I am super happy with this product. While it isn't great for getting off tough messes, like burnt pans, it lasts much longer than a traditional sponge. In addition, I hated the way other sponges would get stuff stuck in them, leading to bacterial growth and funky odors. You get none of that with this. For light-duty cleaning, this is a phenomenal product. I only wish I had found it sooner!
This is not a scrubber sponge. Nothing sticks to it because it is slippery so it has very little scrubber ability whatsoever. Also it does not hold water, so it is really not great for mopping up spills either. However, it has 2 great things that go for it: If you need to clean out sticky things like sauce pans, peanut butter, fats, etc. Not only does it do a great job cleaning those kinds of things, but it is super easy to clean out afterwards. Just rinse it under water. Secondly, if you use it for cleaning up after raw meat or something else like that, you can rest assured knowing you can stick it in the dishwasher and it comes out like new.
Kuhn-Rikon promotes their silicone scrubber for washing dishes like a sponge without harboring bacteria. Honestly, I think it's more difficult to grip than a sponge and doesn't have enough contact with surfaces. It isn't abrasive enough to scrub pots or crusty dishes. Fortunately, I didn't buy the silicone scrubber for those purposes. I bought it to scrub vegetables without shredding their skins. It's soft but does a better job than my bare hands. The flexibility that would annoy me if I tried to wash dishes with it is perfect for wrapping around veggies. And the scrubber dries quickly and easily and without a burgeoning bacteria colony.
Sur la Table used to sell these, but now their silicone scrubbers are stiffer, bigger, with a more abrasive surface on one side. That might be better for dishes, but scrubbers like this one are better for vegetables or anything delicate. The scrubber is 5" x 3.25" x 0.5" at the widest points and has a loop at one corner for hanging. It boasts 5,000 silicone bristles (I didn't count them). You may or may not like the scrubber for washing dishes. It lathers fine but doesn't hold the soap for long. I find it a bit slippery, but I always wear gloves when washing dishes. I think it's the only way to go for veggies with soft skins though. And it makes a great fidget toy –tactile without being prickly.
I got this a few months ago and there's a debate about it at our home. I love it because this thing will probably last forever (saving me money and great for the environment), it will never smell, it stays nice and clean without effort. I just couldn't stand the gross and wasteful old scrubbers. Plus it looks nice!
My husband on the other hand hates it because it won't leather the soap as much as traditional scrubbers and it's on the gentle side. The way I wash dishes is I have a little dish with soapy water that I can dunk it into every once in a while (saves a lot of soap), and I have a rough brush for sticky leftovers, so for me its perfect!
These are great for doing dishes and clean pots and pans really well. The only thing is they aren't very good for wiping down counters and the stove. Not like a sponge so you don't wet them and wring them out the same. So I use the scrubbers for everything and keep a sponge to wipe down my counters. Actually it works better because now the sponge lasts much longer.

Like the fact that I don't have to keep throwing away sponges. It cleans itself off immediately. No more dirty sponges next to the sink. Yes, it does take time to get used to it. And, if one cleans like I do - putting the soap on the sponge and cleaning each dish individually rather than filling the sink with water and putting the detergent into the water - one will likely use more detergent since it doesn't hold the soap as well as the cellular-type sponges. But, I got used to it and am very satisfied with this innovation. Recently purchased another version by the same company that has a 'scrubber' side. It has additional benefits. But, this type, for me, will be a staple next to any sink. Recently purchased more for myself and as gifts.
I've been on the lookout for something other than those moldy sponges to wash dishes and came across this. I almost didn't buy it because of other's reviews, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. Of course everyone is going to have different expectations, but this is about as honest as I can get:
1. It is a soft product, not a Brillo pad, and as such it is not going to scrub all those dishes with dried-up, caked-on food that you were too lazy to clean last week. It's pretty simple though - I have this for general washing and a scrubber for heavy duty stuff.
2. Not sure what the 'lack of lather' issue is that some people have unless they are using that cheap, watered-down dish soap that doesn't really lather anyway. It lathers just fine for doing the job, but if you hold it under running water the soap will easily come off, not soak in like it does a regular 'sponge'.
3. No moldy, nasty smell - which is exactly why I bought it.
4. Those who are fascinated with the 'feel' of this thing, apparently it's not just your dishes that are dirty! ;)
This silicone scrubber is easy to use, clean, & put away. It can fold/roll up & go in the dishwasher. Looks exactly as pictured. It works great on non-stuck on items, It doesn't scratch materials. I wash out my sink & scrub kitchen items that I've just finished with-e.g. my dogs bowl that sit overnight & have dried food in the morning, I've got to use my fingernails or a different scrubber to get this done. Doesn't remove stuck on food!! It functions more like a sponge in my home
This is crazy, but my son has ADHD and he fell in love with this at a cooking store. He uses it as a fidget. He lost is original and he was devastated. We purchased one for him and one for me and we are back in the game. I have to admit it is mesmerizing to play with. Its super quiet so no disruption to class or work. I took one to work and my coworkers borrow it. The lady at the cooking store also advised its good for washing your face, getting pet hair off your clothes and for its intended purpose which is washing dishes. We will be buying more.
It is not advertised as this, but this scrubbie is better than facial silicon brushes in my opinion - I like that the bristles are longer.
Doesnt do a great job as a dish cleaner, decent at scrubbing veggies
