I'm a tea aficionado. I have traveled through China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore and experienced different teas there. I brought home $100 of tea from Taiwan and had been working on that for a few years, and I finally ran out. So, it was time to order more tea. Rather than travel abroad, I decided to just buy more tea on Amazon.
I've always known India had great tea, and I was curious to hear that an Indian company was offering Oolong tea grown at high altitude in India. There were surprisingly few loose leaf tea options from China and Taiwan on Amazon.com, so I decided to give Vahdam Teas a shot. Plus, I was curious how Oolong from the Indian climate would taste.
The taste is hard to describe, but it's a beautiful blend of that nutty character you would expect from an Asian Oolong, with an Indian darjeeling twist. It's just such a unique taste --who would have imagined you could get Oolong from India!
The packaging and quality are top notch. The package even includes detailed instructions on how to get the perfect brew (e.g. let steep for 5 minutes in 90-100C water). And the tea strength is great for this Oolong. I get 3-4 brews out of one teaspoon --I just leave it in my teacup and keep re-brewing it through the day.
This tea company means business. Great product.
Just wanted to comment that I received the tea in 3 days. The email I received on the 5th day requested a review. They stated "Unlike your everyday cuppa, Vahdam teas do not travel in containers for months before being packaged and sold. All our teas are procured direct from plantations & tea growers within 24-72 hours of harvest , packaged garden fresh and shipped to Amazon warehouses directly from source in India . By eliminating all middlemen we are not only able to make available garden fresh high quality teas but are also able to retain all earnings in the region where these divine teas are grown & nurtured by millions of growers with immense love, care and passion . A process which ultimately helps every farmer get a better price for their produce. Additionally, instead of a date of packaging, all Vahdam Teas come with a Date of Picking/Harvest which is the true indicator a tea's freshness." My tea was picked and packed on NOV/16 and I received it April/17.
Update: Vahdam Teas contacted me and gave me some good information.
"You have correctly pointed out that the harvest is of November 2016.
However, I'd like to clarify that most of the Darjeeling Oolong Tea can ONLY be harvested in November & summer months. So an April 2017 is not yet possible.
Having said that, what we also mean is teas which are harvested are immediately available with us. For eg - The most sought after 'First Flush Teas of 2017' which have been harvested in April and are less than 2 weeks old are ALREADY up on the store for consumption. Some of them being from the prestigious gardens of Arya, Jungpana, Namring etc. People across the world have already ordered and sipped some of these fresh teas.
We are glad to know you did like the tea which is important in the overall scheme of things."
Very good Oolong tea, but a little bit bitter is brewed too hot or too long. This is one tea that requires your attention to brew right. I learned right away not to put the loose leaves into my porcelain teapot and let steep. The first cup is excellent, but if the leaves stay in the hot water too long the taste becomes too strong. I learned to use a small amount in a filter, letting it steep only 3-5 minutes. This seems to be perfect.
i have been a coffee drinker all my life. I had heard about the anti-inflammatory properties of Oolong tea and decided to try it. I bought a box of tea bags at the store (a different brand) and liked it. So I decided to try the leaves, as they are fresh. I bought a tea ball and drank the tea. Not only do I find it soothing, but, it does help with the inflammation. I think I have become a tea totaler, what do you know?! Highly recommend.
I have drunk heaps of tea in my time. I just love everything I have bought from Vadham teas. This oolong is fantastic. I like to put in a couple chrysanthemum blossoms, a pinch of osmanthus blossoms, or a couple goji berries. It is just fantastic in summer as well as winter. And there is a lot of winter where I live! I have some of this every day and it still lasts a good amount of time. I have subscribed to this, and I really hope they keep it on subscription! Great, refreshing tea!

This tea is delicious. Each order comes with a fresh resealable bag to put the tea in after you open the vacuum sealed bag it ships in, along with a sticker with instructions on how much tea to use, what temperature water, and how long to steep it for to get the best flavor. This is one of several teas I buy from this seller, and I am never disappointed.
Not only received the tea, but a ziplock bag to put in once opened to keep fresh, a real great company, it's a quality tea for an excellent price. Bought some from a tea ship a while back, so wanted some more. Great Oolong tea and by the packaging, quality is what I got.
First may I say, I have not tried a Vahdam tea that I did not like. This was my first oolong tea and I am happy with my purchase. It has delicate sweet notes and a very mild malt taste and smell. I prefer to drink this as a sweet ice tea but I also drink it hot depending on my mood. This is truly a smooth and delicious tea. In fact this may be my second favorite tea after the Vahdam Ginger Chai.
As far as the detox and anti inflammatory claims I honestly don't know. That was not the reason why I bought this product but there are may articles on the Web stating the health benefits of Oolong teas. If it's on the Internet it has to be fact. Right?
I make this by the pot using leaf tea. it is true that you get several steepings. I use 1/2 to 1 tsp of leaves per two cups of boiling water. My pot goes into a cozy for a few minutes. I find it stays hot through my drinking time. I have served this to family and neighbors who also enjoy the flavor. I will certainly buy this again. It was delivered in two days with Prime and the compressed block of tea filled the enclosed bag when I loosened it. Good value for the money.. Enjoying it daily in Bridgtpn
I just received my package yesterday, and was so excited to try it. The packaging seems high quality, and the moment I opened it I could smell how lovely this oolong was. Definitely follow the instructions, otherwise it will be slightly bitter but it is an excellent flavor. I don’t think I’ll be able to go back to other brands after drinking this!
