Atlas Waterproof Case for Kindle Fire HDX 7

Fits the new Kindle HDX perfectly and secures it in its own cocoon. You also get an awesome warranty with it, that it can when used properly and sealed be underwater for 30 minutes up to 6 ft (I think) and should survive a drop of 4 ft. If it doesn't, the case comes with an application you put on your kindle that you can file a claim with.

I have seen keep looking cases in Walmart, Shopko and Target for significantly.more money and are not even made for this model, but say they are. This one rocks, and a great color selection. I picked purple. Very easy to use the volume and on off switch through the plastic case. Just perfect.

A lot of the reviews of this device make you wonder if they are even talking about this product.

The ratings for this device were bad but I thought this case looked interesting anyway so I got it.

Pros:
Very attractive
Makes playing games a lot more fun because the case fits so well in your hands. Try Asphault 8 or Minecraft
Waterproof and they give you a 1 year replacement warranty so if your kindle breaks due to water exposure they buy you a new or refurbished one plus a new case

Cons
It was difficult for me to figure out how to get rid of the air bubbles but all you do is wipe a little rubbing alcohol on your kindle then the screen protector and wipe it off. Then to make sure no watermarks appear you wipe your finger accross the whole kindle and whole protector screen

I want to crticize the other reviewers for a moment since they are petty petty (not being redundant) reviews.

A lot of people are talking about how its a pain to take it out of the case. Why would you want to do that? I would think you might want to clean it. Thats pointless since the case is airtight and dust and water do not get in. Other reviewers say they only want to use the case for the water then switch back to another case. Its a very nice case and it fits very nicely in the hands. And the case is also shock and dust resistant. It takes me about 20 secs at most to dissasemble the case if you really want to change cases all the time... The other reviewers make it sound like case installation is harder than integral calc. I am sorry it doesn't slip on like a sleeve but its supposed to stay on for a long time and not be swapped back and forth.

Another reviewer says you lose touch sensitivity. Yes you do. Instead of getting 10/10 sensitivity without the case you get 8-9/10 with case on. Not bad. Playing games couldn't be more fun with the grip and you still don't need much touch. And if you just read books then it doesn't matter... You touch the screen once every 2-3 mins. depending on your reading speed to turn the page.

Another reviewer said its bulky... With case on its still smaller than my ipad. And like I said it fits better in the hands. The kindle was too small to begin with.

Conclusion:
The only difficulty you will experience is getting rid of air bubbles. But once you do my method you will have no more problems. That is why I gave this product a 5. Its very attractive, makes it so much easier to hold and if it doesn't keep your kindle waterproof they buy you a new or refurbished kindle. So you have nothing to lose.

The other reviewers think cases are meant to be swapped out several times a week; a case is meant to protect and this is the best case. No reason to switch.

YES, this case is perfect for outdoor activities. It keeps out rain, sweat, condensation, and water from swimming pools, lakes, rivers, fishing holes, swamps and waterfalls to salty ocean waves. It is easy to wipe off sunscreen lotions and sprays, sand, dust, mud, bugs, fishing bait, pollen or just plain outdoor grime. THIS CASE IS ALSO PERFECT FOR INDOORS! Not just for bubble baths, though. COOKING with your Kindle cookbooks WITH THIS CASE ON YOUR KINDLE lets you simply wipe off flour, sugar, olive oil, panko or anything else that ends up on your Kindle (was that from your fingers, or did it just splatter, somehow?) CRAFTING, REPAIRS, LAUNDRY, CLEANING, MAKEUP, EATING OR DRINKING.... and if you have kids, EVEN MORE!

I really like this case, the colors, and the quality. The only thing is that even with the tip of wiping it down the screen with alcohol I couldn't get all the bubbles out. I loved that I felt secure enough to take it into the tub to read. Will love this when I travel, and if we go to the beach, or backpacking or whatever, I feel this case will hold it's own. I like that the company is so sure of their product they will replace your kindle if damaged. Don't forget to register though, or it won't be covered. Wish it had more color options. I have a 9 year old son, that the black would be perfect, then I have a 10 year old daughter, who would either have to get the black or the white/purple, which would cause problems with easily telling which kindle was who's. I don't want her to have the white because she's a kid, but the black is so boyish.

The case has a bumper and an inside locking plastic clam-shell, all made perfectly waterproof bu gaskets.

The good/bad is the locking of the case, but I doubt there is an alternative that doesn't work as well, or is bulky or something worse.

It takes some effort to open the case. But it is waterproof (close the usb and headphone ports). This means the preferred usage for this case doesn't have you moving it in and out often.

Yet the protection adds just enough bulk so it won't fit my pocket.

In the pool, kitchen, or bath, no worries. But it does lose portability. Though I would strongly recommend it for those times when you need the shielding.

Description

ATLAS™

After reading all the reviews both good and bad I decided to purchase this ATLAS waterproof case. I was concerned about all the negative reviews regarding the difficulty of putting my kindle in this case. I took the advise of many reviewers and I watched the minute and a half video on You Tube. And in less than,a,minute and a half I had my kindle in the case . My only complaint .....
Write down the serial number that is on the inside of the back casing before you put it together, otherwise you will have to take it apart when you go to register it for the warranty

This item is great. However, be warned that it is exactly as described - big and bulky. It is supper protective and has absorbed more than one fall without breaking. I dropped it in the sink and no water got into the Kindle.

I will say, my one issue is that the screen constantly gets bubbles underneath it. I can usually rub them out but have had to take the case apart a few times and clean it and press it flat before reapplying it.

Other reviews complain about how hard it is to open or the screen protector getting stuck to the Kindle screen. It is easy to open with the guitar pick they include, but you won't want to do over and over again. But it is most definitely secure. I don't hesitate to hand it to my 7 year old. In the tub. The ports are very stiff and solid. IT IS 100%WATERPROOF but the water will simulate touches on the screen. You will notice that the "oil spot" will appear on the screen from time to time but you don't have to remove the case. It will only happen again if you do. Simply blow into one side of the case and VIOLA! no spot and takes about one second. If you have kids, this is a great case. If you don't, this might be overkill but incipio covers one device replacement so be free and fearless!

Gave this to our daughter for her birthday. She loves the fact she can take her kindle underwater however you cannot use the touchscreen underwater. Silly you say, but the reason she wanted to do this was to take pictures underwater. We love the water. :) She ended up using the power and down buttons to take screen shots and used that to take pictures. Actually worked pretty well. Would still like to take them using the touchscreen or another button on the side. Something to think about Kindle...

The case arrived this morning and I've already ran it thru some paces.

Easy installation and seems to be water tight, at least in the bath tub '.

I got this solely as a waterproof case when needed...as an everyday case nah it's not for that and I realized that before I ordered it.

As far as opening and closing ditch the guitar pick and use a flat head screwdriver it's much easier to use.
