Petit Collage Animal Town Wooden Blocks

Petit collage makes really beautiful, classic toys. Even thrown all over our living room, these puzzle pieces are adorable. My one year old loves these, the pieces are a good safe size, and are high quality and smooth. No splinters or sharp edges! Nice block set!

We are a big fan of blocks, having bought them for our children in the past, and our grandchildren now. Indeed, our theory is that there is no such thing as too many blocks. This particular set of blocks is unusual for the inclusion of an elephant, an owl, a lion, and at least a couple of non-standard shapes. The only flaw with this set is that there are not nearly enough blocks.

Before we opened the package, we were impressed with the colors of the blocks. Many blocks are a single color, or a limited number of colors and designs. These blocks include at least 10 different painted designs and colors. After opening the package, the next thing that impressed us is the thickness of these blocks. These blocks are very thick and sturdy, making them extremely difficult to fit into a baby or toddler's mouth, a definite plus in our book.

Next comes the acid test with any blocks, stacking and creating. As we noted above, the biggest flaw with these blocks are that there are only 26 of them. As tends to be the case, our temptation is to buy more, especially because two of the blocks include an interlocking saw tooth design that makes creating bridges and arches easier. We would love to have 10 or 20 of those saw tooth blocks. When combined with other blocks, it is easy to create bridges, towers, and other structures that the happy toddler loves to knock down, which seems to be a source of endless amusement for the happy toddler.

A brief comment on the price. Yes, these blocks are more expensive than some other block sets. However, these blocks are high quality, colorful, and include unique shapes. Plus, with minimal care they should literally last for hundreds of years. Our belief is that for people looking for a high quality product, these blocks are worth every penny.

Blocks are inherently a great toy, particularly for younger children. The possibilities with blocks seem nearly infinite. Indeed, blocks can later be combined with other construction toys as a child grows older, including Lincoln Logs, Tinkertoys, Duplo, Legos, and Megabloks, to make bigger, better, and more complex structures. The best thing of all is to pass the blocks along to the next generation, and even the next generation. These blocks are among the best blocks we have ever seen because of their variety, color, and thickness, and with minimal care should be something that will last for many generations of play.

Enjoy!

This is a great set of blocks! It's a little pricey at almost a dollar a block, but I think for the quality of the product, it's worth it. The blocks are on the small to medium size and come in a variety of shapes and colors. There are three animal blocks--a lion, an owl, and an elephant. Some are plain wood and some are painted (both with and without patterns.) No piece is small enough for a baby or toddler to choke on and generally all the blocks have semi rounded edges so if used as a projectile, there shouldn't be too much damage done to another person. (They could totally break a vase or something, though.) I really like that its gender neutral. It's great for boys or girls!

More than anything though, I just think this is a really great set to encourage creativity in little kids. There are no instructions on things to build. The kids can just jump right in let their imaginations run wild. That's what my 2.5 year old did. We can use this to identify colors and shapes, too, if you want to get some technical learning in, but I'm happy to just let my son use the blocks for his crazy made up animal stories. (None of which I can generally follow.)

This is such a cute set of blocks that is a bit more modern and more fun with shapes and prints then your regular run of the mill blocks. My kids loved the animals and designs that were featured on these blocks.

26 solid wood blocks that come in an array of 5 colors. There are 14 unique shapes that feature patterns ranging from spots to stripes. There are three animals - an owl, elephant and lion.

Petit Collage is really creating some awesome sustainable toys that are well designed and obviously thought through from start to finish. These blocks have been played with by my two child and every other child visiting our house and they still look pretty much new. Every single child has loved the different textures and shapes because they offer 14 unique shapes other then a rectangle or cube. :) The saw tooth block is a favorite and the texture and feel to it is really interesting to rub on your hand or on other blocks to make sounds.

Great for learning shapes, colors, patterns, counting, finding similar objects, hand eye coordination and imaginative play.

This is a cute block set. It seems a little more substantial in person than it looks online. A nice assortment of pieces to play and build/stack with. I got them for the 6 month old because although she can't actually stack and build yet, she loves sitting and playing with blocks. I think it is good for her dexterity, coordination, etc so although she can't stack and build, it is still beneficial to her and she really likes handling them. She has larger blocks that she sits and plays with, so after thinking about it for a day, I decided to give these a try with her. She sits and plays with them and tosses and clangs them. One nice thing about wooden blocks is that they have a softer sound than the plastic blocks clanging together all the time. These ones are nice thick wooden pieces that are easy for little ones to handle and manipulate. The animal blocks are dealt cute. All the pieces are a nice size too. I was afraid they'd be tiny, going by the pictures online, but they're actually nice sizes. I am glad I chose it because it is something she can continue to play with for a few years. Additionally, the 4 year old likes to play with them sometimes too.

Description

Petit Collage Where Design Meets Play

This is another winner for the Petit Collage line. We have been really happy with their products. They are consistently very well sanded, the colors are bright, and the details are excellent.

This is a fun block set that was originally designated for the baby (1). She’s a big fan, but the pieces have interesting shapes and designs, so her siblings frequently join in.

The blocks really feel great to touch—super smooth and a good weight and shape. I like to play with them as well.

Unfortunately we live in a plastic world, ...the stuff that can take up to a thousand years to decompose in landfills and quite often ends up in the ocean. With the majority of toys being made of plastic these days, it's nice when something comes along that's made of real wood. That said, my 3 year old grandson seems to love playing with this adorable, colorful all wooden set from Petit Collage. There are many interesting shapes from which to choose, and the pieces are smoothly finished and nicely painted. The animals add a whimsical touch to the set. Also nicely weighted. He does an amazing job balancing the stacks as far as they can go without falling over, which is quite impressive for a three year old.

Teaches coordination.

For our little 8 month old this is a fun set to explore and play with. It is extremely well made and very colorful. It helps with hand eye coordination. For right now she loves looking at them, tasting them, and banging them on the floor. This makes up most of her playing time. I expect these to last a long time and will grow up with her. Maybe even last long enough for her little ones to play with once she is all grown up herself.

I like playing with her, stacking them to make something tall that she has a blast with knocking down looking at me to put it back together again.

All in all this is one of those toys that will be around for years, even after she is all grown up. Well worth a full five stars!

Great toy that my son simply loves!!! It is real wood and very hygienic. He makes houses with it and keeps building stuff that I cannot even understand. He spends hours on this thing.
He is 2.5 years old. The colors are great too. I attached a picture. The animals are cute. You get three of them, lion, owl, and elephant.
This is good for development and hand coordination skills too. He builds stuff and totally enjoys it. I’m so happy I got this for him.

Now that our grandkids are 3 and 1, it's becoming harder to find toys the older one enjoys that are still safe and appropriate for the younger one. These are a perfect fit!! With cute, bright colors and designs, these blocks are great imaginative fun. I love the different shapes and sizes, and there are so many building possibilities. And if the 1yo happens to toss them or even chew on them, no worries - these are sturdy and well-made and hold up to hard play. This has been a great addition to grandma's toy stash.
