CellarPro® 1800XT Wine Cellar Cooling Unit

I recently replaced the cooling unit in my BYO wine cabinet with the CellarPro 1800XT. The cooling unit the cabinet came with is the wine enthusiast Grand Cru 800. The Grand Cru has a very poor design, I had to make modifications to the cool air output to get it to work correctly from the beginning. After about a year and a half the Grand Cru colling unit stopped being able to cool the cabinet, and started freezing up. I thought this was due to some unusual amount of humidity, but it was not. I aired out the cabinet for about a month to see if that would reduce any built up humidity. The cooling unit just would not work. I have no idea what happened to it, I suspect it developed a leak in the cooling system, the fans and compressor still turned on.

Anyway the CellarPro unit is very well designed! They have taken a pretty simple device and made some nice improvements / features that work well. It was able to bring my cabinet down to 58 degrees F in about 15 min from 72 degrees. It also did not cycle too much the first night, at my surprise, sense the wine was all at 72.

Mounting the unit was pretty simple, I just had to cut the hole bigger and drill two holes in the top of the cabinet. The instructions that come with the unit are wonderful. The instruction manual came in a plastic binder, so that it can be kept for years. The whole thing is clearly designed to last many years. Which is important for storing wine.

The price of the CellarPro is high, but it is worth it. I just wish I would have known had bad the other cooler was and invested in the CellarPro from the beginning. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way, don't be like me, and just start off with the CellarPro unit.

The CellarPro is flat out AWESOME.

I just replaced my cooling unit on a BYO wine cabinet with the CellarPro. The original cooling unit that came with the cabinet worked for less than 2 years, ran all the time and had big temperature swings. After the unit quit working, I called the company where I purchased the wine cabinet and they recommended the CellarPro. The CellarPro was quite expensive relative to what I paid for the wine cabinet, but now I guess I know why.

Installing the CellarPro was fairly easy with the correct tools, jigsaw and drill, but I suggest you take your time insulating around the unit to make sure you get a good airtight seal. So here is the best part about the CellarPro...In a cabinet environment like mine this thing hardly runs. Seriously. Every time I walk by the thing it's NOT running and the temperature reads 54-56 degrees. I placed an additional thermometer in the cabinet and it's spot on. When it does run it's very quiet for a refrigeration unit.

My opinion is that the CellarPro is worth the money. The folks who make this really are Pros.

In service about 3 months. Very good product so far. Perhaps should give it five stars, but I want to wait and see how it lasts. That is the key. Ti date, it is working well in a challenging installation. No complaints and holding the temperatura in Houston, in a 700 bottle cellar, all mounted inside, but on an outside wall.

Works as advertised. Was critical to seal airleaks , especially under the access door to the cellar. As the instructions note without adequate sealing the unit simply acts as a dehumidifier.

I have had the CellarPro 1800XT installed for about 4 months now. Initially it seemed to be running quite a bit. I called the company and one of the owners answered and gave me tons of advice. Wow. Talk about customer support.
