I replaced a 1980's oven/stove with a new range and Cosmo range hood. I removed my old ductwork because it was rectangular. When I connected the flexible duct that comes with the Cosmo directly to the range hood, it was really loud even on the first setting because the air hitting the ridges creates a lot of turbulence. I figured out that the range hood can be quieter by connecting a short length of 6" round rigid duct to the hood first. From there I used a short section of the flexible duct to make the 90 degree turn. It takes less space than an elbow duct. The flexible duct joins to a four-foot length of rigid duct that goes outside. The other bonus is that there's no chance the rigid duct will interfere with the flaps on the air outlet. Since most of the air goes through rigid duct, the Cosmo's first and second settings are very quiet. The third setting is loud but I doubt I'll use it very often unless something is burning at which point noise is the least of my worries. I like the LED lights and machine-washable filters. Very convenient. The unit has exceeded my expectations. The only downside is the screws that came with the unit are too short so I used my own wood screws. It's still a five-star product.
We recently moved into a new house and soon learned that the nice, quality name brand, fairly new, slim-style range hood that was installed was all bark with no bite. It was pretty to look at and the light worked... that's about it. In researching why it worked so poorly, I learned about CFMs. The range hood had about 300 CFMs. Basically, it didn't suck (actually, it did). My point... the "whisper quiet" fan was so quiet because it barely ventilated. Every time we created even the slightest amount of smoke (say, bacon or steak), the smoke alarm would go off because the fan was terrible even when run on the high setting. Further research led me to purchase the Cosmo... and we love it! It looks good and, best of all, it sucks! In a good way! We plan to remodel our kitchen but we need to cook in the meantime without having all of the windows open all winter. We bought the Cosmo because it's rated so highly, it has high CFMs, it was affordable, and it will meet our needs both now and after our remodel which will include new cabinets and switching from electric to gas. Works great! Has lots of power. The house is old and had an existing vents hole so I had to fabricate a custom exhaust. Because of the power it is a bit loud I think. But I like it cause I know it's working and sucking everything out. Was just look g at some at another big block store. And was laughing at the 210cfm and their price forget about it.
Although I purchased this "Very Good", it was actually NEW, just outer box was used. Very well packaged. All accessories packed inside. Peeling off the blue shipping film was the most challenging aspect. Unpacked, plugged it in and tested it. We already had a 7 inch round vent pipe so the INCLUDED round extension was easy to install. The challenge was holding it in place and getting 4 screws to go in STRAIGHT. I ended up laying on my back across the stove, so as to push up straight. When I installed the grease trap baffles they do not lay flat, looks lop-sided. When the fan is on they are held in position. NOISE: No different than existing fan we had (you can have a conversation with someone but maybe 5 feet away would be better than at the stove. Low speed much quieter. SUCTION AIR FLOW: Tested with a receipt and at about 3-4 inches from VENT it was pulled up and held. Nice!
SUGGESTION: A paper template with the screw positions would have been very helpful.
CONCLUSION: If you have an existing vent pipe, installing this with another person is not difficult. It is prewired with an AC Ground plug. The LED lights cast a soft glow on stop top. Now I need a bottle of Stainless Steel polish.
The overall strength is great, comparable to a commercial restaurant hood.( I build restaurants.) Very powerful 3 speed fan. Led lights. Especially like Commercial grade filters that can be ran in the dishwasher. Installation was simple. 1 Caveat however. The hood actually measures 29.5" wide. So if you are trying to fit a standard 30" wide opening you will need to add 1/2" to opening width of cabinet, otherwise you will have an unsightly crack that will catch grease and attract insects. Overall a great product for the money.

The hood is well made and definitely gets the air out of the kitchen. The LED light is not really worth anything, dim and cold. That reduced it for me to 4 star. If one replaces the provided bulbs with some quality lights the hood would be a great 5 star product.
Hood vent arrived well packaged and looks great! Install was easier than expected - just 2 screws to hold it up though I'm not quite finished. It's supposed to be installed 24-30" above the cooktop, and my wife initially wanted it at 30" but I may lower it 2-4 inches. I used a galvanized steel duct purchased for $5 from Lowes for looks and to keep the noise down. It is not as loud as I expected it to be. I'm using the flexible duct that came with the hood to span the distance in the attic to the roof vent. Overall I feel it is well made and an excellent value compared to comparable products at big box stores.
Very high quality hood. I was slightly concerned because the price was much lower than comparable hoods. The cfm's are amazing. Even installed higher than standard it pulls very well over our gas range. The only thing we don't care for is that the LED's are very blue. With them on, it is difficult to see the actual flame on the burner.
From a Maryland location, I ordered the item on the 23rd. and received it on the 24th. Unexpectedly quick. The sale price was comparable to locale purchase but with features of the unit, priced below. The packaging was unbelievable. Sturdy box. Foam padding and various screws and wall plug to assist with mounting. Since I had already removed the old unit it took no more than 30 minutes, start to stop and the job was complete. My wife is very happy with the new unit.
Unit was easy to install. Fast shipment. It works perfectly. I like the feature of individual buttons for the different fan speeds, rather than repeatedly pushing a button to change speeds. It has plenty of power to pull steam & smoke from cooktop even at low speed. The dishwasher safe baffles/ filters make it easy to keep clean. It fit as described.
