Amazon Kindle EU Power Adapter (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX)

Amazon Kindle EU Power Adapter (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX)

Amazon Kindle EU Power Adapter (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX)

This adapter, when combined with the Kindle USB cable, makes it easy to charge the Kindle in continental Europe. It works between 110 and 240 Volts, so with an adapter plug it can actually be used anywhere in the world.
Please note that the standard US Kindle adapter is also designed for 110 to 240 Volts, so if you have a simple adapter plug (the kind you might use for an electric shaver when traveling) and the US version, you do not need to buy the European model. And if you are traveling with a computer, you can connect the Kindle to the computer with the USB cable and charge it that way.
The adapter works well but is very expensive to have shipped to Europe and I don't know about other Kindles, but mine needs to be recharged about twice a week!

I scheduled vacation in Germany and wanted to bring my Kindle. I knew that Europe has a higher voltage of electricity -- I learned that the hard way when I fried my nebulizer in a hotel. I had ordered the Kindle EU Power Adapter and the Insten Universal World Wide Travel Charger Adapter Plug, just to be safe. The Insten didn't arrive in time. I took the Kindle EU Power Adapter and hoped for the best. Not only was I able to charge my Kindle safely and in a normal time-frame, but I used it to charge my phone too!!! It worked great. It was a life-saver. I plan on going back to Europe and the Kindle EU Power Adapter now permanently resides in my Kindle M-Edge case, along with my US charger.

I highly recommend this product.

PS: Be aware that other countries have physically different electrical sockets, but the countries often have higher voltage in those sockets. US sockets are typically 110 volts but other countries can be 240 volts, which is higher than my clothes dryer of 220.

This is a great quality USB charger for the money. If you travel to Europe a lot this will just work without having to borrow one of those silly US to Europe chargers from the reception in the airline lounge or hotel that you have to watch all the time to make sure that they are actually making proper contact with your US charger and charging your Kindle/iPad/iPod/iPhone/BlackBerry etc.

The Apple USB charger retails for double this, so this is a good one to keep when you travel as it will charge all your USB devices, and it costs half of Apple's retail one - Apple USB Power Adapter (Newest Version) [Retail Packaging].

Now I know you can pick up USB chargers from various retailers on Amazon for around $2 or $3, and I have been cheap enough to try them with all kind of problems ranging from overheating to burning smells, but seriously folks, you have devices that costs 100s of dollars attached to them, and if one of those cheap ones go over-voltage on your $600+ iPhone it will fry it... buy a quality one like this.

I used this to charge my Kindle on a recent trip to Turkey and Greece. Because it has an USB port on the opposite end from the prongs, I also used it to charge my iPhone. It worked fine. BUT, don't depend on being able to use it without a regular converter. There was a hotel where this would not fit in the wall (who knows why) and I had to use the converter I also brought with me.

I suppose if you have a GOOD converter, you dont even need this plug. The converter I took was a Walkabout ([...])

Be aware that Kindle power adaptor ONLY works in European outlets. Other countries (including England) have different outlets. You will need your entire power cord so that you can plug it into the converter.

this adaptor is very useful. It has a built in transformer, household voltage to 6.0 volt input to the kindle. this information is printed on the body and requires a magnifying glass to read it. This information needs to be more easly seen and read. I was some time before I was confident to connect from 240 volts direct to the kindle

Description

I love this small piece of adapter, it's not only usable for kindles, but also ipad, iphone, or even blackberry, nokia, you name it. You name it. I went on a shooting assignment without bringing my blackberry's charger. The adapter + the cable from my card reader saved my life.

The thin design is another plus. I hate those kinds of "brick-like adapter" which hogs all the space on my power outlet.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is that it's a bit long, and some of the sockets in my house are behind a table, a chair or a wardrobe. So it maybe a bit inconvenient.

Highly Recommended!

Essential for any Kindle owner--Kindles seem quite finnicky about their chargers--this one is also very well made and has quite a satisfying heft to it.
Always Kindles do lasts many weeks on one battery charge, when the time comes recharging out a usb port of a personal computer is positively a pain, so you need a charger!
This is the version for continental Europe, but I would presume versions for other plugs world-wide to be as good.

The ASIN:B005DOKG70 Amazon Kindle EU Power Adapter worked perfectly with my Kindle Touch on a sailboat on Turkey's Turquoise Coast! I plugged it into the outlet in the (tiny) bathroom marked 'for razors only' to recharge my Kindle, because the Kindle draws so little power. It recharged in 2 or 3 hours, and the roomboy didn't touch it - which suggests others had done the same before me OR the roomboy was afraid to touch it!

We live in Europe, and travel a lot with all our electronic devices. We need more of these all the time. It is completely universal (works for all our devices), and we cannot leave home without them. I lend them to our guests, and always have one with me while traveling in Europe.

Very fine piece of accesory. Serves well for the purpose of charging my kindles (which was originally bought for) and also my smartphones and other things using small USB socket.

One thing, though: I bought a Kindle, Kindle originall cover and this charger at the same time, alle from Amazon LLC. Charger was sent from LA, cover from Arizona and Kindle from Hong Kong or something... I paid three international shipment cost... UNBELIEVABLE!!! :-/ Don't You think?
