Had to come back and watch the video on how to fold the flap to stand it up. Glad I did. It's so simple, and I was doing it wrong every way imaginable. Saw one review where they felt the sound was blocked. If you insert the Kindle as shown in the little direction thing that comes with the case, the speakers are totally exposed. No problem with sound. I have not had the other origami-style cases for my other Kindles, so I cannot compare or contrast to them. I think the magnet is extremely strong and have stood it up and tried pulling on it to see if it was the least bit loose, and it is not. Like that it only needs one fold to stand either vertically or horizontally. I do not find the fabric to be scratchy at all. I appreciate the fact that it has a slight texture so that it is not slippery in my hands. Again, watch the video and read the directions. Both are very helpful.

Love This! The Case is great too. I have had 3 Kindles since they came out. I upgraded from the first Kindle reader to Kindle HD 10. Never had any problem with any of them. In fact I have a short story to tell. I live in Florida so you know it's humid and very hot in the summers. I always took my Kindle Fire HD outside to sit in the sun. Well as I laid there basking like a piece of bacon, I noticed that my Kindle was off but was extremely hot. I tried to turn it back on but no go. So I ran into my house and threw it into my freezer, that's right my freezer. I went along my daily routine and about 4-5 hours later, I realize "Oh My God" my Kindle was still in the freezer! I ran and took it out, safe to say it wasn't hot any longer. I was so upset, first I knew it wasn't going to work. Second I was going to have to spend money and buy another one. Third I have to call myself stupid. Hey Stupid nice meeting ya. I took it out, wipe it off let sit for awhile then I slowly pressed the on button. Low and behold It Worked! And it still works. I just brought the Fire 10 and love it. There's a lot of nice features. Amazon Kindles any of them are wonderful. They last and last. I know I use mine everyday, whether it's for music, books, TV, taking pictures. Love it love it!
I was debating getting a case for the Amazon Fire HD so I decided to use the tablet for a few months to see how I use it before getting one. After throwing the tablet around a lot, I finally got this case to protect it.
— THE CASE —
The case is a protective thick plastic shell that houses the tablet, with fabric covering the outer shell. The inside lining that covers the screen is a soft velvet like material.
The case is substantial in weight and everything will feel heavier, so take that into consideration depending on how you use your tablet. I personally like the plastic corners because I tend to watch things in bed with the corners of my tablet touching the bed. If the corners were fabric it would wear out, but since it's plastic I don't have to worry about that.
The magnetic closure keeps the case cover on your screen until you are ready to open it. It will unlock your tablet (if you have the no-ads version) when you flip it open. It's strong enough where it stays attached to the back so it's not flopping around. The magnet takes a slight effort to detach from the back and front.
— THE STAND —
The "fold" in the back to turn your tablet into a stand (in landscape or portrait mode) works sufficiently. I'm always afraid it will fall flat on the counter and I personally don't use the stand feature.
— SUMMARY —
If you are debating a case, I suggest getting a "used" like-new version that Amazon Warehouse sometimes has in stock. You save a little bit and makes the cost more reasonable. Recommended.
Husband just got me this to replace my smaller one. It's great I love it! It will not replace your desktop people but come on it's not supposed to! As a table it's great I have no issues with it. Clear high quality picture on movies and no problem running my apps. If you want a computer go buy one, lol.

I really like my Amazon Fire HD10, and I really like this case! The case protects the Fire. It has a magnetic latch that secures the top cover when you flip it around to work on the tablet. The case is well built and does its job of protecting the Fire yet it is not heavy or bulky. The case doubles as a stand for the Fire in either a portrait or landscape orientation. So what is the dumb design flaw? Well, you have a screen facing and back facing camera on the Fire. The screen face camera is great for video chatting, and the back camera is great for taking pictures and casual video ... but when you flip the cover over there is no hole that allows you to use the back camera. You would have thought that Amazon would have designed their case to not render an Amazon Fire feature inoperable, but they did not. I finally put some packing tape on both sides of the case cover, laid it on a piece of plywood on my drill press, and drilled an 11/32" hole (just slightly smaller than the hole that ironically is in the hard plastic protective shell of the case that allows the camera capable of being used with the Fire installed in the case). Now everything is as it should be. Amazon should have put a hole in the cover of their case. If you make this modification, I recommend that you put packing tape on both surfaces so that you don't tear or fray the fabric and felt on the cover while drilling through the cover. After drilling the hole, I dabbed super glue around the edges of the hole to fuse the fabric and felt and prevent it from fraying over time; clear nail polish would do the same thing. I would have given this product 5 stars if they had designed this hole in the cover in the 1st place.
I love my Kindle Fire. As a user of the first Kindle who migrated to several versions of the iPad, I came back to the Kindle because of the price and usability. First of all, I buy the majority of my books on Amazon, so it’s much easier to buy books directly in the Kindle app as opposed to being forced to log into my Amazon account in Safari. Second, the Amazon Prime membership allows you to download books and magazines for free, something which was more difficult to do on the iPad for the aforementioned reasons. Third, I found that already having a laptop, I only used my iPad for applications which are all available on the much cheaper Kindle Fire.
Going from an iPad to a Kindle Fire 10, I immediately noticed a significant weight reduction therefore making it less tiresome to read for long periods of time. I used to also watch films and TV series on Netflix and Amazon on the iPad display. The screen on the Kindle is smaller than the iPad, but for the price and the weight, it’s not that much of a drawback for me. The screen definition is really quite good, and I find I prefer the Kindle for its portability. I also like that the Kindle has an SD slot so you can expand the memory; a feature not available on the iPad.
All in all, I don’t think I’ll be going back to the iPad. The significantly lower price of the Kindle plus its high quality and ease of use with Amazon.com far outweighs any perceived drawbacks of screen definition and size.
If you’re still on the fence like I was, ask yourself what applications you’ll be using the device for. If it’s for reading and watching videos, then I’d recommend this over the iPad.
I was apprehensive to spend $40 on this case, but after receiving it the build quality is very high and the fabric feels high-end and durable. The magnet attachment is strong.
I'm pleased so far. I"ll report back with durability after a few months of use.
I like this case on my new Fire HD 10 but I think it is overpriced.
When I purchased the Kindle HDX tablet years ago, I also purchase a case for the tablet. This case was very nice. It folded into a V-shape, which locked into position (called origami). I could orient the table on any side. When I purchased this case for the Kindle Fire HD 10, I thought this would also be a good case. Well, I like the appearance of the case; it looks good encasing the tablet. But this case relies on a single fold, which you can see in the picture. It reminds me of a picture frame holder. This fold does not lock into place like the HDX case did, and you have to orient the device in a particular direction; it will work only on two sides. It is also a bit flimsy. The tablet is not as stable as the origami case when propped up, particularly in portrait mode. One nice thing that remains is the magnetic door which automatically turns on the table when you open it and automatically turns it off when you close it. Another good feature is the fact that this case has a portrait and landscape mode. Most of the other covers I looked at only support landscape mode.
