It's a nice looking product that does what it is designed to do. The interface is easy to use and allows you to quickly control the temperature. The buttons are a little touchy, but the loud beeps will alert you when buttons are pressed. I thought this would be an annoying feature, but it's actually pretty nice that the unit turns itself off when the cookware is removed from the plate for a number of seconds. If you want to avoid the beeping though, it's just as easy to tap the power button when finished cooking. The power cord is really my only complaint. It's a very thick cord and hard to manage. I find myself having to rearrange things on the counter just to allow for the cooktop to be plugged in. Otherwise, induction cooking is turning into a personal preference thanks to this cooktop.
I am absolutely hooked on induction. I was a die hard gas stove fan until I tried this one burner for my small apartment. We are now moving to a larger place with a full kitchen and let me tell you, I am changing every stove I have over to induction!
The only frustration I had with this model was the child lock doesn't want to come off once pressed. But it's as simple as unplugging it and it's off.
A Christmas present we opened 4 days ago but so far:
-Very attractive design
-Arrived quickly and in good condition (I ordered it a few weeks before but opened on Xmas)
-Gets to heat level/temperature very, very quickly (water boils about 2x faster)
-The 1800 watts allows it to create a lot of heat on "high" -plenty to get a good sear.
-Responds very quickly when you change heat level/temperature -even more control than our Thermador gas stove. (example: made eggs over-easy, lowered temp during cooking so wouldn't overcook -instant response -eggs were perfect)
-Holds temperature very well (a simmer for example)
-Doesn't add heat to the room when you're cooking. This is probably my favorite feature. You don't feel the heat as you're standing in front of it as you're cooking. Unlike every gas & electric stove I've used, there's no wasted heat. One thing we've cooked on it was a big pot of stew; with the lid on you couldn't feel the heat (the pot gets hot of course but you don't).
-Clean up is easy. Because it's a glass top any spills wipe-up easily.
-It's light so easy to move around, store
-the only negative is that it makes a little noise but less than our built-in microwave, The microwave cabinet absorbs some of the noise and even so the induction cooktop is quieter.
-This isn't a negative but it takes a little getting used to because it's so responsive.
I think the next kitchen will have a full induction cooktop instead of gas.
Wow! I just cooked up some chicken the way I've dreamed of making it: small bite size pieces fried/steamed/ and crustied in a mix of oils: I used coconut, sesame and olive; and then a little bit of honey; and the juice of one lime.... This mixture never would fly in my electric fry pan - because of the many different heat levels I use.
I put the chicken in the oils and cook until it turns white and I put the lid on the pan so it steams through.
Then I add the honey and lime and throw in the lime skins for extra flavor, but then I turn up the heat really high to brown it; and then, here's the trick: I turn the heat off so it doesn't burn.
With the way induction heating goes, its really instant. Press the button and the heat goes up and down that quickly and it doesn't stay on the burner, just in the pan the food its being cooked in.
No more chopping and preparing while the meal is cooking--this is a quick way of cooking and everything needs to be ready to go, go, go!
I thought the cooktop would be intimidating. But I just turn it on, go to power and click the plus and minus thing. I haven't had a need to use the timer yet. I noticed when I click -- actually its just a very light touch -- like on a smart phone -- I noticed the temperature scrolled through the various settings from warm to stir fry.
It cooks quick or slow, depending on what number you put it on. This morning I fried eggs. I like the centers firm and no wiggly white stuff. I put them on a high heat to get them going, and a lower heat to cook it the way I like... and they were perfect.
This is the best cooking investment I have made. I'm going to get a ''magnetic'' saucepan and possibly retired the microwave, if I find a sauce pan with a pour spout. With all the fuss going on today about microwave food, I think its about time.
We bought this induction cooktop a month ago for our new house. We have electric stove in the house as well - We have always worked on gas and therefore did not like electric. My sister in law highly recommended induction cooking to us - she is a leading endocrinologist and an expert in nutrition. I was a bit apprehensive in the beginning but before spending $3000 on a Bosch or a Miele, I decided to try with a single cooktop. But wow what a machine. It cooks in 1/3rd the time of electric or gas. My mom has been using gas stove for years and she was blown away by how quickly she can cook anything on induction. I clean the kitchen, and what a relief this machine is. Since the surface (Ceram Schott glass surface) does not get hot (induction cooking is based on magnetic base and only heats the base), you can just wipe off the spills. I use CeramBryte to keep the Ceram Schott surface looking like new and it takes no more than 27 seconds (yes I times it!).
Now onto this machine - Fagor 1800 Watt Induction cooktop. This amazing little machine is brilliant with one flaw. it has easy temperature control, timer (90 minutes max), and surface lock. It cooks really really well. So much so, that my mom is now getting one too. We cook twice a day so you can imagine. Flaw - it is loud. The fan is quite loud. For the life of me I cannot figure out why this induction cooktop has a loud fan.
I am sold!

Love everything about this cooktop...have it next to my stove and hardly ever use my stove at all..Just bring a small magnet with you to test magnetic bottom of cookware for use...
I am very pleased with this portable induction cooktop and I have used it almost everyday. It is very easy to use and performs very good. It is a beautiful design with a quality glass top that is very easy to clean. My cookware, regardless of the size heats evenly from side to side with no hotspots. This is a good product by a reputable company. I recommend this induction cooktop very highly.
works great
Needed a cooking surface for soul crushing work. Cooktop is fast and efficient when paired with the appropriate cooking instruments. Can finally eat a nice steak without having to eat with incompetent co-workers or morbidly obese boss.
bought 3 weeks ago as an extra burner and for camping. LOVE IT!! i have fagor pressure cookers already and they are magnetic and fit perfectly on the surface. no hot spots, and very even cooking. no problems with heating up--within a minute it is HOT. water boiled so much faster. have sautéed with it and works well. hubby loves it as well! we now can have 2 cooking stations in the kitchen. 4 stars as we have only had it for 3 weeks and not sure of the life expectancy, and have not used the lower heat levels. it was purchased at a local kitchen store, not thru amazon.
