I have nothing bad to say about these bulbs. I just had to write a 5 star review because I see so many people writing negative reviews and I think it's a shame. These work with Google as well as Alexa. They throw nice light. And I haven't really had any problems with them at all.
I think a lot of the negative reviews are from people having trouble using it with the 2.4 Ghz wifi setup. Another thing that I think people are upset about has something to do with the Geeni app itself. The only trouble I ran into there was something I had seen in the reviews. And it had to do with setting up a sunrise/sunset scene. It seems all the city choices were in Chinese (Something I'm told they're working on.). That shouldn't have been a problem because it can just go off of your location instead. But in my case I had to manually go into the app's permissions and enable location sharing. The app never asked me for that when it ran :-/ But after doing that, I had no trouble with the that setup. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong!
Another thing I like about the whole Geeni setup is that you have access to your bulbs, plugs and cameras all from the same app. Although I've only got a couple of bulbs and one camera setup at the moment. Ordering a few plugs next :-)
Unlike many other products that claim to work with Alexa, this product does just what it says it will. I purchased a variety of different branded products at Christmas to try them out, and all work well with their own application, but only a select few worked flawlessly and consistently--or at all--with our Amazon Echo and Google Home. It will dim or brighten any light you name, in any room of the house, from any Echo that can hear you. You can tell Alexa or Google Assistant to turn on all the lights, or turn off all the lights, and every light in the house controlled by a Geeni plug or bulb, responds immediately.
Some of the other product brands...sometimes yes, sometimes no. Sometimes the others "get lost" and you have to go through the process of having Alexa and Google Assistant re-discover the device and re-add to the list of controlled devices. Or it doesn't remember the schedule you set for on and off times.
This one simply...works. All my smart bulb purchases since have been this brand, and I've yet to regret.
You'll want someone more tech savvy than your great grandpa, but overall there's not too many steps that you can't get this figured out. I thought the set up was going to be a 2 minute process but it took a little longer with all of the steps. The app is easy enough to use and I was able to pair it just fine. I was hoping it would be a little bit brighter and the dim function is useful.
These light bulbs are awesome! They seamlessly pair with Alexa and I can tune them on and off with voice control, and through the app I can put them on a schedule and the best part is that they connect directly to your wifi network no hub required to work with Alexa! Easy to use and a great value toward making your home a smart home
I've only had these a short time and their longevity is going to matter a lot. In six months I'll write another review but as of now I'm very pleased. I like being able to adjust the lights with my voice through my Google mini, and I like being able to turn the lights on from my driveway on my phone

When I first received the bulbs I could not get them to work correctly on the automatic schedule. After a week I finally found a comment that suggested updating your router and/or getting a new router if your current on is old. I was ready to return these bulbs and deem them useless, till I updated my router. These are great bulbs for a beginner and if you keep it simple with scheduling and remote activation these bulbs will work fine. I bought two.
I bought two of these to start with. They arrived at my door about 10 minutes ago and it was so easy, I already downloaded the app, plugged in the bulbs, synced them with the app, and set up timers. The dimming and on/off works instantly as you select it on the app. The app is nicely designed, super easy to use, and looks great. Don't worry when you first plug the bulb in and it won't stop flashing! It's not a connection error, the bulb is just waiting to get synced in the Geeni app. These bulbs do not require any sort of hub which is great. I researched the other smart bulbs and even the ones that seem like they don't need a hub, actually do. No need for one more "box" in the house- just get these. I just ordered 3 more and will probably get more. Immediately obsessed!
Very awesome to have controllability with lights. It works VERY well with Alexa WITHOUT needing one of those modems to link to. It's not as bright as I thought but buying a couple more should do. Great price in comparison to other smart bulbs. Buy one today !
