I have 5 of these. Have had them for several years now. I use them for temperature controlled, long term storage in an unfinished basement in New England. They are able to keep the temperature between 55 and 60 when the basement is at 75. I have never had the temperature higher than 75. I do not use the handles and I don't need the interior lighting or the see through front door. I bought these one at a time over a period of 9 months. I would buy more if needed. The price per bottle stored is good. They have been very reliable. I turn them off in the winter when the temperature drops below 60 in the basement. They are pretty quiet and there is little to no vibration.
They have all arrived with some minor problem that does not matter to me. Small dents, an LED that is out, slightly bent handle, small things like that. Since they were going into an unfinished basement I did not care about any of these.
I only have two problems. The first is that the temperature is not uniform across the interior of the unit. There can be a variance of several degrees. The second is that the LEDs displaying the temperature slowly fail so that they become unreadable. Neither of these matter too much to me since the temperature range is still satisfactory and I use other temperature monitoring equipment.
I think other people may also have a problem with the number of bottles that can be stored. If the bottle is even slightly different from a standard wine bottle then there may be a problem getting 28 bottles into the unit. None of my bottles are standard so I end up with about 24 bottles per unit. That still meets my expectations. Even at only 24 bottles sometimes they are very tight and I have to remove a row of bottles to get at the row I am actually interested in. This does not matter to me since this is for long term storage.
This is a nice wine refrigerator. Has nice lines. proportional door, shelving and bottles are tight, this a good thing, why refrigerate wasted space. The blue temp light looks cool at night. The interior light looks very cool, (only left on with guests staying overnight) lights room on way to bathroom and looks great! Holds steady temp as I have checked it with remote thermometer. Easy assembly, install handle and put shelves in!
Unit has slight hum but extremely un noticeable. You must be looking to hear noise for it to be outstanding!
I like everything about this unit. And over the years I have has many wine storage refrigerators. Will pick up 3-4 more in near future as I needed to see how one unit would work. ( Have rather large collection).
If you are considering a wine cooling unit, this is the one!
I received this wine fridge yesterday, so admittedly, there is still plenty of time for it to go haywire. Still, the fridge was nicely packaged and was in great condition when pulled from the box. My only complaint from a cosmetic standpoint is that the door is just slightly misaligned with the top of the fridge. The seal is strong, but aesthetically, it would have been nice for the top of the door to be perfectly parallel with the top of the fridge. Still, a small defect for a cheap wine fridge. I plugged it in last night and, despite the instructions saying that it could take 24 hours for the fridge to cool down to 55 degrees, it reached that temperature in roughly 1 hour. The trays fit standard-sized wine bottles nicely, and the temperature gauge only and temporarily went up a few degrees upon sliding in some room temperature bottles. Within another hour, the temperature was holding steady at 55 degrees again. Some reviewers said that this unit is noisy. If you stand right behind it, you can hear the fan running, but from most locations within my not-so-sizable kitchen, the appliance is essentially silent. It's certainly quieter than my refrigerator, which I have never considered to be loud by any measure. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, and docked it one star for the imperfect alignment of the door.
Got 28 bottles you want chilled? Here you go!
My apartment can "cook" wine in the summer and so a way to chill my reds is a must (I'll keep my whites either in here too and ice them before opening or I keep them in the regular fridge - no need for a dual-zone for me).
This fridge is wonderful! Note that it will take a while to get to temp. I was worried it wasn't working when I first got it because after about 5 or 6 hours the internal temperature almost didn't change at all. No problem! By about 12-16 hours of running it was the correct temp.
The only gripe is that Chardonnay bottles (Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chard etc...) tend to only fit if you give them a good shove! Sometimes it feels like I might break the bottle (haven't yet) and sometimes the label can scrape off (that did happen) so be careful. If you have a LOT of those style bottles to store, you might want to try a different fridge but if you have less than 50% those style, then you should be fine. About 40% of my bottles are those thick ones and I'm managing.
Happy with my purchase and the price was great. Keeps my wine chilled at ideal drinking temperature, was easy to set up and is very quiet. Only negative is that the door will not close when chilling some unusually larger champagne and 750ml wine bottles. This model is a little too large to use as a countertop appliance. Looks great though in a customized vented cabinet and gives the same higher end look of a much pricier built-in appliance without taking up valuable cabinet real estate. The "stainless" look matches most kitchen appliances.

Description
The Whynter SNO wine coolers offer premium quality and innovative design. Whether for the office, the yacht or home, Whynter SNO wine coolers are a center piece of any living space. This Whynter SNO Thermoelectric Wine Cooler (WC-16S) offers 16 bottles of wine storage capacity with vibration-free thermoelectric cooling. Many wine coolers use a compressor to provide the cooling function which generates vibrations that can easily disrupt the delicate sediments in fine wine. With the thermoelectric system utilized by the WC-16S, your wine is kept at the appropriate temperature and humidity levels without all that vibration! This cooling system has no moving parts and is CFC-free, which means that you get silent, long-lasting, and environmentally safe refrigeration for your collection.
1 month into ownership and loving the fridge! Bottles fit well. The lock will not stop anyone from really wanting to get into the fridge, but I will just have to tell my (adult) children if they break it, they bought it. There is a hum to the unit, but I don't mind.
Pay attention to the details regarding room temp. I live in AZ; when the a/c is on and set for 78 degrees the fridge maintains the temp of 52 degrees, but when windows are open and the inside temps reach 80, the fridge has a hard time maintaining temps under 54 degrees (so far). It is hot now and the a/c is always on.
Quiet and compact. Perhaps a bit too compact, because several of my Alsatian white wine bottles are too long to allow the door to close, and several other Alsatians will only fit if I cock their bottom rims on top of the wire shelf's rear boundary wire. It does fit standard 750 ml Bordeaux and Burgundy bottle shapes, and can fit 3 standard bottles of bubbly on the bottom shelf. The cooler seems to hold the target temperature well without a lot of cycling, at least in my wine cellar, which is a cool space to start with.
The Whynter WC-16s SNO 16 Bottle Wine Cooler is just what we needed. I am new to wine and storage was in issue in Colorado with no A/C in the summer. I have lost many very nice gifts given to me. We are building a bar in our basement and I wanted a compact cooler to store our wine and this one fits the bill perfectly.
It works fine so far. The temperature setting does move up and down a degree or two depending on the temperature in the house. We did leave for a vacation and turned off the heater in the house. It was very cold that week and the temperature in the house dropped to 47 degrees. Noticed that the cooler also dropped to 47 degrees. Hopefully in the summer if we leave and turn off the AC, the cooler will maintain the 55 degree setting.
After reading the mixed reviews I decided to roll the dice and order this item. I could not find a 16 bottle fridge anywhere close the price.
The packaging was excellent, no signs of damage to the box at all (it came from Dallas to San Antonio).
The setup takes minutes. The handle does not come pre-attached but was easy to install. You can use it without. I don't currently have a use for the keys, but once I have children I think it will come in handy.
I read other reviews about it not being able to store white wine, which is not true, wine needs to be stored around 60F to maintain its life. White wine should be "served" at a lower temp which is differant. I don't think its a big deal stick a bottle of white in the kitchen fridge 30 minutes before I start drinking it.
Only had it a week but so far so good, it is very quiet and maintains the temp it is set too.
One thing to note when placing the cooler is to make sure you have the proper clearances to maintain airflow (2" on the sides and 4" at the back). I suspect this may have been a problem people with burned out fans/motors have had. This is not a "built-in" unit.
