once it gets going its pretty fast. if its a hot party idk about supplying more than 2 people hi-balls tho. casual sodas/punch a glass every 20mins or so then 2 maybe 3 people are covered. if the room is cool and the water is room temp it makes the first batch in under 8 mins but the cubes may be small, then it gets going and ur set. u fill ur glass with the ice BUT the ice is full of air (white cubes) so u NEED a full glass to get a room temp soda or punch cold. lets see how long it lasts.i got and extended warrantee ,something i always tell people not to get suckered into, but there where reviews of people having these work flawless for 6-10 months then bang-nuthin-dead, so i figured its hit n miss. i think part of it could be because its small it gets turned all directions and upside-down during shipping and refrigerant units arent supposed to be treated that way,so i left mine 24hrs upright before first startup, hope that helps, time will tell

update: 4 months ,away for a month ,back for 3 weeks BANG done. its dead. o it functions normally ,but just makes cool water. goes thru the complete cycle and u even see little pieces of icelets on the finger thingies, but i believe the coolant has leaked out. that makes me feel good as ive always wanted to unknowingly breathe in a gaseous chemical that doesnt exist in nature. now time will tell if the extended warrantee company will honor it and replace this thing or refund.

I have owned this machine only a few hours and I already love it. When I was pregnant I got a bit anemic and loved chewing on ice. I still crave it. The ice at my house is too hard on my teeth and I was spending money at Sonic and AM/PM for the "crunch" and "pellet" ice. I was apprehensive buying this machine but reviews were great and I have to say I couldn't be happier. The ice is delicious and definitely munchable. It's not pellet ice, but it's still very easy to eat. The best part it that it melts a bit in the tray making it very soft and pleasing, easy on the teeth. I use the small size setting. A few notes: The instructions say to let the machine sit for 2 hours and not to turn it upside down due to the refrigerant. I didn't realize this when unpacking it and had tipped it on it's side to remove from the box. The machine makes 10 cubes at a time. I expected more, but given that it makes them in under 10 minutes it's not a big deal, just something to be aware of if you're planning for more than yourself. You'll definitely want to remove the ice and freeze it in your fridge to be ready. The other thing is that it was hard for me to fin the max water line because it blended into the white plastic. I had to actually feel for it and once I felt it I could see it, but initially I didn't notice it. If anyone likes ice and is looking for chewable ice, but doesn't want to spend a fortune on the fancy machines I would highly recommend this ice maker.

My husband and I have bought several of these countertop ice machines. They are all made by a single manufacturer with different logos on them. Makes ice in a very short time. They all work for 6 - 12 months. It costs more to ship the machine for repair than to buy a new one. It is still cheaper than replacing our ice machine inside the refrigerator, so we will keep buying these.

From the reading these don't usually last so I purchased the extended warranty. i had purchased one several years ago but after several months we got a new fridge with a really crappy ice maker (we had given the other one to our daughter i think it still works but not sure) now we have ice again I fill it up and when the tray is full i put it in the ice dispenser for the fridge, because the ice is wet sometimes i will put it in a plastic bag let it freeze hard and then put it in the despenser, it makes ice fast, we have it located in a pantry that is cooler than the rest of the house and I think this increases the rate it freezes at, time will tell if it is a good one but so far it has been ok.

I love our rented home but our freezer does not have an ice maker, nor are there pipes behind the fridge if we wanted to install one. Ice trays are a huge fight for us, because someone always leaves the empty trays on the counter. Bagged ice works for a while, but having to buy ice regularly gets frustrating. Did I mention we live in Florida? Ice is a necessity here, and half the time the gas stations & grocery stores are out of bags. I was fed up with the entire ice situation, until now. This machine is my new best friend. It is a little noisy, but it is a consistent white noise so it drowns out pretty easily. Filling the tank with water yields about 3 full baskets, and 3 full baskets fills about a gallon size zip-lock freezer bag. I run the machine for a couple of hours maybe twice a week, and that seems to be enough to keep us stocked with 3 or 4 full gallon bags. The ice cubes are cute little gumdrop shapes, even the large ones are small, but they work just the same. The machine pauses when the basket of ice is full, if you forget about it the ice will stay frozen for a few hours (it's essentially a cooler), and when the ice melts it just drops back into the water reservoir, and the machine will make new ice from it. When the machine runs out of water it will auto shut off. It looks good on my counter, the black and stainless steel compliment my kitchen. I put it at a diagonal on the counter so as not to block the fan on the side. I would imagine that if the fan is blocked it could potentially over heat, as it does get warm. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone in my situation, or anyone who entertains often. My next home will definitely have a functional ice machine in the freezer, and this will be great addition for a wet or dry bar, or by the pool!

Ok, let me say the good news first. This is an excellent ice maker.

Next, the unit did nothing when I first plugged it in. I moved it to another outlet and it started to work all of the sudden. I then turn off the light and left the room. When I returned, it was empty no ice! I was getting really upset. The ICE FULL light was on and it was empty. All of the sudden the unit started up again and the LED for ICE FULL turned off.

The culprit was lack of enough light for the ICE FULL sensor to work, I was surprised! I thought that it was like a fridge ice maker and not need any light to work, but it seems otherwise. Still, I'm happy and it's a keeper!

This is an excellent ice maker! I did a lot of researching on these before locking in to this one. It works great - no complaints at all. Note that this is not a freezer/ice maker! So don't expect the ice that it makes to stay frozen in the tray. It melts slowly. In fact I found it's a good idea to always leave one layer of ice behind when scooping out - this makes it where the next ice it dumps melts slower, thus giving you more solid and larger pieces.

I read a lot of reviews on the other models so know what can go wrong. So far this is working great for me.

Haven't stopped using this Ice Maker since I got it... I'm loving every second it is in my home... so really needed... can't wait until summer comes so I can have nice ice tea ... oh wait... I can have all year long...yay!

really really nice...

Update on this icemaker....

My icemaker stopped on me and I went to the reviews to see if others were having issues too... and some are...

This is only a helping hand and I'm no technician...

Unplugged the icemaker... carried it to the sink and sprayed with lukewarm water the underside where the tray moves up and down that pushes the ice to the basket....let is settle for a few minutes and did it again...

it's working like brand new....

like any machine.... they have glitches...

If you want ice for chewing (like hospital ice or sonic ice), just remember, you gotta let this ice sit in water for a few seconds before it can become soft enough to crunch satisfactorily.
No real size or thickness difference between small and large cubes. But it sure cranks out the ice.

We have a new ice addiction thanks to this thing! It makes Ice very quickly and in two sizes. The ice cubes sort of look like bullets, rounded at one end, flat at the other with a whole in it. My wife says the ice is 'fluffy'...so not as dense as say a cube from a tray. We love it! The tray to hold the ice is a bit small and fills up fast, but that's easy! Just empty it into another bowl!
