I give it 4 stars because I did a lot of research before I bought. I accepted the fact before hand that it does small loads and leaves clothes wrinkled. It doesn't clean clothes as well as a top loader full size washer. If your clothes get really dirty, this is not for you. I'm a full rv'er and use it every other day. I use a laundry mat occasionally when loads are bigger and dirtier. I've had it for over 2yrs now and NO breakdowns. HOWEVER it does require maintenance cleaning. You do have to remove the soap dispenser drawer for cleaning excessive soap deposits. THERE is NO lint screen! In time the vent line internally as well as the external vent flex hose gets clogged. The clothes take excessive time to dry and washer dryer could overheat due to reduced air flow! I'm a handy guy and know these things. Its been thru over 600 cleaning-drying cycles! This machine is not for you if you can't handle it. Its a little bit of a pain to service but it has kept me out of laundry mats a lot. ***UPDATE**** Jan 17 2018. Needed a lint cleaning again. Same as before. Pain in the butt, otherwise no problems. Machine still works great. *** update** Nov 2018 Time to clean lint out again.
Just installed mine last night in my travel trailer/rv and washed my first load.
I turned into an all night adventure (not the washer/dryers fault) as I was also installing a new sink, water lines, stand pipe, drains etc.
First off, this thing is heavy as heck. I currently have a standalone Haier compact washing machine and a compact dryer - they are about 40-60lbs each. This guy is supposedly just 145lbs but holy-roly-poly batman it's an awkward 145 that feels like 200 lbs. My other washer has little nooks on the sides you can use to lift it, this guy doesn't. The only thing you can safely lift from is the bottom or sides - you'll break the soap dispenser tray if you try to use it, and there is nothing on the back to lift with. As I installed mine into an RV, just getting it up the three little stairs into the unit was half the battle. You have to tip it and walk one side of the unit to move it around - the feet a rubberized so it's not going to want to slide anywhere.
As for the actual installation, the only issue I really had were those ridiculous shipping bolts on the back of the unit. It's a long rubbery grommet with a green cap and a heavy duty bolt running through it. The manual says to just remove them like you can unscrew the bolt and pop the grommet off by hand... that was soooo not the case on mine. The grommets are so tight that I had to use pliers to twist/pull/shimmy the grommet (4" long!) out of the hole. Suprise, that didn't work. I actually ended up breaking the head of the plug off and the main body dropped down inside the back of the unit. So now I had the pleasure of tipped the guy over on the side, unscrewing the bottom (easy enough, 4 screws) and trying to find it. That was just the first one. The method that seemed to work the best for me was to unscrew the bolt, then insert the bolt back into the grommet by about 1/2" (same hole it came out of) and use the bolt to pry at the head of the plug from the inside until you can pull/pry that ridiculous thing out. I spent at least twenty minutes trying to get the first one out (that broke) and referenced the manual 3 times looking for some trick.. but all it says is "remove it"
I'm not sure if mine were an oddball case but holy heck that was the hardest part of the install.
If you're having issues with yours, feel free to break the plug - it'll fall inside and you just have to go get it.
After that fiasco, I moved it into position, hooked up the water lines (hoses are really long.. too long imo they are like 8-10ft) and hooked up the dryer vent. The dryer vent is standard 4" but only because of a built in adapter that takes it from what looks like a 2" port to a 4" connection. I used a hose clamp to secure the dryer vent hose to the adapter, but don't overtighten this - I set my power screw driver to the lowest torque setting and went with that.
Once it was all hooked up, I had to read the manual just to understand what all the buttons and knobs did. Fyi, the 1-13 wash cycle dial thingy is not a light-heavy load dial... each number represents a different wash OR DRY setting. I set mine on 11 at first thinking "ok that's a notch under heavy" but it was actually a dry wash (wth?) cycle that kicked the dryer on. I thought the thing was broken at first when the dryer came on instead of washing. After reading the manual a little better (cmon guys it was like 4am at this point) I realized "3" was a good standard wash mode and it started up and went about it's business as you'd expect.
I set the dry time on 120 mins, that was way to long for one pair of jeans, a shirt, a pair of socks and a towel. The unit ran for over 4 hours... will need to play with settings to cut that down a bit - I know I over dryed the clothes as well. The manual suggests 80-100 mins for a normal load of clothes so I likely should have done 60mins.
