Upright GO | Posture Trainer and Corrector for Back | Strapless, Discrete and Easy to Use | Complete with App and Training Plan | Back Health Benefits and Confidence Builder

First, it is rare that I review anything. The item has to be really good or a huge rip-off for me to bother. But when I was looking into this product and reading the reviews here, I almost decided to pass on this one based on some really negative Amazon reviews. After more research elsewhere I decided to go ahead and get two of them, one for my wife as well. We are both athletes in our 60s and are continually getting on each other for slouching. We needed something like this!

The short story: My Upright Go does exactly what they claim. So...5 Stars! (Wife has not started yet).

DETAILS:

If you are thinking of purchasing this item 1. You MUST READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!. If you hate instructions, don't buy it, and 2. It would be very helpful to have access to a smart phone to set up the device. Yes, you can use it without a smart phone as they claim, but it is not optimal, as they warned! I used my wife's phone to get the app and dial in the device. Took me about three sessions to really figure out how to set everything for home use, then office use. Totally different settings! But I COULD settle for a happy medium if I had no more access to a smart phone ever again. The phone I used is an iPhone 4G and the app is not supposed to work on it, but it is perfect.

If this device shipped without the app, or I didn't have even one friend with a smart phone to set it up, I'm thinking my rating would be much lower, maybe 3 stars. I don't like the factory setting at all, unless I was only sitting in front of the TV or desktop PC. Then it would be OK out of the box. Moving around a lot doing everyday things, forget it.

Now for you folks complaining about the glue. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! My Upright Go is stuck to my back right now as I type this - SEVEN straight days with the original sticky patch still working great. Grab an alcohol swab and wipe the spot on your back, then dry with a clean paper towel. Really rub well with the paper towel. Don't touch the sticky with your hands and always store it IN THE CASE when not in use. The inside of the case is made from special plastic material that does not affect the glue at all. Unless you have crocodile skin or some kind of snail genetics the thing is going to stick for a week at least with each glue strip. Obviously, if you are a Bigfoot, you'll need to shave that spot. There is even a way to clean the glue if it gets dirty.

HINT:

For home and office use I set the device buzzing pattern to Long and Sensitivity (how far you slouch before you get scolded) to 5 or 6. At home, I like a 10 to 15 second delay before the device buzzes me. At work I need at least 20 seconds delay. Without continued access to a smart phone I would set the device at 20 seconds and be happy with that home and office. Out of the box it was set at 5 seconds - NO BUENO! This would drive you mad.

GRIPES:

If I were sitting in church the buzzing would sound like a jet landing. At work when I am moving around a lot, I can't hear it and often can't feel it. You can fix the church part by setting the device to Tracking which kills the vibration, or just turn it off. If you don't have a smart phone the tracking mode does you no good anyway. Tracking just keeps recording posture data so you can see how bad you slouched all day next time you use the app. There are a few different setting for Short, Medium, or Long vibrations you choose from through the app. Short is really just a tap, long is like a cell phone buzzing.

EFFECTIVENESS:

After only one week I can tell you something with 100% certainty: Your posture will improve WHILE YOU WEAR IT for sure. Long term? I don't know yet. But I don't care. If I have to wear the thing a few days a week for a year it's a winner.

THE UPRIGHT GO WORKOUT:

The app gives you goals to hit starting at 5 minutes and ending at 20 minutes over the first five day period. I wore the thing for several hours every day my first week and had no issues. Your muscles will get tired and my abs got sore after two days but I have no ill effects. I am a serious athlete so I do everything in excess anyway. I have no fear that this device will hurt me with overuse. Eventually my "good posture muscles" get tired and I just call it a day at that point and return the device to it's pouch.

CONCLUSION:

Best if you have two or three days access to a smart phone to set up the device. You only need five minutes of phone time a day to do this. Maybe a coworker can help if you don't have a partner at home. And for Pete's sake...READ THE DANGED INSTRUCTIONS!!

