I have a picky eater with food sensitivities who throws up after eating most food. For a while, I fed my kitty Hill's Science Diet for sensitive skin and stomachs, but I really wanted to switch due to their unethical animal testing procedures and shady business practices. I found Solid Gold on a list of cruelty-free brands, and this particular recipe was recommended by their customer service based on my kitty's needs and sensitivities. I've been through so many foods, I almost didn't really believe she'd be able to keep it down, but I had to try something new.
I was so surprised when weeks went by and no vomiting! But she LOVES the taste! She goes to town on this stuff! My other kitties seem to like it too even though they have no special dietary requirements. I'm so happy to have found this recipe for my sensitive girl from an ethical company! Yes, it costs a bit more than other cat foods, but my money isn't supporting cruelty, and that's important.
I HIGHLY recommend this unconventional recipe for older and/or sensitive cats.
Wahoo! I believe I have found the right food for our Max! Kit loves it, too! When I first saw this, I thought, quail? I had never seen cat food with quail in it before. Well. It's a bird. Cat's like birds. Maybe our two will like this, too. Then I read the reviews about how this food has helped so many cats with not getting sick anymore. I have one that has had this problem for over a year.
Let me tell you about Max. He has gotten sick with every food I've tried, even higher priced ones. But not once has he gotten sick with Solid Gold. This was a huge mountain to climb, and I think we've, finally, succeeded.
When I first opened it, it peaked their interest right away. I added a small amount with their other food. They both went nuts over it. As a matter of fact, they would not eat the other by itself anymore. I put their regular into their bowls and they just walked away. Of course, we hoomans think we know better and I kept on feeding them their other food. They, finally, ate it, but, yep; Max got sick again.
According to the directions, as it is with all new cat food introduced, I'm supposed to gradually add the Solid Gold for a matter of days. I'd say that's not happening in this household. I've fed it to them, exclusively, and they both did fine with it. Something else I've noticed is, they don't need as much. So this is going to save us money, in the long run besides.
Another thing, I was concerned that Max has chicken sensitivity problems. It turns out the chicken in this formula hasn't caused him any undue duress. If anything, I think he's scratching less, and we've only had it for a few days!
I appreciate that this is sold in 3 lbs. bags so we could try it first. As it is, I think it will last us all month, along with their soft food. I would, however, like to see this food in zip lock bags. It would keep it fresher and it would be easier to store.
Yes! I'm excited! After searching and trying numerous foods, I really believe this is the one!

Now, if I could only find a natural cat litter that does what it's supposed to and not cost us an arm and a leg, we would be set.
This is one of the few foods that my cat will eat. Let me rephrase that...this is one of the few HEALTHY foods that my cat will eat. She is very picky, but will eat an entire bowl of this. I like that it is grain free, and also has pumpkin in it since that is good for digestion. I noticed that her coat seemed glossier after feeding this for a few weeks. Highly recommend. The kibble pieces are just the right size. I definitely recommend most Solid Gold foods.
After spending over $600 at the vet, I did research on my own.
Short story: one cat refused to eat/drink for 4+ days, no bowels/urine and second cat was barely eating/drinking as well.
After researching I found out that the food that they were eating had changed the formula and there were dozens of posts of same symptoms. I decided to change their food to "Solid Gold Dry Cat Food", it's GF & grain free.
Within 2-3 days both my cats had returned to normal! I was cautious and concerned but 3 weeks later the boys are doing great!
All my cats seem to enjoy and tolerate this brand the best. We have tried a lot over the years, and struggled to find a brand they enjoyed eating, but didn't make them fat, and yet could handle some of the more sensitive constitutions. I really feel we found a happy medium with Solid Gold Quail/Pumpkin, and it's great to know from other reviewers that they are an ethical brand as well.
I only wish I could buy a larger (and more economical) size on Amazon. I have 4 cats and they go through the 6lbs fairly quick.

My 15 year old cat started throwing up 6-7 days a week and numerous vet visits and tests were inconclusive, so I’ve been trying numerous holistic dry cat foods. This is the one she likes to eat and she only throws up 3-4 times per month.
I put some in an airtight container and the rest in the freezer. It doesn’t have an overpowering smell and doesn’t fall into pieces at the bottom of the bag. She’s on bag #3 and so far so good.
Was recommended for Hedgehogs! They eat it! I blend this with Fit as a Fiddle and Halo Indoor Spots stew.

This product has helped my cat keep his food down. As he has chronic respiratory problems, he still will throw-up now and then but so very much less than he did before this food.
