Ordered the ring and downloaded the android app (in beta, but works fine). I received the ring sizing kit in the mail and then finished my order with my selected ring size. The ring is surprisingly lightweight which is great cause I really didn't want a heavy or bulky bit of "jewerly" (reason I didn't want a watch or bracelet). Once you take the ring out of the package you have to pair it with the app - this was really simple and easy. I just plugged the USB adapter (I used my cell phone charger but you can plug into a laptop) and attached the ring (magnetic), and then opened the app. It finished pairing in about a minute. Charging the ring is pretty quick as well (charge is lasting about 3 days). I've slept, showered, sweated, and washed dishes with the ring on and haven't had any problems. Also, I don't have to keep the app running since the ring stores my data until I sync it, which is great because then my phone battery won't be drained by having another app running. I'm really enjoying this tracker, it's simple to use, pretty, and comfortable.
I bought a Motiv Ring to replace a Fitbit that unfortunately broke after it went through the washing machine. I wanted something that was unobtrusive but fully functional in terms of fitness tracking for my elliptical exercises, didn't need to be recharged everyday like most smartwatches, and could hopefully do things like sleep tracking. Motiv checked all the boxes, and you don't look like a fitness buff or tech geek when you wear it. The app answers all your main questions with cards that summarize what your activity has been, and battery life lasted about 4 days. So far, it has totally replaced my Fitbit for fitness tracking and can do things that my old clip-on Fitbit could not, like real sleep tracking. Plus it feels very cool and futuristic!
I LOVE my Motiv Ring. I’ve had one for months now and since then have gotten 2 more for other fitness-loving / quantified-self obsessed friends. So, here’s my long overdue review!
After losing countless earlier-gen FitBits to the laundry or simply misplacing them in my interminable apartment clutter, I thought I’d given up on fitness trackers. With the Motiv, not only have I not lost it, it’s become an integral part of me — true “set it and forget it” technology.
The ring looks great (even on my small hands) and I’ve gotten several compliments by folks who were then astounded to find out it’s also a fitness tracker! Score 1 for fashion. [Comparison note: I’m a size 7 on my middle finger or 6 on the ring finger. I wear the Motiv on my middle finger. My mom, who has even smaller hands, found it a little too big for her, but I got used to it in a day.]
I thought I’d mostly use the Motiv for exercise, but the insights into sleep tracking and heart rate are what really motivated me to change my lifestyle. For example, I may not fully “wake up” when my partner comes in, but the Motiv app gives proof nightly that my sleep is disturbed — making the “come to bed, honey!” a much easier argument to win. ;-). I’ve also liked tracking my heart rate over time (and seeing how alcohol affects it — oy!)
The mileage on my walks and runs is almost exactly what Strava says, so I trust their calculations. For me, the battery life is great. I keep a charger in the bathroom and take the ring off to charge while I shower and get ready for the day. This seems to be enough to keep the charge fresh every day. As long as my routine holds, I haven’t had a problem with battery life.
Once or twice there’s been glitches when updating, but it usually gets resolved either immediately by trying again (take the ring off the charger, close app, and put back on, opening the app), or within 24 hours after another update. Minor frustrations for otherwise very reliable technology overall.
Also, the app is continuously improving, with new features coming out pretty regularly. It gives me exactly what I need to know, nothing distracting or superfluous — perfect for my lifestyle.
If you’re debating whether to try it, or get it for a friend, I say go for it — there’s a generous trial period. I’m a big fan of the Motiv Ring!
I love this ring! I hardly even realize i have it on, but my app is the first thing i check in the morning. How much sleep did i get and what was my RHB. And its making me accountable. i like the counting of the steps, but i really like the tracking of the active minutes. It pushes me to give a little more! Ordering it was super simple and the set up process done in a matter of a few minutes. It's super sleek and simple, not to mention durable. I have done it all. lifted weights, housecleaning, dishes, lugged sports equipment...Not one scratch, scuff or dent. It's a keeper for sure!
The fitness tracker I've been waiting for - beautiful, durable, accurate in its data reporting and finally something I don't need to wear on my wrist!! Very impressed with all the functionality they packed into such a small ring. The Motiv app is great too! Five stars for the hardware and the mobile app.
I'm a former college athlete and wish I had it when I was spending hours in the pool. Waterproof is a must-have for me with all of the water training I still do. I've also run it through the ringer in the gym, sweaty yoga classes, and wear and tear around the yard at home. Exactly what I need in my life.

I previously had a Fitbit but didn't like sleeping with a watch on my wrist. I bought the Motiv and it was a much better experience from that perspective. I have had it for 3 months now and it has worked well. The insights have been good and I often forget I even have it on. But am hoping they release more software updates where it can provide additional functionality.
I have enjoyed watching the Android version of Motiv Ring develop and grow. The first post-beta version is arriving next week. The Motiv app and ring now give me the data I most need, namely steps, heart rate, and sleep.
This little ring is a powerhouse, including the patented flexible battery and mainboard. The ring is attractive, and the sizes fit most folks. They send you a set of ring size measurers, so the fit is easy.
The charger plugs into a USB port. I've included a chart showing what the ring color lights mean. Twirl the ring on your finger to sync. It sure works for me. Highly recommended.
Note: I've been tracking the development of the Android Beta here in this review. Now that that's ending, I've cleaned up this review. It has been a real pleasure watching the ring develop. The Motiv staff has been very active and helpful, listening to feedback as they made changes, so this has been a sort of crowd-developed product.
I LOVE my Motiv ring. It has changed my life. Very passive way to monitor my progress towards better fitness. One negative is that while the material is scratch resistant it’s not scratch proof. I returned my first ring for a replacement because of excessive scratches within the first week.
the company is very responsive to questions and issues and they got me a replacement within a week. The app is fairly easy to navigate if you take your time and READ. All the metrics are based on your resting heart rate. So once you get your heart rate 40% above your resting rate, you’re considered active=burning calories.
I Ike that the ring is very conservative looking and just blends with my skin. I’m very satisfied with this purchase.
Purchased this FitTech & HealthTech ring as I had saw this at CES in Las Vegas and had several friends who owned one and were raving about how much they like the device.
Ordering: The ordering process was really simple. Ordered the product on Amazon and within a few days received a nice box with the various ring sizes for me to try on to ensure I had the correct sizing. Once I selected the ring size / color and entered the redemption code on their site I had the ring within 48 hours.
Setup: The setup process is easy as well...download the app for your mobile device, charge, and wear.
Product use: First off the ring itself is super stylish and lightweight so you hardly notice you have it on. Its easy to keep on all day and night since tracking sleep is critical (esp when you have kids) and since its waterproof no need to remove the ring when hitting the pool or a shower. The app is great, syncs all the information it gathers automatically from the ring, and even syncs with Apple Health app which is awesome! Battery life is great considering its size - I've worn it for several days on a single charge/
Cons: No cons whatsoever! Product does exactly what its intended to do.
I would highly recommend the Motiv Ring to anyone interested in tracking their fitness and health with a device that is small, stylish, unique and can literally be worn literally anytime of the day with any outfit. Great work Motiv!
One reason I wanted a ring and not my Fitbit is I miss wearing a watch. I used to wear both and a friend said "you wear two watches?". It's also less obtrusive in terms of displaying info and just bulkiness. When I wanna go to the app I'm given all the information I need when I want it....and the design is pretty cool as well.
