I'm doing an initial review and will later update this post with an extended usage review. The star rating may change later on.
*Pros:
-Price: With amazon prime you can't go wrong. The price is right.
-Stitched Edges: Not only do these prevent against fraying but they also stop the mouse pad from having "air bubbles" or "bumps" as you would see in something like a QCK heavy when you run your hand against it.
-Aesthetics: Simply put.. it looks good. The subtle logo on the left hand side is very nice... makes me feel like I have a luxury mouse pad.
-Tracking: No surprises here. Exactly what you'd expect from a black cloth pad. No fancy logos/colors which would cause a sensor malfunction. I have not run actual tests for max speeds and data transfer but in a realistic aspect it tracks fine with a 3310/3366(0). You won't run into any tracking issues and if you do it's most likely the sensor of your mouse.. There's no perfect sensor.
-Glide: Smooth and controlled. It doesn't list it in the detail section but this mouse pad is more on the control side. Basically if you were looking for a mouse pad that gives you unrestricted free glide like a hard pad then this won't be for you. However if you're looking for something that offers minor feedback as you glide and gives your hand a feeling that it's in control then this is for you. As for static friction it's not very high. I'd say a moderate friction. It's just that stopping on this pad is very easy, there's no overshoot that you may experience with other pads where you lose control of the glide after a very hard swipe and go pass the target by a small margin.
-Grip: If you have the pad perfectly flat then it most likely won't budge depending on your surface. Most mouse pads that don't have a lot of weight will shift a little bit on any desk. Mine personally isn't fully flat in one area. It's not a quality control issue like an air bubble. It's just that either being rolled up or damaged from shipping caused it. With all that being said it doesn't really move around at all. The texture on the back causes like a 'sticky' grip to the surface. May vary per surface. My desk is the 'fake wood' not sure what the word is for that.
*Cons:
N/A (none yet, may change later)
*****Extended Usage Review*****
N/A (Will be updated in several months)
Extra Note: The Alioth I got from amazon had no package damaging but I haven't looked at the pad itself yet. The pad I'm reviewing is the one from Mionix themselves which came from EU. The box was badly damaged because it was shipping in some type of plastic rolled envelope. Amazon did it right and shipped it in a box. Mionix can't really be to blame but you can't give the benefit of the doubt that a package traveling internationally through a shipping company won't be tossed around. So FedEx would be to blame because the box that the mouse pad came in from them was really wrecked. Mouse pad came out alright in its box. This is my first product from Mionix and I'm definitely liking the quality. Feel free to ask questions in the Q&A section and I'll try my best to answer.
I switched to this mousepad from the SteelSeries QcK and have loved it. The smooth feel, large size, durability, easy maintenance and slightly thicker, more cushioned feel on the wrist have made this mousepad worth the money.
It's quite large and allows you to use huge arm swings while playing FPS at low sensitivity, giving you precision while still allowing for quick turns when you need them. The large amount of real estate is also appreciated in games like Planetside 2 where it allows for continuous pitching and rolling while in an aircraft without the hassle of using a flight stick for aircraft controls and then switching back to M+K when you transition to infantry combat.
The surface is quite smooth for a cloth based mousepad, making it much easier to glide the mouse around or clean dust and stray hairs off the mousepad. The braiding around the edges gives it a sense of durability while also giving a bit of cushion to the wrist. The Mionix branding may take up about a fifth of the pad, but I like that it is a relatively well blended color and isn't incredibly contrasting.
Yes, it does smell like a tire factory when you first get it. But if you leave it outside for about a day the smell dissipates, so don't let comments regarding the smell not going away deter you from buying this.
Now this thing is bloody huge. Make sure you actually measure the dimensions of this desk pad against your table before buying it. The surface is a lot smoother when compared to a steelseries mouse pad, which you may like or dislike. Personally i enjoy the smoothness. I like the stealthiness of the logos and the stitching doesn't seem to bad as well.
The only real negative points i have are it is a bit pricey (i live in Australia so exchange rates and shipping is ridiculous) and the packaging isn't that great.
AWESOME! Love this pad. I upgraded to this size from the XL. I love having this much mouse pad on my desk..basically covers the whole desk now. Smooth feeling just as you want if you're a gamer.
My only complaint, if I had to make one, is that the upper left corner of the mouse pad has a bend in it. Something about the way it was bent in the packaging has slightly folded the corner and I can't for the life of my get it to lay flat...BUT it doesn't effect my use in anyway. Love it! Love Mionix!
This is one of the best mousepads I've ever used. I play a variety of first person shooters. I am ranked very high in cs go match making LEM and ESEA and have played video games for over 20yrs including at LAN tournaments. As you can imagine I've tried donzens of mousdpads and gaming mice. I looked at the alioth for months before purchasing a few weeks backs before this I was using the glorious pc gaming mouse pad GXHL in black. Which was a fine pad and I had little to complain about. However I wanted something new as I wasn't satisfied that it was truly delivering. Mionix is a quality brand and I wanted to move to a more of desk mat style pad so I bought this one.
First thoughts was it was exactly like every other slick pad out there. I've had the Logitech slick pad, glorious, zowie GSR (which I only returned due to dimensions) corsair mm200 ( excellent pad poor highlighter line that ruins it along the bottom). In many ways it is similiar in feel and texture to these various pads it's as if these companies are ordering from the same supplier. However after a few weeks of gaming with what sets the alioth apart is how clean it looks. The logo is on the left side out of the way. The stitching is clean no hiccups.
As for the performance it's a lot like Logitech slick pad or GSR. I never feel like it didn't track and I pair it with a zowie ec1-a. I have hit incredible shots using this pad. Never had any slips or spins outs. I am confident that when I swipe it's going to stop at the right time it's that perfect combo of slick and control 60slick 40control. Sniping and spraying doesn't matter it's pinpoint precision. I'm surprised more people are not using this pad most likely due to the price point. Mionix castor and naos were great gaming mice and this pad continues their quality run. If you need a new pad buy it trust me it's worth the extra money it just oozes quality. I was fortunate enough to buy it when Amazon had a sale. I'm considering buying the large version so if I LAN at a friends house I have it and don't gotta worry about using up the whole table with my XXL version.

The thing is great! It covers the whole width of my desk and is very comfortable to wrest your wrists and arms on. The stitching doesn’t cause any comfort issues like a cheap one I had before. If you’re looking for a massive mouse/keyboard pad, this one is fantastic! I appreciate the minimalist design and the Mionix logo doesn’t stand out too much.
Comfortable to use, Right amount of Softness, Durable, made from quality materials, been using it for a long time, had no issues of any kind... 5 stars!
I have a lot of mouse pad, but this is one of my favorites, and is only for 20 bucks.
Impressive, really soft and control surface. 10/10
Great feel and size. I know that's what she said.
Nice size mousepad that has served me well so far. It did start fraying at the edges after a couple months of use but nothing major.
