller and lighter than the PaperWhite and Amazon cover.

The inside of the front cover is comfortable in my hand. I like the purple color.

It's not a perfect case and it's pricey but I like it much better than the Belkin case I got and will be returning.

Edited to add: If you like to read during meals, this case makes it so easy! I didn't realize how much I would appreciate the easel feature, but it's so much better than reading has been with my PaperWhite propped up.

I just received my new Kindle Voyage, and two cases. This one, and the Bear Motion Premium Slim Sleeve: Bear Motion ® Premium Slim Sleeve Case Cover for Kindle Voyage - Red
This one works exactly as described, seems to fit well, and magnetically turns the Kindle on and off.
BUT - here are weight figures, measured on my postal scale:
Kindle Voyage: 177gm; Amazon Cover (this one) 133gm; Bear Motion: 38gm.
So using the Kindle with the Amazon case increases the weight a notable 75%. A significant difference, easy to feel.
I think for me, the additional weight to haul around (stuffed in my bag with everything else) isn't justified by the additional functionality of being able to stand up, and automatically turn on/off.
This Kindle is replacing my Paperwhite, which I used either by holding it in my hand (the weight difference between the old and new Kindle is a small but noticeable improvement) or propping it up on something on a table. I don't think I ever missed not having a stand built into the case.
I will of course try both out, and reconsider after a while. For now, I think the slim/lighter case is the one I will go with.

I initially wavered on buying this case for the Kindle Voyage because of the price and the fact that it opened from the bottom, like a steno pad. However, when holding the Voyage case-less, my fingers were too fat to hold it comfortably in one hand. I would have to wedge it in between my thumb and palm in order to not trigger the touch screen and be able to operate the PagePress buttons. Actually operating the buttons was uncomfortable and I got worried that I'd drop the kindle. I also wanted something that would turn off the screen when I put it away in my bag, so I bought this.

The Voyage with the case definitely feels heavier than without. Perhaps it's to the Voyage's credit that it's incredibly light without the case, and with the case, the unit feels solid and reaffirming. The cover is covered in this material that feels a bit soft to the touch, but also sort of rugged. It's nice and while I was kind of bummed that the leather version of this was sold out when I bought it, this is a good alternative.

The voyage with the case, at least to me, is easier to hold. I can fold back one corner of the front and hold that between two fingers, and have the rest of the unit resting in my palm, leaving my thumb free to operate the touchscreen or the PagePress buttons. The only real issue is how it fits in: sometimes the front comes up too short and doesn't overhang the Voyage, making opening it a little more tricky than I'd like.

I love this case. It is exactly what I wanted. The purple is bright and beautiful. It folds back and sticks to the back, flat, with magnets. That is something I wish all cases did. The origami stand is perfect. I read sitting at the table with it all the time and it works perfectly. I also love using the stand to read in bed with it standing on my mattress. That works great as well. I ordered my Voyage just days before the new Oasis was announced. This cover alone makes me not want to upgrade to the Oasis. I would miss the stand too much to want a case without it again.

The only complaint I have is that when the Kindle case is open and folded back the power button is covered. This is only a problem if you get distracted and your Kindle screen turns off. You have to flip the cover back over to press the power button again. It is annoying, but not worth dropping a star over.

I agree with the other reviews about this case that place it firmly at four stars. I miss the Amazon case they made for the Paperwhite goes around the Kindle and opens like a book; I'm not sure why they can't make a case like that for the Voyage. I got a couple of cheaper cases that looked like they would be like that but they weren't as high-quality as the Amazon case and seemed to fall apart with a lot of opening and closing, and also the turning on with the magnet feature didn't seem to work as well. This case, it appears sturdy and well made, and the magnet on/off feature is working really well so far. I do feel like it protects my Voyage well, so that is good. I'm just not too crazy about the top-opening and I don't think that I'd ever really use it hands free because I'm a fast-reader and page through constantly. I guess I'm also old-fashioned enough that I like holding my Kindle like a book!

I really like this cover! It's light, not bulky and offers full protection to the Kindle. I love that it turns it on/off upon opening/closing of case. Some people said they didn't like how the flap opens over the top of the device but I don't find that to be a problem. On my previous Kindle I had the type that unzipped and opened to the left. I always tucked it behind the device in order to hold it with one hand. This one is slimmer than my previous one so once you flip it back, it doesn't take up a lot of space behind the Kindle. It's magnetic so when you flip it behind, it will stay put. If you want to stand this one up, it does it easily and will even work with it standing up in the bed. Again, the origami piece is magnetic so the piece that comes together is magnetic & the bunched up portion magnetizes to the back of the case. I have no issues with it and yes, it was a bit pricey, but I think it's a great cover. I carry it around in my purse and it's a slim case that doesn't weigh the device down. I would recommend it for the Voyage.

I prefer reading without a case on my Kindle, and occasionally prop it up to read a recipe or whatever hands-free. I almost didn't buy this because it adds so much weight to the deliciously small and light Voyage. But luckily, this case is just what I needed. It protects the device, has a stand, and it slips in and out of its case fast and effortlessly. I wouldn't trust it to hang on to the device if it went flying like a frisbee. There are shallow sides and strong magnets of this size can only do so much. If you're going to read with the case on sometimes and hate the added weight, I strongly recommend using a Y-shaped hand strap (I use TFI Hand Strap Holder Finger Grip for Kindle Voyage). I returned a straight strap from the same manufacturer "for Voyage" after discovering the bottom clamp will push the device off the magnetic cover. It did work well sans case. Hand fatigue from the case's weight is greatly relieved with the strap.

I got this case mainly because it stands up the Kindle and i enjoy reading without having to hold something up and tire out my (weak) arms.
It is nice but i don't think the quality of the material is really worth almost $50. I've noticed a lot of lint easily floating to it and sticking to it over time. That's a bit annoying. It doesn't seem to add that much weight to the Kindle Voyage, but it still gets a little heavy. There is difficulty standing it up on a glass surface, but i suppose that can't be really helped (unless they made the button rubbery).

This cover is lightweight and wonderful. It securely stands my Voyage at the perfect angle for table-top reading. The magnets in it are quite strong and hold securely in the position desired, whether that's open, closed, or as a stand. The flip over the top to open function, while different than a book is no worse. The magnets are the right strength to hold the voyage securely, while still allowing it to come out easily enough. The trick is to pull the voyage out from the top edge. The materials this is made of do not feel like leather to me. The outside has a bit of a texture and is grippy enough to hang onto if you carry this around with you. It is an expensive cover, but well worth it.

I really like this case. It is easy to use. It is brightly colored so I can find it in my bag. I don't find it all that heavy (weight) but if you do, you can easily remove your Voyage from the case while reading. The fold over the top style works fine for right and left handed readers. I like that it can be stood up while you are reading if you need it. If you don't, it lays flat. My Voyage just about jumped into the case because of the magnets. No cumbersome snaps, flaps, Velcro, etc. Perfect for my needs. I read some unfavorable reviews about this after I ordered it and before it was shipped but I thought I would wait and see for myself based on my needs. I am so happy I got it. I love this thing!
