These blades are for the Expression series of Cricut machines. Do NOT purchase these if you are using an Explore or Maker series machine.
I must have gotten a defective one, because it didn't cut worth a darn. But Amazon was great about replacing it, and the one that I received next works the way it is supposed to. As an example, I've included a photo of the same project, done with the same settings, on the same mat. The one on top was the first (defective) blade and the one below was the replacement blade. The first one did not even go all the way through the chipboard and it shredded the board along it's way.
I have included this information in case it happens to someone else. Amazon does not accept the defective blades back so it couldn't have been a used blade.
I'm still not super thrilled with the replacement blade, as it doesn't seem to do any better than the regular blade. They told me at Cricut the only difference is that it's a little longer and can reach a little deeper, however, the sharp part of the blade itself seems to be the same size. The difference in length seems so insignificant and I have not yet come across a project where it was absolutely necessary. It's not sharper or stronger or anything like that, according to the associate at Cricut I spoke with.
I hope this helps someone make an educated decision.
Super price compared to buying a single blade BUT it isn't meant for the Cricut Explore Air even though it says it is for all, so i took off a star. It ends up cutting throught the paper backing of Oracal 651 vinyl. I set the dial back one notch and it works as expected most of the time, but will still cut through the paper on thinner vinyl types like the 651 gold or silver.
Trying to save money, I purchased the non-Cricut brand of replacement cutting blades thinking they would work somewhat similar to the real brand. I was very, extremely disappointed. I purchased a set with 3 different types of blades to accommodate all the materials I had to cut, but NONE OF THEM WORKED FOR ANYTHING! I even ruined a few cutting mats along the way trying to adjust all types of settings, just to get one decent cutout of vinyl.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON IMMITATION REPLACEMENT CRICUT BLADES. At first I thought I had misaligned the blades, maybe.. so I turned them around in every which way possible. That was not the problem at all. I finally purchased the authentic cutting blades and voila. Perfect cuts right away!
Purchase these blades and you will save yourself tons of time, effort, and money. These blades are phenomenal. Will definitely purchase these again, when needed.
This package of deep cut blades showed up exactly as described in their original Cricut packaging. Even though these blades are advertised in the description for use in the Cricut Explore machines, they DO work perfectly with the newer Cricut Maker machine as well.
The Cricut Explore DeepCut Blade comes with one (1) Cricut Deep Cut Blade black housing and one (1) single Deep Cut Blade is included. I would highly recommended ordering extra blades at the time of purchase if you plan on using the deep cut a lot! Love this deep cut blade. I have the cricut explore air 2 and it made cutting leather really easy. It cut through birchwood but i did have to adjust the settings so it would cut through my mat.
Good product. Unfortunately, the blade holder looks silver, but it's black. Not that it matters, but when I was told to get the black blade holder for the deep cut blade, I was confused and stated I only saw a silver one.
I just barely put this bad boy to use on some Glitter paper for a project I was working on. This blade cut through like butter!
I’ve used the deep cut blade several times and it worked great on thicker material just like I expected. I’m hoping to use it for a long time because I can sharpen the blade with aluminum foil. You scrunch the foil into a ball, then stab the blade into the foil several or more times to sharpen it. Yeah!
This os exactly what i needed. Some reviews said that this would not work the Explore Air machines but it does with mine. I make faux leather bows and earrings and although i did have to tweak some settings to get used to the blade it 100% works and provides clean cuts and straight lines.
