So we’re on the third replacement with ever shorter times between repairs. The heating element seems correct and genuine, and it’s not the wire that burns out. In all case did the 110C thermal fuse trip. It’s not resettable and the fuse alone is difficult to replace.
I’ve been reading some more and one blog explained that the burned fuse is a mere symptom rather than a root cause. It seems to make sense that if the blower motor degrades over time, the airflow reduces and ultimately the temperature observed y the fuse raises, too. This is especially logical since the time between repairs got shorter with every incident (from initial 6 years to finally 4 months after a total lifetime of about 9 years).
So I went ahead and replaced both heating element and the blower motor (Broan S99080558). Hopefully it will extend the time until the fuse blows back to the initial 6 years.
Replacement is rather easy since all you have to do is remove a few screws and unplug the fan/heater assembly (which is held by two hex nuts). The wires are all plugged in and the replacements come with matching plugs. The only real annoyance is a poor design choice of having low and behold four (4!) different fastener types involved. Be prepared to have a philips (PH2), a flat screw driver as well as an Allen wrench and a hex wrench handy. Seriously!?
(If you have kids in the household, make sure they don’t play with the switch that turns the heater on. The heater coil quickly warms up and if the motor can’t keep up with a trigger happy kid, it will also potentially blow the thermal fuse.)
4 stars for being a direct replacement in my Broan and always working for a while. Not 5 stars for needing to be replaced already, which seems really common. I'm just going to keep an extra one on hand, I get about a year out of one heating element with medium usage.
This is my second element replacement for same Nutone ceiling fan/light/nightlight/heater.
Initial quality and speed of shipping from Amazon is wonderful. For those of you doing the same replacement, remember to open up your fan unit and remove the collected dust before starting up the heater for s new season. The design of the Nutone unit allows vent air flow to flow backwards through the heater unit when it is not running and the resultant accumulation of dust in the heater unit will slow it's airflow and overheat the heating element causing failure
So glad this is available, our original purchase of the full unit in a big box store was over $100, so I was disappointed when the heater quit after only 18 months. Glad the husband was able to research & find this heating element to change out for such a good price. We hopefully won’t have to replace these in less than 18 months.....
Needed to buy this heater unit as the original one would no longer work. It was only 7 months old and I was disappointed that this part of the unit would not function after ONLY 7 months. The company would not stand behind the warranty (which is 3 yrs) of the original heater element and did nothing to replace it.
I will NOT purchase another bathroom heater from this company for that reason.

This is my second time having to replace this item, the overload thermal fuse burns out. I got about two years of service from the first unit, we'll have to see how long this one lasts, still cheaper than replacing the entire exhaust fan. Buy a spare to keep on hand.

Worked like a charm. So glad to have heat in our small bathroom again. My husband is handy, but I don't think it is difficult to install. Only took him a few minutes. Just installed a few days ago, but so far so good. BTW, I turned the heater on and forgot to turn it off. Hours and hours later, fan was blowing without heat. My fault, original element worked fine until I made the mistake.
Just as described.........this is the second time we've replaced the element, but I don't know if it's the actual product, a design flaw or bad luck. Easy installation in the NuTone fan/vent/heater ceiling combo.
The heater unit arrived quickly, was installed easily, and worked perfectly...I only gave it four stars because this is the second heating unit we have had to install in the last 2 years. The original heating unit lasted about 4 years. I love love love my Broan bathroom heater/fan/light, so this time I bought 2 heating units, installed one, and stored the second one for when this one burns out.
