I bought this May 2012, and after 3 1/2 years of working ok, it died. I was upset. I let it sit in the corner for a while. I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it, but I finally arranged for a burial (scheduled for tomorrow).

But then a miracle happened! I'm happy to say that I brought it back to life! As I was moving it to the curb for pick up, I noticed the filter in the back was fully clogged. I cleaned it, and plugged the cooler back in. Now it works great!

A couple of gripes:
1) If the room is really hot, it can't bring the temperature down as much as needed. I'm moving it to a cooler area of the house.
2) It does not fit the number of bottles it says because the shelves are very narrow. I had to take a row out to be able to use it, so I could only get 12 regular bottles in.

This is our 2nd wine cooler. The first one was a smaller unit that was low and wide. We did not like it because of the noise, and it had a smoked viewing glass. Could not see any of the wine. It took up a lot of counter space too.

This wine cooler is the perfect size to build into a cabinet in your kitchen, or stand out on its own. It is beautiful. Fits right in with our stainless steel appliances.

We purchased this unit thinking we would have it in another room, but the instruction manual says it can be built in. So I did just that. See photos.

I was worried the unit would arrive damaged, but it is so well packaged that should not be a concern. I took two photos for you that show the outer box and inner boxing. (See Photos)

Now about the unit itself.
Well built! Like a high end refrigerator. Every person who sees it just loves the looks. We like it because of the clear glass. You can see the blue LED light shine! The unit was tested before installing it and I can tell you even if you left it right out in the open, it is quiet!

One review I had read was the unit did not work when they got it. The review said it never got cold. It may have been a defective unit, or they did NOT READ the instructions. The one precaution is like any refrigeration unit it MUST be upright for 2 hrs. BEFORE you plug it in.

Now the only con: This is slightly unfair to call this a con as it only pertains to if the cooler is only built-in like I did. There is a leveling leg on the front right side. The other three legs are stationary. The problem I ran into was this leveling leg was attached to the front right door hinge not the unit. I had to remove this leveling leg and make my own leg under the unit in the cabinet. (No major deal) If you handy enough to be building in a unit, this is not an issue. On the Plus side of this leveling leg, if you are using the unit as it is, then the leveling leg is easier to get out being close to the right front corner of the unit.

By far this wine cooler is one nice complimentary piece to our kitchen.

This is the 4th 28 bottle thermoelectric wine cooler I've purchased, all different brands. None of them has been perfect. This may be the closest (providing it continues to run, which frankly is an issue with thermoelectric wine coolers).

The winning feature is that it seems to be slightly wider on the inside than the others. It will actually hold 4 Burgundy (Pinot Noir) bottles in a shelf while the others are limited to 4 Bordeaux (Cabernet Sauvignon) bottles because of their shapes. So if you are putting up Pinot Noir or Chardonnay this looks like the one to buy!

It does a good job of maintaining the 57˚ setting in a room kept in the mid 70's. If you are thinking of one of these for storing wine in a hot storeroom or a garage, or think it will chill white wine for serving, you need a compressor model.

Great product. It is attractive and, for all intents and purposes, silent. It does fit 18 bottles, but wider, non-standard bottles (e.g. champagne) won’t fit well. You can still get them in there, but have to use the bottom level or really work them in. In reality you can easily fit 18 standard bottles, or 15 standard bottles and two to three bulkier bottles. Read the other reviews about letting it stand upright for a few hours before plugging it in for the first time. I followed that procedure and had zero issues.

I bought this Wine cooler during the summer time to assist my wine in staying cool and fresh. The temperature on the thermostat allows you to set it as low as 53 degrees, however, although I have it set to 53, it seems to stay at a steady 55 degrees. This is fine with me. It allows you to view the temperature in Celsius or Farenheit, which is nice for those not in the U.S. The blue light acts as a great night-lite, and gives it a great ambiance, and It is very quiet, sitting about 3.5" from the back wall. Although it is supposed to hold 28 bottles, it is difficult to get 4 bottles across the bottom if the rack above the bottom is full. Overall very happy with my purchase!

Description

The NewAir AW-280E thermoelectric wine cooler lets you keep your collection at the ideal temperature for perfect taste every time. This wine refrigerator holds up to 21 standard bottles of wine. It looks great in your office, home wine cellar, kitchen or wet bar.

Packaged very well. Not a scratch or dent. Looks wonderful. I bought this to make a cigar humidor. I took shelves out and cleaned plastic insides out with baking soda. Had a slight new plastic odor. Plugged it in and it hums just a bit louder than I thought it would, but still pretty quiet. Got to temperature fairly quickly without any vibration what so ever. Looking forward to adding custom Spanish ceder shelving into it and a humidifier.
I'm even considering buying a second one for wine for the opposite end of the room. Very nice product.

I’m using this as cigar a wineador. Quickly discovered that it does not retain its temperature setting after a power interruption. It goes from the highest setting of 66 degrees where I keep it, to its default lowest setting of 54 degrees every time it has even a slight interruption in power. Annoying at best, so I’m running it on an small UPS. Does maintain stable temperature very well. My hygrometer/thermometer, when fridge set to max at 66, recorded 3 day low at 64.6, and high at 64.8. So it hold stable within 0.2 degree range.

I have owned this refrigerator for approx a year now. I bought it due to it's size. I had a tight space to fit it in. What I like the most is the removable shelves. I removed a few so wine bottles could stand up as well as lay down. There is absolutely no noise from the fan/motor. This refrigerator has been a life savor and I can't imagine not having it!

I purchased two of these. Spent the extra money for next day delivery, and yes it did show up on time with my only complaint it was left outside my door delivered upside down even though there was "This Side Up" arrows. Amazon should use LARGER arrows and message. Packaged really well. Had both set up and inserted into a built in area for wine within minutes (lots of air flow) and filled them with my wines from another larger failing unit. My intentions were to use one for red and one for white, but they can only be set to 54 degrees, so really no point...I missed that fact in the purchase. Still using one for reds and one for whites and champagne, but they are both set at 54 which is good. They reached temp very quick....absolutely silent, almost no noise at all. They are very attractive looking which was one of the main reasons I purchased it. I plan on building a wine room down the road so at this price they are nearly disposable when the time comes. Only regret is that the hinges are not reversible, so I could not have one on the right an done on the left so they both opened from the middle. Holds temperature well. I have them both full. A little tight for larger champagne bottles, but you just remove a shelf to fit them. Still I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

This is a great wine cooler. I put it in my garage. We have had a heat wave the past week and a half. I set the temperature for 56 degrees. The manual tells you that the unit can chill to be within 20-25 degrees of the temperature the cooler is placed in. It has been in the mid 90's here and the highest the temperature has gotten in the cooler is 61. We are very happy with this unit.
