Added this to a whole house of Nest Protects. The listener can’t tell the difference between a test and a real alarm so you’ll have to put it into test mode whenever you want to test your smoke alarms. I had to turn the automatic monthly sound check on the Protects off as it’s not possible to coordinate test times with the listener automatically.
I bought two of these to use with my existing smoke detectors. I had trouble setting these up with the Ring alarm. I was on the phone with Tech Support for a long time. It was worth it though. The developers had me email a video of how I was trying to set the listeners up. After they viewed the video, they got right back to me with instructions on how to set them up. I followed the instructions and the listeners set up immediately. Now I don’t have to install new fire detectors. Five stars for both the product and five stars for Ring Tech Support.
I bought this kit to replace my LifeShield system. When I ordered I got enough kit to replace sensor for sensor. All of the kit arrived and I started the process of setting it up. The base connected to my network without a hitch but I wasn't unable to get ANY of the other devices to connect to the base. I had keypads, contact sensors, motion sensors, water and fire sensors and NONE of them would connect. So I reached out to support via email. In hind sight I should have just called but I was hoping for a short, quick answer that would solve all of my problems. That didn't happen and I got pretty frustrated. After several hours over several days of finding other reports online and trying what they had tried I was ready to throw in the towel. Then Danielle contacted me. She put me in touch with Nick in tech support and he tried for over an hour with me to get something, anything to connect. He had me disconnect other stuff in my house that could be causing interference with no luck. Finally I gave up out of frustration. I really wanted this kit to work because I already have Ring cameras and wanted an all-in-one solution.
I waited a couple of days for Danielle to get back to me. In the mean time I spent time here and there trying to see if I could get something to connect, but with no success. Until today. Today I literally shut off the power to every single thing in my house except for my internet connection gear and I started over. Base station came right up. Plugged in the keypad and it looked like it was going to fail like it always has, until it CONNECTED! Contact sensor? CONNECTED! Motion? Water? Fire? Other keypads? All CONNECTED!
My existing alarm is from LifeShield. Turns out I had two repeaters I did not remember installing that were causing interference and preventing the sensors from communicating with the base. Once those were off I had no issues connecting up the rest of the kit.
I still have not installed this as my active alarm but I will get that done soon. Bottom line is that my initial review and bad experience with this alarm were all caused by other kit in my house. The support I got from Ring, even when I wasn't kind, was great. For that they get 5 stars and I will come back and update this review once I have some experience with the system.
Added this to an existing smoke, fire and Co system to listen in the event of a fire. Although skepticle about how it would work, upon adding it to the system, I tested this devise several times. It work perfectly every time.
So far so good. Set up was easy with my First Alert ColO/smoke detector. Tried it with a test and I was notified instantly.

This was easy to mount and setup within the Ring Alarm app. We haven't had to use it yet, but it operates well within test mode.
Works really well. Easy to install and setup.
At first I thought this thing had to be a joke. That is until I accidently set the smoke detectors off and Ring Security Monitoring called me about 20 seconds after it went off. Very impressed with these products and how simple they are to install. I will be buying more products.
Added this to my monitored system in February 2019. When I recently changed out the smoke detector I forgot to disable the listener. I tested the new detector which within seconds set off the ring system...less than a minute later I got a call from RING to make sure everything was ok. I'm very satisfied with this device and especially with the monitoring service and would recommend it to everyone with the Ring system.
