Amazon Fire HD 8 Case (Previous Generation - 6th), Black

I was stupid enough to place my tablet on the roof of my car. Lucky for me i placed it magnetic cover down on the roof. I drove from Vermont to Massachusetts and stoped for gas. There was my tablet with that magic magnetic cover, still sitting on the roof after 150 miles. I love my tablet case

First off, I use this with case folded back and haven't had any issues with the tablet turning off from it. From a previous review, it is a potential issue for some. I can only base my review on my experience, which has been excellent.

I've always gone with cheaper third party cases, but decided to try the Amazon case this time. I am glad that I did. It is made specifically for the hd8, in precisely the same color as the tablet. It is well made and easy to keep clean.

Many cases are bulky and this one is not. Its truly feels like an extension of the tablet. The magnetic cover holds it open with no flapping, and holds it closed securely. It folds easily for a stand both portrait and landscape modes, and is sturdy.

Is it overpriced? Probably. However, I have no doubt this case will last the life of the tablet. Its solidly made, heavy duty. I hesitated at the price, but glad that I decided to try it.

not really sure why people are having such an issue with this cover other than not properly using it. works perfect.

you need to magnetize flap to the back of case near the camera and then pull out the stand part. simple as that.

Be advised that if you get this case and enjoy listening to audiobooks or music when the case is closed, you will need to use scissors to cut openings thru the neoprene on the left side, as shown in the photo I will attach.

While I think the case is a bit over-priced, I believe this is THE best case for the Kindle Fire. My first experience with this case was with my Fire 7. I bought a cheaper case and it was ok, but then I saw this case on a friend's Kindle 7 and bought one. Loved it! I sold the 7 to get the Fire 8 and when I went to order a case, this case was not yet available, so I bought a different one. When I saw this case became available for my new Kindle, I bought it without hesitation. Again...love it!

I don't really prop up the Fire to watch movies, but the reason I am such is fan is because I fold the cover over on itself when I read. Other covers do not fold over straight and the Fire "slides" in my hand. On other covers I have had, the cover overlaps on the right side and is not comfortable to hold in one hand to read. This cover folds over with no flap/gap/wiggle and it stops just short of the right side so it is VERY comfortable to hold while reading.

Description

This case took some getting used to. I played around with it, wondering how to make it stand the tablet up as shown in the photo. It turned out that I had to rotate the tablet upside-down. No big deal. It has small magnets at the corners, which are part of how the kickstand works because you stick one corner and fold the other one out to make it stand. I was trying to figure out where to put the Kindle because I needed my very small counter for food prep. Since it has magnets, it occurred to me to stick it on the fridge. The magnets are strong enough to hold the Kindle there, which I find surprisingly handy. My only complaint is that it could use an elastic strap that I could slide my hand into like other tablet cases I've used. That would make it easier to hold in the upright position for reading. Not a deal-breaker, but I wish it had one. That would have earned this product a fifth star.

This is a great case for your Kindle Fire. We recently upgraded our devices, and they don't come with any type of protective casing. I was hoping to find one similar to the last case I had, but they don't seem to be available anymore. I was a little hesitant seeing that the cover "folded" to be able to use it as a stand. Typically one would think that would make the case feel "cheap" and not hold up. I waited awhile before reviewing this to see how well it held up. Surprisingly, we have had no issues with it. Although a little pricey for what it is, it protects the kindle well and in the end, that makes it worth it. If you're looking for a tough cover to protect your reading device, consider this one. You won't regret it.

I've always bought 3rd party cases because Amazon cases seemed to be over priced. When I pre ordered the fire hd8 I didn't see any other case so I went ahead and pre ordered this case. So glad I did it fits perfectly the case is light love the magnetic top of the case and the bottom is plastics which makes the case very strong and I believe will protect the kindle very happy with case worth every cent in the future I will always buy Amazon cases

I wanted a tablet to watch Netflix/Amazon video/etc. so I didn't have to use my phone and kill the battery's Heath by constantly recharging it. Normally I'm one to spend more for a higher end product but I didn't see the point in spending hundreds for a tablet just to use for Netflix and casual web browsing so I didn't even bother looking at iPads. I ended up going with the 8 inch fire HD because of its price and features and I regret NOTHING. The battery lasts a while and the screen is big enough without it being a brick to carry around. I also got Amazons case for it so that I could prop it up(the case is also pretty legit, love that one as well). While the sound does get a little muffled by the case, it's nothing I can't deal with and if I do end up wanting a better sound I just pair it with my Bose soundlink mini and bam, problem solved. The camera is crap but hey, it's not why I bought it. The fire is fast enough that it opens applications swiftly. My only issue with it is that it does take a while to charge, an hour charge won't get you much. Might want to invest in an external battery from Anker or something. OVERALL 4.5/5 stars because it's an amazing, affordable tablet with its only flaws being the long charging time and crappy camera. Highly recommend!

Not many tablet covers support portrait mode, and most of those do so poorly: either the device is wobbly and unstable, or it tilts at an obvious, distracting angle. The Amazon covers, however, provide stable support in both portrait and landscape orientations. The only problems with them are that they are boring, and they are expensive. Other brands of covers are available in a riot of colors and patterns, but the Amazon ones are as bland as could be. I suppose it is a point in their favor that their colors exactly match the colors of the tablets, but otherwise there is nothing to say about the design. And their cost? You could buy one of those other, nicer looking ones for half the price of the Amazon covers. You pay thirty dollars for what looks like one dollar’s worth of plastic. Unless being able to read in portrait mode is important to you, you might want to look into the covers from one of the other vendors.
