Kuhn Rikon Kochblume Spill Stopper, 11-Inch, Green

Finally becoming tired of cleaning up spill messes on the stove, we purchased the medium sized Kochblume. As advertised, it does control spills, so we have not had to wipe up the mess since. I liked it enough to also purchase the small size which better fits my 2 qt sauce pan. It is very easy to clean since the inner flower easily detaches so there are no places for food to hide. While I am sure it would be cleaned in a dishwasher, washing by hand is very easy and fast.

I have also found that it is a good substitute for a plastic film cover for raising bread. It hold in the humidity. I have has the bread raise to the cover, but it doesn't seem to stick to the silicon.

As for some of the complaints of other reviewers, I have not had their problems. While I would not try to look under a cover when it is over boiling (and defeating its purpose), I do check the contents of the pot and stirring by pulling the little handles over the cover. The cover will protect you from steam burns. As for dripping when it is removed, I just lift it over the pot so most of the liquid falls back in. I have not tried it for fried foods since I think it would keep too much moisture in the pan with the flower in place and too much fat out of the pan with it removed.

Love this thing! My husband does all the cooking and can’t say enough about this product! It ALWAYS works! And he is famous for leaving pots on high boil unattended. One big problem, is when he has to take it off to stir the pot contents. Where do you put it? It is hot and wet, so you have to have a large plate or surface available to set it while you stir. One small issue is cleaning it by hand. The grooves on the back can get crud in them, but this is minor, if you use a sponge to get at it. I have bought these for girlfriends and have had rave reviews from them too!

I'd seen it before in stores. I thought, "Whatever, how's that supposed to work." It was recommended on one of my favorite cooking podcasts, so I gave it a second consideration. I've owned good and bad stuff from Kuhn Rikon so I know when they get it right, they knock it out of the park. I bought it. It works. It works great. No more spill overs while cooking pasta. It is amazingly easy to clean; just run it under some hot water. Another great Kuhn-Rikon product.

This attractive cover works wonderfully as a quick lid that won't let contents spill over as easily more conventional toppers do. It's lightweight, attractive, and easy to hang close by. Be careful when taking it off, as it can drip, and there is no rim to catch drops.

I am so happy with both the small and large one. These are the best products for my pans. I had so so many spillovers and they really do work. You just leave the center in there when boiling things etc.

I have also used it for splatter guards (frying things) in which I remove the inside flower looking thing so now I can get rid of my old splatter guard I have now with the handle.

They store right on top of the pots so they do not even take up any extra space. I know they are little pricey but worth every penny.

Wow wow wow I have no words to describe how great this product is I'm a mom with a large family that cooks and bakes all the time there is never a time that something doesn't spill over even when standing and watching the pot but with this life has just gotten easy I think I'm throwing out all my pot covers after using this I am mess free
Thank you for such a great product

This kitchen gadget is Fantastic!!!!!
I used it to par-boil some ribs and there was no "boil over" the pot !!
Also used it to boil some corn on the cob and no "boil over" there either.
I mix milk, water and sugar to boil corn on the cob. This would always have to be constantly watched
to be sure it would not boil over and make a big mess.
By using this Spill Stopper, when the mixture boiled up, the Spill Stopper caught every bit of it.
I wondered if these things really worked and this one DOES !!!!!!!

I was a skeptic initially, but this thing really does quell the boilover problem. It rides on top of the pot, and the flaps do a good job of collapsing the bubbles as they froth out. It's not 100% infallible (pasta or rice that is very coated with powdery residue can still sometimes cause enough foam underneath that a little escapes), but for the most part it does its intended purpose well. We now have two of these for the different sized pots we most often do any boiling in.

I thought I would give this a try, and I'm so glad I did. I rate this a 5 star because it does exactly what it is supposed to do - keep things from boiling over. The only drawback I saw, was that with spaghetti (that always needs to be stirred every once in awhile) I found I had to raise it straight up, let it drain a bit into the pan, and stir the spaghetti, then put it back down. For things that don't need to be stirred, i.e., potatoes, veggies, it is ideal. This product does what it says it will do and the price on Amazon is so much less than other places I have seen this. In-store they are around $25.

I like this product so much I have given it to friends and family as gifts. It works as described to keep water and sauces from boiling over onto your stovetop. Instead, it boils up through the "petals" and stays contained until it flows back into the pot. That said, I don't let my pots boil over for a long period but until I notice that my pot is boiling it will be fine.
