DecalGirl Kindle Skin (Fits Kindle Keyboard) Her Abstraction (Matte Finish)

Upon rating this item, I decided I couldn't rate it low based on shipping time. It really is an adorable skin on my white kindle and goes well with my pink Acase.

As far as application... I had some difficulties with the side button cover and the back. Mainly, because at first I was being overly picky about placement. I found it easier to start with the back portion and apply from the bottom upward. I attempted multiple times to start at the top and work down, but I could never manage to properly align it using this technique. The front portion was by far the easiest piece to apply. It went on with one attempt. I thought the key buttons would make it difficult, but they actually simplified the process for me. Oh, and don't forget the small square piece that goes in the middle of the scroll button!

Now the thing about this product that bothers me... the excessive amount of time it took to actually receive it after I had purchased it. When I ordered this item, the shipment date was 2-3 weeks. That I had no problem with at all. However, when it was a month, I received an email from Amazon telling me that the item would actually not ship until another month. So, basically it took 2 months and 2 days to receive from the purchase date. I would have appreciated the expected shipping date to be a bit more accurate. 2-3 weeks compared to 2 months is a big difference, and I may have decided to order a different skin based on that information. So, if you don't mind over 2 months waiting for the product, it really is worth it!

I have the white Kindle so I wasn't sure how well it will look since the sample picture was of the graphite Kindle. I was extremely pleased on how well it turned out on the white Kindle. The skin's design matches perfectly with the white buttons, in fact, it makes them pop out more.

The DecalGirl skin comes with several easy steps on how to put the skin on, more or less a common sense approach. Something I would also recommend doing before putting the skin on is to use scotch tape to clean the surface of the Kindle. It can pick up the tiny dust particles that a regular soft cloth would not be able to pick up.

UPDATED 10/18/2010 - I ADDED SOME PHOTOS (UNDER CUSTOMER IMAGES) TO SHOW WHAT THIS SKIN WILL LOOK ON A WHITE KINDLE.

This was surprisingly easy to apply -- I've fought with the screen protectors on iPhones and iPads before, so I was expecting this to be just as difficult to put on straight, but it wasn't hard at all. I did have to use tweezers to apply some of the smaller stickers, but that was no big deal.

The picture is a little more juvenile-looking in person than I realized (a lot of hearts that I didn't notice when looking at it online), but the quality of the skin itself is very good. I have a white Kindle and I actually think it looks better on the white than the black. I opted not to use the stickers on the page forward and back buttons because they looked too much like stickers and not like part of the actual design to me, but they were easy enough to apply with tweezers before I decided to take them off.

Overall, a good product. It would have gotten 5 starts except it looks more cartoony in person than in the pictures online.

I was very pleased with this skin. The reason it didn't get 5 stars has nothing to do with the skin itself, it was very late in arriving (almost 2 months since purchase) and that really annoyed me. I had to take my kindle on vacation without its lovely skin. There really isn't much else to be said that hasn't already. What I will say, especially to those that gave negative reviews is that it does take quite a few minutes to properly apply (it took me 20-25 mins). You must have steady hands and good eye sight and work on a straight, hard surface with adequate lighting.

It is trickiest when adjusting the skin to properly fit around the buttons, but not difficult if you a have a little patience and certainly not impossible as others have made it out to seem. The skin is a lot more durable than they made it out to seem. It won't rip if you lift it up a couple of times in order to adjust it. I found it better to use tweezers to help lift up the edges around the keyboard. The air bubbles that sometimes appear, are easily smoothed out (thanks to the vynil material of the skin), I was not expecting that. I thought it would be like a sticker and that it would crunch in on itself and wrinkles would be left. Anyway, after you get the part that goes over the keyboard on (it does not affect the buttons at all if placed properly), the rest of the skin falls into place. Make sure your fingers are clean as you work it onto the kindle so that the oils don't affect the sticking. The skin that goes on the back of the kindle went on the easiest. All you have to do is start at the top where it ventilates from and then just smooth it down. it is better than going from the bottom up because you might accidentally cover the little holes the kindle needs to breathe.

The end result is a lovely design that brightens up the kindle. It protects against scratches but not much else. It is just a skin, not like the rubbery cover that most phones have. Finally, the skin itself looks a lot better in person I think. In the images it made me think it would be a pink shade going towards mauve that wouldn't totally go with my pink jacket, but it's really more of a pinkish red. No purple hints at all. It goes really well with the M-edge jacket I bought and the over all effect is exactly what I was hoping for. Even the graphite buttons seem to 'pop' and go well with the design. I hope this review helps some of you decide to buy that are not sure due to the 1 star reviews. So buy this item, it looks and feels great!

P.S Check out the pictures I added for a clear visual!

I bought this Kindle skin several months ago and followed the directions to apply it without any difficulty. You just have to make sure your Kindle is clean and dust-free, and CAREFULLY apply the skin so that it's neat and bubble-free. I have gotten so many compliments on the appearance of my Kindle, and have referred several people to this area of the Kindle store to look at all the available ones. I have the pink skin to go with my pink cover and everyone knows that this is MY Kindle. The reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the skin is not reuseable and I would like the option to switch it up a bit by changing the skins. Unfortunately, that's not possible. Regardless, I do really like it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to make the appearance of their Kindle more personal.

For some reason when i ordered this i thought it was a cover to protect my Kindle. When i recieved it and opened it i was kinda in what is this mode..:)I looked at it and after reading the directions realized it had adhesive on the back.I said ok I'll give it a try,I followed the directions and within 2 to 3 mins.it was on and I now have a very distinctive looking Kindle .I ordered the (Her abstraction in pink) it really dressed it up and i LOVE It!!!!! Now it's not just the little black pad laying around, i can easily spot where i put it down...Thanks Amazon!!!

This is an awesome skin! It is so cute, and I was able to put it on my Kindle very easily -- something I was worried about because I am a very fussy person, so I wanted it to be perfect. All the spaces (holes) in the skin line up perfectly with every button on the Kindle -- I have no trouble using any of the Kindle features with this skin on. I have the Amazon Kindle Pink Case, and it matches beautifully! When I'm ready for a new skin, I will definitely purchase another DecalGirl skin!

Though I do believe it is over priced, I do love this skin. I knew what it was going into the purchase and it was exactly what I expected when I opened it. It fits perfect to the Kindle and I know it'll protect from scratches. I think many of the buyers here did not read the description well enough and that was the main reason behind their disappointment. If you have the money to burn, it's great to protect from minor scratches here and there.

This skin is beautiful. Whenever someone sees my Kindle or I show it to them, they are amazed at how awesome it looks. Its almost too pretty to read! LOL
If you love pink and girly but classy things, this is the decal for you! I love this brand too! It was so easy to put on, you would have thought I had did it a thousand times before. So easy!

Love this skin. It looks like it does on the computer and fits like a glove. I also love my Kindle but a fluke happened; the top grip hook of my Kindle cover broke off in my Kindle which I'd only had a month. I called Kindle and cover, they were very nice. (I had purchased the two year coverage plan). They are replacing my Kindle and cover the grip hooks are how the light works in the cover. First they said it was free, now they are billing me so I'll have to call them again and get that worked out but that doesn't have anything to do with this cover which is great! Worth the price (although I wish they were less expensive)!
