My wife and I searched for a functional washer-dryer for our Cedar Creek (very large) fifth wheel RV that would fit the OEM closet for a washer (it came fitted for one, but didn't have one in-place). With an RV, size is critical, and few make a decent 'resident-style' washer-dryer that is small enough (<2.5 cu ft) that will fit the small closets aboard. So, after WEEKS of research on this...comparing over 100 brands and sizes (and configurations), we settled on the Westland-Splendide WDC7100XC model (same company makes both Westland AND Splendide models). We went with the Westland simply because it came in Silver, where the Splendide was a white colored unit.
NOW...HERE'S THE HEADS UP ON THIS:
First off, you BETTER have some help putting this in! This thing is HEAVY! The crate was marked 147-lbs, but even after unstrapped from the crate, it felt like it weighed 200+ pounds! This thing is a BRICK when it comes to weight! If you are going to fight this up tight stairs, or corners, or heaven-forbid, into an RV closet...MAKE SURE you have help (I don't think Godzilla or the hulk could put it into a tight space by himself!) A HAND TRUCK will help move it and position it...but if you are like us, where the closet only had 1-inch of clearance on 3-sides...2-people and a hand truck are A MUST!
Secondly, get better hoses when you order it!!! The ones it comes with have PLASTIC necks between the hose and couplers...both ends...so after some hot water, a bump or hit during an out-of-balance wash cycle, these are going to get THRASHED and you're going to have swamp-soup wherever you placed the washer-dryer. Don't be cheap, opt for some solid stainless hoses with steel or brass coupler necks!!! It will save you MASSIVE water damage later!
Third, READ THE OWNERS MANUAL...2-3 times, before you EVEN TRY to use it!!! It requires a 'pre-wash' to get the assembly lube out of it, to start with...DO THIS! Secondly, it needs a dedicated 15-AMP 110V circuit! That means when you flip the breaker in your breaker box in your home, THAT ONE BREAKER ONLY GOES TO THAT ONE OUTLET you plugged it into! The good part is, all the functions go through that one connection cord...so one breaker is all you tie up (not two, where one goes to the washer, and one to a dryer)
Don't get frustrated once you have it connected...the manual says 'start a load on 2, nothing else...bit of soap...run an empty load' (that pre-run first-load I mentioned)...well, what the manual doesn't tell you is that in assembly at the factory, they've already started it and ran it...and it is in mid-wash already...just set the dials like the book tells you to, and start it...mine started in the middle of a spin cycle...so I let it run, then I ran it again like they said, with a '2-setting wash cycle'...empty...and all worked well. Great test-load, and made sure there was no assembly grease in my first load! NOW, the clock timer function is reset where you'd expect it to be reset...don't return it, just assume that 'first load' is not a complete run the first time...let it finish, then run it again to make sure it is now 'in-cycle'.
Next...unlike a big residential unit...the dials don't 'auto-turn'...they are VERY manual, and once set, the computer inside does time and advance everything...but you don't have a really good way to see 'where the cycle really is at' except through a small bank of four LED lights...sorry, but that's all you get on 'indicators'...the dials aren't broken...they just don't move...it's 'not that fancy'...
All this about the 'door lock' feature in the comments here is killing me...not really sure why everyone is wanting to go digging around in their laundry loads while they are running, to begin with! Seriously people, load it, add soap, set your load, and start it...THEN LEAVE IT ALONE! Yes, the door does lock...no, it does NOT hold your clothes 'hostage' with the door lock once done...it INSTANTLY releases when the dry-cycle that YOU CHOOSE has finished! If you don't like a long dry cycle, then set a short dry cycle...it's that simple! Get an idea of 'how dry' you want, and set it! Last night, we ran a FULL LOAD of underwear, bras, socks, etc. and the wash (set on 7) ran for about 40-minutes, then dry ran for about 1-hour...end of cycle, you hear the 'unlock' of the door, and guess what? The door INSTANTLY opened...and out came warm, fluffed, clean clothes...so less than 2-hours (READ YOUR MANUAL, NEW OWNERS!!! Lot of good information in it!)
Like with all washers-dryers, you have to learn 'how dry do I need to set my settings' in the beginning of 'new ownership'...but once you got that figured out...well, it's not rocket science...after all!!!
I can't recommend this washer-dryer enough! I've seen them on some other larger RV's and a lot of Trawler-Yachts at marinas....but it is absolutely PERFECT to greatly reduce your 'laundramat' loads to one load quick runs! We mainly run T-shirts, underwear, bras, washcloths, etc. in it...with all the 'heavy stuff', like bluejeans going to our 'big laundramat' load...we kinda figure that it will greatly help extend the life of this machine. It's not that it's wimpy or light duty...but it is a 'small unit' of 2-cubic feet...and not some 'big, heavy duty industrial unit' (and even they break down, you know?)...so...see it for what it is, learn how to use it properly, and appreciate a well-made machine...we do!
I'd highly recommend this to any and all friends and family!!!
