I use my thread rack for hair braiding. It is a HUGE time saver! After the very first use I was in love. I don't know how I managed for so many years without it! I definitely plan on investing on a bigger one in the future.
I have been using this spool holder as my primary thread storage for about a year and I have no complaints. I was looking for a cheap, attractive way to store a large amount of thread I had recently acquired from a thrift store, and this spool holder delivered.
Specifically, I love this thing because...
--It holds ALL of my spools on there perfectly. I use a variety of vintage and modern threads, so I need something that has lots of room for wider, old-fashioned wooden spools. This allows for that, easy peasy
--It has been used HEAVILY for the past year, and it shows no sign of wear and tear. I'm a pretty fast sewer and I change colors a lot so I needed something that didn't need to be babied. Trust me, you may not think you need a secure and sturdy spool holder but you do.
--Sitting on my sewing desk, it doesn't take up much room at all. This was a biggie for me. Furthermore, if I had pegboard up in my sewing area this thing would be great hung up on it, the angles would still work for spools.
--Finally, my favorite thing! It holds 60 spools of thread, but I only regularly use 28ish colors, so I use the rest of the holders for key colors of embroidery floss! I read about using spool holders for embroidery floss once, so I tried it and it works! Just wind the skein around something smallish like a pill bottle and put that on the peg! I even put the skein's band with the floss color number on the peg so I know what it is!
There are a few downsides to this spool holder, though. You won't be able to put a bobbin on top of the spool when it's on the peg. I use a bobbin holder to store bobbins, but if I was really desperate I would use these and put the bobbin on first, then the spool on top. The spool may be a bit wobbly but it'll stay on there. Also, the wood is unfinished. If you live in a damp house or sew in a basement, you may want to varnish this somehow.
This is my second thread organizer like this, it is so awesome to have all my thread so organized and easy to find just at one glance, no messy thread tangles. I put command Velcro on the back and can now attach them to my wall and remove them whenever I need to. It is well made. Highly recommend this product.
Definitely a good product, well spaced for average sized (500yd) spools. Found the exact same item at Wal-Mart for $5 less. Would return it but not worth the $ in shipping to send it back. Somewhat flimsy but if you're not moving it round, it does the job just fine. For it's function and use, 5 starts. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. Just wish I checked other stores locally.
It worked! I got this for my washi tapes (not thread) and it works perfectly. It makes much more sense than the actual washi tape dispensers or even storage units. The tapes are all quite visible and easily accessed. It sits on my work cabinet and almost looks decorative with all of the tape colors and designs on display.

I bought this rack after I inherited a large collection of thread. I was a bit disappointed by the quality - it is kind of wobbly and the wood is very thin. Having said that - it does the job. You can probably find one that’s better quality, I just didn’t want to deal with returning it and finding another one. It works and isn’t terrible.
Bought this product to use while braiding & it’s great. Sturdy and has held up well so far.
Love it! Of course it works as pictured, but I just put the stands back and hung it up so my cats won’t eat the string. Of course I had to install my own little hook to do so, but I love it! It’s totally unfinished wood so you could easily paint or stain it, but for me the birch feel looks nice.
I got this to hold hair for doing my braids, and it worked amazingly! I mounted it on a door with command hooks and it held up 60 sections of hair no problem. Cut down on the time it took me to do my hair, and I'm really pleased.
I was trying to come up with ideas on how to keep my reloading components out of bins and drawers and make them more visible and organized. I have it loaded down now the picture just shows a few of the items I have on it. Its a great organizer