One note about the spin cycles... with it being a front loader this is a different kind of spin vibration then what I was used too. My old washer was a top loader, and when it would spin up with an uneven load it would rock the unit back and forth and get noisy. This is front load, so the clothes are pretty much always going to be uneven (all at the bottom right!) and while the unit has stabilizing bars built in it shook the living daylights out of my travel trailer. I was actually concerned my trailer was going to shift off of the stabilizing jacks! No joke! If you're in a travel trailer, make sure you have a plan to secure this thing down very well. I haven't secured mine in yet, so hopefully, some of that trailer vibration will go away once I do. If it doesn't, I'd literally knock a star off from the amount of shaking it makes my 34' unit do. On the upside, my bed shook so much I felt like I had installed a vibrating bed and it shook me right to sleep.
FYI, if you order this from the same seller I did - check your amazon messages and answer all unknown callers that call you. They call to schedule a freight delivery and if you don't answer or check your amazon messages they cancel the order on you. I had to order twice to get mine.
The wife still loves it 3 months later. This thing runs all day long. It can wash 2 adult blue jeans with a few shirts. The trick we found is to stop it after a wash cycle, fluff the cloths, then start the drying cycle. Otherwise the pants are smashed to the tub from the spin cycle. This machine works for 2 adults and 2 kids full timing. I know that you will need to accomplish at least 2 loads a day. This is installed in a 399BHS
The Splendide WD2100XC is OUTSTANDING !!!!!!! Read the instructions, pay attention to the instructions, it will work outstanding. Understand the Splendide, it's purpose and limitations, It will do exactly what it says it will do. We do not have a wrinkle problem, select the proper setting for your load and understand that this is a small machine. We LIVE in a 32 foot RV and this is our Washer/Dryer for two people. It works. USER ERROR is not a Splendide Error !!!!!!
We full time in an RV and have for over 9 years. Always with the trip to laundromat. We debated upgrading rig just for the washer/dryer option... My Handy Man that he is said we could put one in our travel trailer with minimal effort/impact. Searched around various models and decided on this one. The install was simple enough by ourselves -- that being said my husband is VERY CAPABLE!
Small enough to fit in the door, quite that we can hear the TV still.
We did get the floor brackets to secure it in place from shift in and the 90 degree vent piece... So far all seems good. Yes. The cycles are longer then a top load one washer... All front loaders take longer. Yes. The drying times are longer. The machine is vented but it just takes longer. IT'S CONVENIENT! AND I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO THE LAUNDROMAT EVERY WEEK!
Read the manual and follow the directions....

Very Happy with the Westland Washer Dryer Vented Combo. I have used it several times and I am very happy with my cloths being clean and dry. I do small loads with not problems, T shirts, underwear, shorts. Washes and dries great. Queen size sheets and pillow cases come out great with little wrinkles. I use softer which helps with the wrinkling. The vented dryer seems to be the best. It drys completely.
My husband and I both work in the oilfield and have to wear full FR's every day. I was spending close to $40. a week at the laundromat, which is 25 miles away. I've read mixed reviews on this machine and have a neighbor who has one. My only issue was the wrinkling, but I decided to buy the washer-dryer combo and deal. Well, thanks to the reviews of others, I knew that I would need to use fabric softener, and after 20 loads of laundry, I have not had any wrinkling in anything except for the jeans. (But that's not a problem after they are shaken and put on hangers.) It is a small washer, so an average load is 1 pair jeans, 1 work shirt, 1 under shirt, and if you aren't particular about sorting, underwear and socks. I mostly use wash cycle 2 or 3 and a dry time of 60 or 80 minutes, and on cold or slightly warm water. The cycles are long, but remember, there are MANY cycles and times to choose from. If laundering King sized sheets, you'll need to do two loads...top sheet and pillow case in one and fitted sheet and pillow case in 2nd. It also does a great job on delicates. We installed this ourselves, including cutting a hole in the wall for the vent, and it was very easy. I would recommend this washer-dryer combo to anyone living in an RV. And the best part is, no more laundromat!
Had to replace 13 year old combo due to drain pump failure and parts no longer available. This unit is so quiet I hardly know that it is running. I also like the option buttons, and with the larger capacity drum, the clothes come out less wrinkled. Glad I chose this unit
I received my washer drier combo and it was well packed and had no damage. I needed help carrying it into the coach, two strong guys had no problem. I hooked it up myself I’m a 55 year old woman. I put in the brackets to keep it in place, it was a piece of cake.
I do love it, I still experimenting with it, there are a lot of wrinkles and the drier gets really hot, but I think if I experiment more with the settings I’ll cut down on some of the wrinkles. I also need to rebalance it, they said to set the back legs all the way down to the lowest, but when you set it in the cabinet and set the front on the tie down brackets it is short in the back and out of balance. All in all I’m very happy with my purchase. I hope this helps someone when setting it in the cabinet, balance it before you put it in.
This combo has been a beast. We’ve had it for 3 years exactly and have washed a load everyday without fail. Take care of it and make sure you clean it once a month and you won’t have a problem
