I have had my freezer for about three months. It has woked fine and I have it grounded with a surger with nothing else connected. I did not know that this freezer has " cyclopene foam" and has a sign with "fire risk" and do not self repair on it warning. If I get three years out of it then I have gotten the money back I paid for it on Walmart with a two year service agreement.
The instructions read that after receiving you should allow the unit to stand for two hours so the freezer can settle.
After unboxing two boxes, the extra for returning if you would like, I allowed it to stand while I read the directions. I opened it, checked everything even the bottom plug (which was loose) and you might not notice if you didn't. This was important because it's a drain plug for defrosting and you wouldn't want to run your freezer with that being open or it would run hot. Thank God I checked every detail.
It also needs space on each side of 6 inches. Defrost once a year and do not fill to the top. This freezer is as deep as it is tall and I like it. I check it every day to make sure all is great. I don't run it on high but I get a rock hard freeze. Do not locate this by a heater or you could have a fire risk and or damage the unit by making it work harder to keep cold.
If you follow simple instructions, ground your freezer, check your plugs and don't pack it full to top you should be okay. It does not need to be set on Max cold to get a rock hard freeze set it slowly moving up. Just keep your eye on it and make sure proper clearance is followed and check bottom plug to make sure its there and the piece is screwed in.