DISCLAIMER:

I have no affiliation with this product or the makers of this product. In fact, I never even heard of it until a coworker recommended it about one month ago. Hand to God, this is not a faked review. I am wearing the thing right now.

Cheers!

This thing is great! I've had it for about two weeks.

Pros: It's very easy to use, and importantly - very low profile. Even with tight-fitting ladies' clothes, when you place it between your shoulderblades there will be no visible outline. You use the smartphone app to calibrate the device. You can set the sensitivity of the device, which changes how much you need to slouch for it to vibrate. This is great because if you need to, for example, hand-write, then you will have to bend your neck down a little and by reducing sensitivity this won't cause the device to go crazy. Also you can set the delay for how long you need to slouch for it to vibrate - this is also great because in real life, you sometimes need to bend down to a desk drawer and then don't want the device to start buzzing. In terms of effectiveness: it really does know when you're slouching, and my posture is improving even when I'm not wearing it! (i get a creepy "phantom buzz" when I slouch and am not wearing it, like when you think your phone vibrates but it doesn't...). Note though that initially you may only be able to wear it and sit up straight for 10-15 minutes, it's hard on the back muscles at first.

Drawbacks (fixable though!): the adhesive is absolutely useless - but there's a simple and cheap solution. I recommend getting double-sided skin tape; every day I cut off a small piece of the double-sided tape, and at the end of the day dispose it. It shouldn't be more than a few dollars for a several meter-roll, so that solves the adhesive problem. Another thing to point out is that there are three settings for how the device vibrates (short, medium long). The long one is pretty loud and if there are people nearby they will hear it - think of a phone vibrating when you get a text. Same goes for the medium vibration. The short vibration might take one or two vibrations for you to notice it, however it has the benefit that it won't be audible unless you're in a very quiet room. So for example, I turn my GO to "track only" when I am in a meeting, but in my relatively quiet open plan nobody notices anything - plus people would think it's a text vibration. The device does sometimes disconnect to the phone which can be annoying when you're trying to look at the app to change settings etc, but usually fixes itself within a few seconds.

Overall gets top review from me because while there are minor nuisances, I am really noticing very positive progress in my posture, and this isn't the first method I've tried!

I am a graduate student that spends a great portion of the day typing or researching at a desk. This product delivers the quality service as promised. Very sturdy and discrete. I forget to remove and accidentally wore it while showering and it continues to work. Very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend the product to others.

This is the best thing I've discovered to help with my chronic (decades long) neck, back, and shoulders pain. I've always had soreness and tension in that area and have always had to get frequent massages. I want to get to the root of the problem, rather than having to rely weekly massages. Not to mention that having poor posture is extremely unattractive. I spend long hours at the computer at work, and despite my ergonomic setup, I was still experiencing neck/back pain. I saw this thing advertised in my Facebook feed and I'm so glad I gave it a try.

This thing is super simple to set up, the UI is very user friendly. I found the sticky to be very long lasting as well; I've had it for about a week so far without any problems. Once I stick it on, I completely forget that it's there. One thing though, I'm always afraid it'll fall off during the day and I'd lose my $80 (like if it gets caught and snagged off by my hair or clothes). If they could develop a better setup, that'd be ideal.

The training mode really "snaps" me into an upright posture. I like the training mode as well because it's quite surprising for me to find how much I'm actually slouching during the day, even when I'm not at my desk and am taking a walk. I didn't realize I'm slumped most of the day as my "natural" posture. Having this thing on for several days in a row is now a great reminder for me to be upright. My back and neck pain has greatly reduced as well, and I'm super happy for this.

The first Upright Go I bought stopped connecting (syncing with) my phone after 2 days. I returned it and got a replacement from Amazon, which was super easy. The replacement now works great without any problems! I'm so glad that this thing was invented!

After all these years of terrible posture, I now have hope. After 3 days use, back muscles are a little sore. I can't wait to see how it will be in 2 or so weeks of daily use.

