These are a must have for getting full utility from the ergonomic feature of the keyboard and should have been included.
But I'm not dinging them for that, my complaint is the constant (as in, every few seconds) collapsing during use if set to anything other than the lowest elevation.
You're going to have to find the elevation you like then permanently fix them in place with some mechanism.
A simple lock that fastens like the mounts themselves would have been sufficient.
EDIT: Welp, when you're wrong, you're wrong.
There *is* a mechanism to lock the legs in the intermediate position. It's even labeled. I mistook it for a label indicating the mount point for the kit itself, and it takes a scary amount of pressure to lock it, but it's there. So, making this a four-star now. I'd go five, but it is a little pricey for what it is.
One star knocked off the top for this not being a part of the product at base. A huge part of the ergonomics for the keybpard itself come from the tilt - from not crossing your arm bones (pronation I believe it is called) - so you’re losing a lot of the premium value of an “egronomic” keyboard to begin with if you exclude this. It should just be packaged with the main product at a lower overall cost.
Other than that, I love it and the keyboard. Work exactly as intended, and have saved my wrists especially.
Simple and easy to install: they just snap onto the keyboard (and can be removed with a quick pinch). There are 3 different height settings, or you could put it on top of something like a book in order to tent even higher. I personally use the highest setting, but it's easy to change between them simply by rotating the legs.
Essential for my wrists, and it feels great! I would absolutely purchase this again.
Cons:
1. It slides easier than I would like on my keyboard tray... Fixed by adding a plastic adhesive bumper to my keyboard tray to keep it in place. Also, I keep my keyboard tray at a slight negative angle, so this is not really kinesis's fault. See photo
2. Factory wrist pads are too thin for me... fixed by cutting an old standard wrist pad in half. See photo
The kit works great, feels solid and improves typing comfort. My main issue with it is that it's expensive, and this is on top of an expensive $200 keyboard, and it's just two simple plastic pieces.
Feature Product
- Compatible with freestyle edge keyboard (keyboard not included)
- 3 adjustable tenting angles of 5˚, 10˚, and 15˚ (palm supports required)
- Highly stable platform with no bounce
- Quickly adjust between levels without detaching the lift kit
- Lift kit offers incredible comfort for maximum performance and stamina
Description
Attach the Lift Kit to your Freestyle Edge to “tent” the keyboard 5˚, 10˚, or 15˚. Tenting the keyboard puts your wrists in a more natural position which reduces hand and arm strain. Use the Lift Kit for maximum comfort during extended gaming sessions or normal typing. Once you tent, you’ll never want to use a flat keyboard again!
It works, but its slightly flimsy and wobbles a little. Decently satisfied, the keyboard is great but the stands could be slightly better.
I bought this with my Freestyle Edge Split Gaming keyboard and the combination has relieved the pressure on my fingers and wrists.
I have a bunch of keyboards, but always use the Kinesis because of how comfortable it is with the tenting attachments. There's just no going back from a split board with tenting IMO.
A must have accessory for the keyboard. For the price this should have already come with the keyboard to begin with.
A bit pricey for some plastic chunks, but they work great and fit perfectly.
