This is one of those things that works fine as long as you don't expect too much and just use it for the basics. I wanted it for two reasons - occasional power outages and to take out to the cabin in West Texas. We can use this with our generator in the event of a hurricane or rare ice storm that leaves us with no power for several days again.

The two burners aren't meant to be used with full size cookware at the same time though - the burners are too close together and the entire cooktop is too small for that. It isn't a replacement for an actual stove, just a supplement of sorts. Cooking a couple of eggs in a small skillet or a single can of soup in a small sauce pan is fine.

My unit gets hot fast and worked just fine the two times that I've used it so far. We've done soup and grilled cheese sandwiches on this which is pretty much what we will use it for out at the cabin as well with the generator. It's a handy thing to have around in a pinch....or the zombie apocalypse.

I know my headline - "this is not a 220 appliance" is duh, but I needed the reminder myself. I thought it would be great this summer to be able to set it up and cook on it on the front porch, to avoid heating up the house. My first use, I had to boil a stew for several hours. I set up the burner, put the pot on it, with a lid on, and left it all afternoon. When I returned to check on it at dinner time, it was bubbling nicely, the stew was cooked to perfection and I was one happy customer - lovely dinner but no added heat in the kitchen. A week or so later I decided to hard boil some eggs. This time my experience was not as good. Despite getting the water up to boiling on my stovetop before moving it to this burner, which I had preheated, when I returned after the timer went off (12 mins), the water was no longer boiling and the eggs were not cooked. It was pointed out to me by a family member that an appliance that plugs into a 110 outlet will never have the capacity of a 220 stove. So take from this what you will. I still love having the option to cook outside, but now realize I have to be a little more picky about what it is used for. For an extended cook time, where it has time to reach the desired temp, it is GREAT. For something that requires a more precise cook time, it does not work as well. Overall, I am happy thought. It is well packaged, well constructed and does its job - within its pre-determined limitations.

I got this mainly for use during the holidays for extra cooking space. No matter what, there never seems to be enough burners or ovens, even though I do already use 2 of the 3 pot slow cookers as well.

I've used this electric burner a few times now to try it out in the meanwhile and it's worked out fine. I love that it is so slim and compact, so it is easy to store. I have way too small appliances and not enough storage space. Even in the box, it is slim in height and width so it can fit in a drawer or cupboard without taking up much space at all.

It heats up fine and evenly. One thing the instruction book does say is to use pots and pans that are a smaller size than the coil. Well, that'd be pretty small and I've used bigger ones, same as I do on my regular electric stove, with no problems. It heats up quickly and the body of the unit does get hot, too, so keep that in mind as well. It is light weight, so it is easy to move around and handle, but also leads to the whole unit getting hot pretty quickly.

Not a bad little burner though. I dont have any complaints as of yet.

Ok, the nature of this thing is it gets hot and in-turn has a lot of warning labels, some of the warnings in the manual are pretty entertaining, but then again the fact they include the warnings are because someone did something silly. The burner is low profile, it fits a standard pot/pan perfectly. Easy to operate, easy to setup, easy to transport. Overall if you need one of these you can't go wrong with this one. I use it in a little kitchenette area I am setting up.

I remember when these kind of things were considered "dangerous."

Still, for an extra basic burner for when all the burners are taken or for that week end camping trip... it's okay.

So it's convenient, light weight (easy to carry and store), and works (wouldn't use it for bigger pans/pots).

Just keep a close eye on it and a fire extinguisher handy.

This was a lot larger than I expected. So the benefit of that is that I can put two full sized stockpots on it. However, the downside is that it's not "easily portable" as the title implies. It's not bad, mind you, just large and will take up some trunk space. It's pretty slim, though. I am able to use this burner for cooking demonstrations at retirement homes and for extra stovetop space for simmering large pots of soup or side dishes when the stove is occupied like on Thanksgiving. I can also use it to cook outdoors for barbeques, pot lucks, or for when I don't want to heat up my kitchen and I can boil water out on my deck for pasta, crab/lobster dinners, or deep-frying turkey.

This is perfect for what I wanted to do out on my back deck, which is covered. Hot summertime is always when we have a bunch of great produce to eat and put up for winter. Since not a large family but, on a retirement budget, I need to watch electric bill, etc. This is working great for boiling up water for cooking up some corn on the cob and, blanching veggies I want to freeze. Keep the hot steam outside & not in my kitchen! This is also handy for when I run out of stovetop space or just to keep a pot of coffee warm while we're sitting outside..Using an old metal pot w/glass knob that still perks, lol. This is completely metal enclosed 2 burner coil element cooktop. I was surprised that it's only a 2 prong plug on the end of a pretty good length cord. This heats up very fast and throws out a lot of heat..You really must have it on a stable place, covered from the weather, and not by anything that could catch fire. Mine is about a foot away from the house too. I hadn't thought about it but, you probably could use an extension corn that was rated for appliance, have to check on that. This is portable of course so there's probably all kinds of places where you could take + use. I know many parks now that have electric available when you rent their group sites.

I absolutely love this!!!! I live in the country where our electricity likes to go out at the first drop of rain, and while we have a generator it's not hooked up to the house, and extension cables are used. With this beautiful small two burner MegaChef electric range I am able to still cook with out any trouble! When I first used this I was cooking a feast for my family, and remembered I had it in the back as I ran out of cooking space. I plugged this up, and we were ready to go in minutes! The dual range is small, and while the picture shows black I did receive a white one, which was no big deal for me at all. It does feel cheap, as it's so light and small, and I will admit the knobs and the feel of the range itself does seem fragile, but the actual coils are tight, and nice on it. And I've had no issues cooking on it at all! There are two knobs and on each one it goes to a number five heat setting at the highest and one at the lowest. I had it on five and boiled water for my foods within just a few minutes! We've also taken this camping, and because it's so light it's super easy to bring with us anywhere! I totally love it, and now my mother wants one too!

This is such a versatile appliance. My daughter wants it for her camper, but I want it for cooking outside when frying "smelly" food, such as fried chicken or fish. I make my own hummingbird nectar (4 parts water to 1 part natural sugar), and this heats the mixture to boiling without a problem. It's just like the coil burners on an old fashioned electric stove except it has just two burners that are portable. There are dial temperature controls for each coil and two small cooking pots or pans will fit at the same time. Outside, I just put the appliance on our stone decking, but inside I use a heatproof mat to protect my counters. I think it's great quality and should last a long time.

We took this burner on our recent road trip and we have been using it on the go without any problems. We have an outlet in our car and we can cook while out and about. This burner has coils that heat up fast, so far they have heated up evenly and it has come very handy when we don't feel like eating out. It is very light and slim, so you can take it everywhere and store easily. Regulating the temperature is done with the knob on the panel, so using it is pretty straightforward, although it is mostly for light to moderate cooking I"m not sure how it would withstand some heavy duty pans. Overall this is a great addition to our road trip and camping gear.
