I previously ordered a GelaSkins product for my Kindle and loved the quality and the ability to stick the individual printed keyboard letters and function key skin decals on as well if one wished to (they stuck on just fine and did not fall off even after months of use). But the GelaSkins print I chose was too distracting for me when I read from my Kindle, so I decided to purchase the DecalGirl Library print. I like the style very much, but I think the quality of the GelaSkin was a tad better/thicker and easier to put on (GelaSkin is made of 3M ControlTac) and unlike the GelaSkin, the small keyboard cut-outs on the DecalGirl sheet had no QWERTY letters or function names printed on them (at least not on the Library style) which was a dissapointment to me. Since I have read that the letters printed on the Kindle's keyboard wear off with lots of use, it would be a great option to cover them (at least the BACK, HOME, and MENU buttons) even though it involves a little more work to put these individual pieces on. I guess DecalGirl didn't think that some people would have liked that choice. The FORWARD and BACK page button decal pieces have arrows printed on them, so they do have the ability to print letters and symbols on the DecalGirl skin. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase as the print is very soothing on the eyes when I read from my Kindle.
I purchased this item less than a week after I received my kindle. I too thought it was the perfect design for the kindle which I believe is a library you carry with you. The picture was great and very detailed. As for the protection issue that seems to be in debate right now, it won't protect from inpact, however it will protect from scratches, and signs of normal wear and tear that happens to any item you use often. I even used some of the tiny stickers that fit over the buttons. As soon as I learn to type with my thumbs without looking I will finish using the rest of them. I believe they will keep the wearing off of the letters from normal use that always happens. Because of this I gave it a 5 star for protection. Taking these precautions will enhance the resale value of my kindle should I decide to upgrade in the furtue. And if I use it til it dies at least it will still look good on the outside.
This product does what it is designed to do. It will make you item look good and protect from signs of normal wear and tear.
I think if I had only seen it packaged and in a store I would not have bought it. I don't know how to explain it, but it looks cheep and boring behind slick plastic... I had visualized something glowy and rich.
However, once out of the package and applied to my kindle it began to look exactly as I had expected. Yes, it's just a pretty sticker, but I like things that are pretty.
This sticker, Library, does a great job of visually reminding me of what I've always loved about buying and borrowing books, but allows me to embrace the convenience of an e-reader. I love how it is designed to have the glowy lights above the screen, instead of just a replication of the pattern from the back.
I want more decalgirl 'stickers'. They were so easy to apply, I am sure I will get more to fit my mood.
I ordered this 'skin' for my new Kindle because I admit--I saw it and couldn't resist the koolness factor. I liked the artwork and thought it would give my Kindle a personalized feeling. It seems a bit high priced but I certainly do not regret buying it. The artwork is really quite neat, the product itself is well made and fits the Kindle pretty well. I advise you to take it slow when applying it (it works much like applying a screen protector) and to have patience. It took me about 15 minutes to apply both sides of mine (the front being much more 'difficult' than the back since it had a myriad of holes in place to fit over the keyboard section) but it looks quite nice. I've used my Kindle daily since I received it approximately a week ago and I have yet to see any of the skin start to peel (even on small pieces like the forward and backward page buttons). It sticks well and makes me feel comfortable about protecting the body of the Kindle from scratches. It does not, however, cover the 'edge' of the Kindle where all the buttons are. The skin is also not padded in any way so if you are looking for a padded cover I'd recommend going with something else.
Even though the price is a bit steep I would definately consider buying another of these skins when I get tired of the current print I have.
I could not be happier with this Kindle skin. The decal fits very well on my Kindle (3G + Wifi edition) and was extremely easy to apply. I have a lot of fine motor issues with my hands and did have to peel it off and re-stick it in a couple of places to get it to fit just right, but that was very easy to do. Once I smoothed the decal in place, it fit very securely and I've had no instances of corners or edges peeling up at all after a couple of weeks of fairly heavy use (reading, carrying it around, taking it in and out of a sleeve, etc.). I love the design of this skin, too. The old-fashioned, dimly-lit library is very atmospheric, not to mention symbolic since that whole library is now contained in my Kindle!

I'm writing because I have seen some negative reviews on these types of Kindle skins and I want to set the record straight! I purchased the matte finish "Library" skin and must say it is beautiful and classy and fits very well over my new generqtion Kindle. It protects all the areas that might be scratched in every day use. Easy to appy, it does not go on like a glove, but in two separated pieces - front and back. It is very smooth and does not add any bulk to the Kindle. So far, the skin has been doing its job in style. Unless you roll in the dirt with your Kindle, the skin is a great way to personalize and protect your special reader!
I received this skin today and I am very pleased with it. It looks very good and was extremely easy to apply. When I first put it on, it was a little off on one side so I pulled it back off adjusted it and tada...perfect. It is exactly what I was expecting and I am vary happy with it.
Now for those that are looking for something to really protect their Kindle...this is a vinyl sticker. It will protect against little scratches and will hide fingerprints on the back and front but it will not protect it from dropping and other more serious issues. If you are looking for that then I suggest something else or you will be disappointed. I also have a padded carrying case to put my Kindle in to protect it when I am not reading it.
I had recently purchased my Kindle and starting looking at skins. When I started looking at skins the Library theme was exactly what I was looking for but did not expect it to be practical. I was wrong. This matte finish Library Skin was of excellent quality and very easy to install. I guess the only issue with this skin is that everytime someone sees it they absolutely love it and want to hold it and talk about it. Not a bad problem to have. I will never own another e-reader without owning another one of your skins. Thank you.
This product is really cute, and EASY to apply. In total it took me 2 minutes to apply everything, and it has stayed in place very well. I just wanted a skin to keep from scratching it, and it is working very well. If you are wondering, the feel is a matte finish, smooth and gives enough grip for the kindle, it is a thick feeling sticker, and I am perfectly fine with that because I don't do a lot of traveling with it. I really enjoy the print and I will be keeping this cover for as long as possible.
I chose this skin, because of its nice, classic look. Of course, having a bookshelf skin on a digital reading device, only made it even more appealing. It was very easy to apply and fit perfectly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the brown is so dark that you have to look closely in order to see the individual books. I also have a cover, so I think that doesn't help. It's one of the things that does not benefit online shopping: you can't see it in person. I might buy a lighter colored skin in the future.
