We frequently visit my inlaws in Ireland. Usually we use a giant U.K. wall adapter and U.S. wall charger to charge our phones. Not only is this bulky but, I always get nervous regarding frying our phones, etc. This year my son received a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and I decided to purchase this. It is only about 2 inches tall and was the only charger we needed for our phones, media players and the Kindle Fire. Amazon should just market this as a UK USB charger. LOVE!
I moved to England a while ago and had my Kindle power plug plugged into an adapter and then into the wall. This worked fine except that I live in an old house with wonky walls and sometimes the plug and/or adapter would come apart a little and then my Kindle Fire would not charge. Bought this and voila! All is perfect again. Bonus was that I just came back from a holiday in Cyprus and they use the same British plugs there, so my adapter made the trip with me.
I bought this just as a USB charging device for my visit to the UK earlier this year. It worked perfectly and charged our phones, gaming devices, etc. I do think it's a little pricey, but knowing it was meant to charge the Kindle, I thought it would be reliable (even though we have no Kindle). Upon arriving in the UK, I did see some on sale for cheaper. However, I'm still happy with it. Very handy to have while travelling.
I found this adapter very useful. Not only does it charge my Kindle, it also charges my phone, my daughters phone and her I Pod. So instead of bringing 4 chargers with us when we travel we now only need the one.
It charges my Kindle in the UK

Description
I have only used it once on a recent trip. Did the job and easily charged the Kindle. It was expensive, but I didn't want to take any chances on the trip as I had travel things that I wanted to use.
I was able to charge my camera, my Kindle, and my iPhone while
Vacationing in Ireland. It worked well and was small enough that it didn't take much room in my suitcase. The only downside is that it has only one port - I needed 2 of them!
I love my Paper White Kindle ,especially the back lighting . The touch screen is very user friendly .
I find that as i do a lot of reading on my kindle ( approx 3 to 4 hours a day ) that i have to charge it as least once a week , which is way more than my first kindle. I think that is because of the back lighting ,It is also a lot smaller and easier to handle.
If you re traveling in England and relying on your American-based Kindle for reading while you are away this is a must-have. You can recharge anywhere you can find an outlet, so you don't have to wait until you get home to find out "who dun it"
What can you really say about an adapter? It works! Isn't that the main thing? It's a bit smaller and neater than I thought, which is nice, and it's great that I don't need to plug my kindle into the laptop whenever it needs a charge. Recommended!