I am so happy with this company and my Westland washer/dryer! First off , the customer service is phenomenal. I had not even received my shipment and they were already helping answer questions so I could prepare my fifth wheel. The istaall was super easy too. Works beautifully and washes/ dries beautifully. I know a lot of people complain about wrinkling, but I keep my load small as suggested and had no issue. Very happy with this company and my Westland. Highly recommend.
I read the reviews, solicited the advice of fulltime RV'ers, compared brands, prices, and options. IMO, this is the top of the line ventless combo out there. We put in 3 pairs of pants (cotton), 3 shirts, 6 undergarments, 3 pairs of socks, two wash cloths, and long sleeve shirt, pushed the buttons and about 2.5 hours later, everything was clean and perfectly dry. I have a 5th wheel toy hauler and it is in the garage. It didnt really move during the process, but I went ahead and ordered the floor brackets so it stays out while we are towing. I love love love this machine. Well worth every penny.
It’s a two in one what a life saver! Wasn’t sure about it being ventless, and now we’ll can’t rave enough about it! Happy camper!
This is a great product see my other review. Buy an additional sensor activated pump pan by Elp. Elp Pan stand reduces vibration.

this is very heavy. Wife bought dryer balls so the clothes don't come out so wrinkled. She enjoys having it in the RV. The first time it went to spin cycle I thought California was having another earthquake. Now it is a joke when she does laundry.
For all the doubters out there, (I was one too), this washer\dryer unit does work really well. I had a much older unit in my motorhome, and the drying part of that machine left a lot to be desired. These new machines, ventless, really do dry the clothes. I am amazed. 45 minutes and dry. Clothes are very hot when removed from machine, much like a separate electric dryer. Sure wish I did the replacement sooner.
Washer/dryer all in one combo platinum works great. My wife and I put two whole changes of cloths in when we wake up. We go shopping and grab a bite to eat, come back to the rv to find our cloths completely washed and dried with no problems. I spent the extra 200+$ and got the added two year extended warrantee on top of the already two year warrantee costing around $1,550.00 or so total for a four year warrantee.
I installed the unit which was as simple as just screwing the hoses on and plugging the washer/dryer combo into the 110v wall socket. I'm not sure why some of these reviews say the machine is trouble. Seems like dumb operator errors to me. The machine also does just washing or just drying too.
It does come with an owners manual so maybe these people should try reading that before messing with it. The absolute only down side that I can think of about the machine is it does cause a small vibration while spinning however i would say it's less then my trucks Diesel engine (2006 cummins) idling in the driveway so barely noticeable while inside. I have the ventless model and I can say yet again after 120 minutes drying that the cloths come out with a little steam which dissipates after just half a minute or so but dry. Actually we had to turn down the drying time because the unit works so well. It weighs 148lbs in the box which I handled myself and scooted into the small cubby in the rv. The outside metal of the unit gets warm when drying but I can still hold my hand on the unit without needing to remove so it's not that hot.
I work with deep foundation Micro/Augercast piles and shot-crete (grout and concrete) in all 48 states. I've had my cloths in all types of mud, dirt and everything else that's out there. I shake my cloths hard outside before putting them in the washer/dryer combo and we wipe the inside of the unit down after each load. It takes about 3-4 hours per load depending on the dry time you select. It does use a lot of water (18 gallons or so I think was what the manual said) but it goes into our grey water tank which can just go on the ground at most places we stay at that doesn't have a sewer.
All in all I suggest this unit to anyone needing to save space and doesn't like to hunt for a laundry mat.
Be smart and do a couple loads a day. Shake your cloths out if they are really dirty. Wipe the inside of the machine out really good (just near the porthole mainly). Don't add too much soap! Just a table spoon of HE Gain will do a whole load. Hope this helps!
Was looking to purchase new unit Sunday at a Camping World because we were there with our RV. Asked sales person to give me some time while I see what the reviews were online. Came to Amazon first and read all the reviews. Ended up purchasing the unit, have run 5 loads through it and it works great. Able to wash & dry or wash (or) dry separately. Very well worth the money if you are a boater or Rv'er and have limited space but want the ability to launder clothing. The loads do take a little longer to dry as this unit is not vented. Been using the Low Heat setting for the dryer as the clothes get very hot with normal Heavy Duty settings. Still playing with the different settings to reduce the increased wrinkle factor due to clothes being washed and dried in such small drum. Very efficient use of water, was able to do 3 loads of laundry, dinner dishes, and shower before my Grey Water Tank filled. Although its only been 2 days, the convenience is very worth the money and have no regrets.
We needed a combo condenser type unit for our apartment as we have limited space, no laundry hookups and no exhaust vent for the dryer. After weeks of research we decided on the Splendide 7100xe-pla as it had the best ratings across the board. We have now had this unit for 3 trouble free years and enjoy is immensely; simply put in your dirty clothes in the morning before you go out and return home to clean AND dry clothes. This washer dryer combo is very reliable, not a single problem in three years and does a fantastic job at washing clothes. Kudos to Splendid for an award winning product!
