I like it but...
When you use this case to stand the Fire in landscape mode, what are you most likely doing? Watching something (and most likely listening at the same time). But the design of the case has the speakers on the BOTTOM so the Kindle is actually resting on them in landscape mode. Makes the sound muffled.
Am I the only one this bothers. I did try standing it with speakers up (as one of the pictures seems to suggest is possible) but it won't stand that way unless I have it leaning on something. The cover alone will not support it with speakers on top
I debated between several cases and although I purchased from Best Buy, I definitely recommend this case. It fits the HD7 like a glove and protects it better than any case I saw. The built in stand works perfectly and offers so much more versatility then the others. Oftentimes, I go for the cheaper cases but In this instance, this case goes the distance. Worth the extra $$$. Have had mine for 3 months and still looks brand new.
This is a great case. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that you can't easily use the rear camera. There is a hole on the back of the case for the camera lens, but not in the flap. So if you have the flap open, so you can see the camera app, you cover the camera.
I had purchased, and still have have a return in process, for a third party "100% compatible HD7 4th Gen Fire Case" that does not fit at all. What a frustration to buy something and then have to return it. But this case is perfect. Everything fit. Every cut out, camera hole, power switch, everthing is perfectly placed.

When I bought my Kindle Fire HD7 a couple of years ago, I spent a lot of time trying to settle on a good inexpensive case for it. The one I got had a little bluetooth keyboard built in and was very bulky, so it was not the best for reading in bed, which is how I spend the majority of my reading time every day. I finally bought this case, and then realized that if I had bought it to begin with, I would have saved money in the long run. This is the perfect case for it! Slim, light, and stands up well in two directions. All of the needed camera, speaker, and access holes are in the right place, and the process for installing and removing the device from the case is easy, and secure... Because this case was designed for this Kindle, and nothing else. Lesson learned.

We have 2 Kindles in our house and I needed another case. I bought this because it was cheaper then the Amazon origami case. They are both basically the same, magnetic closer that holds the Kindle in place and puts it to sleep and wakes it up when opened and closed. But I like the origami better. It stands by itself better. I had the origami first before any other kind of case so I was a bit spoiled with the whole put it to sleep, wake it up feature. I bought a different case altogether and hated it, bought this one less then a week later. These cases are made specifically for Kindle so your power and volume buttons are never covered up. I found that out by buying a generic case. And with no straps that hold the Kindle in place (because of the magnetic thing) whatever screen cover you have on your Kindle does not get bunched, scratched, or torn. Also learned that with the generic case.
This is a great case for your Kindle, but I would probably by the origami again before buying this one.
This is a real secure case. The outside has a good grip and the inside of the flap is felt-like. It is a Smart Cover. So it wakes and puts the tablet to sleep. Also, since it's magnetic you can fold it to the back and it will magnetize to the back. The folding really comes in handy also. Over all it is a great case!
First off, what's really important is that this case comes in purple!
But seriously, it's has real substance to it, so I feel confident that it will protect my Fire from impacts. The stand-up feature is very nice; it's great to be hands-free, especially when I'm at a choral rehearsal and need to hold music and record what we're doing at the same time.
The only reason it didn't get five stars from me is that the main camera is useless when the cover is fully open and wrapped around the back of the tablet, so you have to hold it open and manage the camera simultaneously, which is awkward. Whether there's a fix for that which won't compromise the protective feature of the cover, I don't know, but I'd encourage the designers to ponder that for the next release.
I've loved this particular case for my Kindle Fire HD 7 and I am truly disappointed that Amazon has sent me the previous type of Kindle Fire recently and I demand that you rectify the situation by sending me what I have ordered with the warranty that I obtained so that I could have years to enjoy using my new Kindle Fire HD, instead, I have received the old version of the regular Kindle Fire with the case that goes with it and the warranty period of 2 years after the manufacturer warranty of 1 year. I need for someone to call me back and resolve this particular issue, because I spend a great deal of time on my Kindle Fire and I want what I paid for and ordered and nothing less will be acceptable to me!!!
I am sooo glad I made this purchase. It is awesome. Now one thing I thought the case was going to be yellow which it is not it is a sort of green. So at first I was not sure I was going to like but have since fallen in love with what this case does. When you close the cover it seems to be almost magnetic to the screen and holds fast....it also turns the kindle off...which is awesome if you are like me and sometimes forget and run the battery down a bit until it goes off by itself. and it stands and holds fast sake sort of magnetic thing when open to the back cover.
Compared to my old Kindle fire and old fire case this is state of Art technology. I really love it greenish color and all.