Description

UPRIGHT GO is a wearable device that trains you to improve your posture simply by vibrating every time you slouch. The UPRIGHT GO attaches to your upper back and gives you real-time posture feedback, reminding you to stay upright. The UPRIGHT GO connects to a mobile app (iOS and Android) that generates a personal training plan.

I was having severe back pain from my poor posture. I also have fibromyalgia so my muscles are really sensitive to painful stimuli and I get severe muscle spasms. I couldn't sleep, the pain was unbearable. My doctor told me the only way to relieve the pain was to improve my posture. I tried really hard to change and have better posture at my desk but I would revert to old habits. I purchased this wonderful device and my world changed. This device is super easy to set up and use. You will need to use your smart phone. It says to use iPhone 5 or newer but this works just fine with my iPhone 4C. The device and the free app you download on your smart phone work together. You set your posture everyday and wear the device. It tracks your posture and gives you a buzz if you are slouching while in the training mode. When I do not want the buzz, because I am in a meeting or doing something where I will be bending over often then I change to tracking mode. No buzzing in tracking but it will send a text if I am slouching. This thing tracks your position. Since it can only sense when you are bent forward, it will track as slouching even it your are bent forward tying your shoes, reaching in the lower cupboards, etc. This has changed my life. I am getting less feed back (buzzing) while working at my desk, I am tucking my tummy more which improves my posture immediately. Best of all after using the device 4 days in a row, the severe pain in my back lessened and I was able to sleep at night. I was also able to reduce the amount of pain meds I was taking. The customer service is great also. I text them a question and someone answered very quickly sending me a link to some videos. They have great videos that help to explain things and they followed up to make sure my questions were answered. The adhesive lasts about a week. They send a little case and charging cord. The battery lasts about 12 hours, which is longer than I wear daily. Place the Go in the little case, plug it in and the next day it is ready to use again. I think if I left it out in the air, the adhesive would not last as long. It does not irritate my skin at all. The adhesive does not hold when I am sweating heavy, like when hiking on a really hot day. The case is very small and easily fits in a pocket or purse. I have been using it for about 14 days now. This device is really wonderful, it does exactly what it says it will do, and I am glad I did not listen to the poor reviews. (I suspect those people do not use with a smart phone, or keep it in the case at night.) Give this a try, it is simple to use but like everything, you must follow the few simple instructions for the best experience.

It is a little pricey for how simple the device is but it comes with great customer service and does what it does well.
My only issue with the kit is it does not come with enough alcohol wipes and additional stickies.

I think the Upright Go is effective partly because of the vibration when you bend or slouch and also because you are conscious of it resting in your middle back which is the part of the body you have to hold upright. I would suggest a downloadable manual though. It is a fairly complicated system. ......training versus tracking, when and how to use each mode depending on your activity, how to reapply the sticky stuff and how often, how long to wear it each day ( not all day apparently), how long a charge lasts....I could go on. I will say the app support is wonderful, and whenever I ask a question I get an immediate response.
Thanks I will stop! ⛹🏻‍♀️ Lynda

After a few days using the device and the app, I have to say I see a significant improvement in my posture and also noticed my back pain get better as a result. The device itself is small enough and discrete (I can wear it under most shirts and during work). The app is simple and super easy to use and helped me stay aware and understand my training process.

I recently got my Upright Go Posture Trainer and have now used it for 18 consecutive days. I'm a 73yo female with a history of multiple serious back injuries and purchased this product because I was becoming alarmed by my extremely bad posture.
I wish I'd known of this product long ago. However, I am pleased to say I do now have hope that I can correct my posture, perhaps to--or at least nearly to--the point where I have posture I can feel good about..
I've already noticed a marked change in the degree to which I am able to correct my posture--far better than I'd hoped for when I placed my order--and am able to maintain that posture for extended perioids. I'm much better on days when I'm feeling well, and still revert to very poor posture on days I'm exhausted, but even that's improving and it's early days.
I think the progremmed training periods are brilliant and very effective. Overall, I love this product and am looking forward to seeing how much more of an improvement I'll be able to achieve.
