Before I go into my review I just want to let everyone know that the filter goes into the filter straw with the plastic tab down. The picture on the instructions was very unclear and I actually contacted KOR to confirm which way the filter went into the straw.
I just want to start out my review by saying I have had this bottle for about a year and I have been using it almost every day. Initially I liked the bottle a lot; it seemed to work fairly well at getting rid of the chlorine taste from the drinking fountain at work. I also liked the functionality of it, with the straw that can close and be protected from dirt/dust.
The issues I'm having are as follows:
The first major issue I'm having with it is a small rubber gasket piece fell out of the part the straw screws in to. It looks like it was there to regulate the water pressure within the straw. I believe it was to keep the water from falling back down into the straw after you take a drink. This is annoying because it started out as a quiet water bottle but now every time I take a sip, the water noisily rushed back down the straw (it sounds like a frog).
I don't feel like it's filtering as well as it used to, even though I have been replacing the filters.
It has become harder to keep clean, I used to go a week without having to clean it, but now I feel like I have to clean it every day.
The last thing I am noticing is that if it gets turned upside down, water leaks out, even with the lid fully closed, this may be related to the rubber gasket, but I don't know how to get that replaced. I have a co-worker with the same bottle and the same thing happened to him. It falls right into your water bottle; the filter will stop you from being able to swallow it though (fortunately!).
Please leave a comment if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.
Update: I contacted KOR and after I filled out the warranty claim form, they promptly sent me a code to get a free replacement lid. I was happy with the process, as I didn't have to go through the hassle of sending the faulty part back. I changed my rating to 5 stars because it seems that my water bottle is back to functioning like normal. I left the description of the issues I was having so that if other people experience the same thing, they will know what to do.
I bought the red-and-black version and fell in love as soon as I unpacked it. I've had a growing pile of plastic bottles in my dorm room (much to my roommate's dismay) and decided enough was enough. After a few hours of comparing reviews, I settled on the CamelBak Groove...and this one, mostly by accident. Almost instantly, I made my decision, and I haven't regretted it for a second.
The Tritan plastic is strong, feels durable, and has some weight behind it, which is more comforting for me personally than a flimsy or lighter plastic. Upon arrival I inspected the bottle for any defects - scratches, bubbles, loose adhesive, cracks - and found nothing more than a three-millimeter imperfection along the soft interior joint of the handle which was pretty astonishing. At the very least, I expected a scratch or two from manufacturing. I disassembled the bottle, inspected the straw and mouthpiece, and followed the instructions (which have probably become more clear-cut since other reviews, but just in case...soak the filter for 30 seconds and put it in rubber-side down).
The seal works, which is nice. If you need help lining up the cap use the side guards as guides and don't just yank on the lid to close it. I held the bottle upside down for ten minutes while filled to capacity and couldn't find any leaks. The sweating was pretty average, but considering it's not insulated, I'm not surprised. It's not a thermos, and not designed to keep things hot or cold, or that would be a noted feature, right?
Drinking from it takes some getting used to, but it really is comfortable on one's lips. I didn't detect any strange flavor, nor any of the typical plastic aftertaste of other bottles but I did notice a strange taste from the mouthpiece. It's very subtle, and I wouldn't have noticed it had some other reviews not pointed it out. It doesn't distract from the cleanliness of the water and, after a second or two, becomes completely unnoticeable. (It might be cool if there were flavored mouthpieces, but that's a pipe dream and I know it.)
I wouldn't suggest slamming the bottle against the ground, since that would cause most things to break or be dislodged. That being said, simply dropping my bookbag from shoulder height on to asphalt hasn't seemed to cause any damage. I'd look to some other reviews if you want a greater look into just how durable this thing is.
All in all, it's pretty perfect. The Nava holds water without leaking, even when turned upside-down. The button and locking mechanism are things I've always wanted in a water bottle and the filter, lovely design, and BPA-free plastic are all bonuses. It fits perfectly into my backpack's side pockets, and it fits into the trough lower-door trough in a car. It does not fit into a cup holder, but I don't mind - I'm used to riding either without an available cupholder or without cup holders in general. The filter works on dorm water (note: my dorm was built in the late 70's and hasn't had updated pipes since, and the water is pretty nasty) to give it a nice, clean taste, and cap is a cleverness unto itself. I no longer need to worry about losing a cap or having some easy-to-break lid hung on by a strap!
Just push, sip, and seal. It's really that easy.
(Plus: Now my roommate can't glare at me for leaving empty plastic bottles hidden in a pile on my half!)
I was initially suspect of these bottles after reading reviews about them being noisy or hard to drink through. I ordered two of them anyway and my wife and I love them. They look great and are great to drink through. It's important to note that the filter has a plastic base, that must be facing toward the bottom of the bottle when installed. I'm guessing those who complain about bottle noise while drinking have installed the filter incorrectly. I would gladly buy these again.
This was a gamble for me, as my tap water tastes horrible! I didn't expect something to be able to instantly make it taste so much better! Especially not something which doesn't use chemicals or super complicated parts. Who knew that coconuts were the solution?!?
You wash the bottle well, then put the coconut filter in the straw, with the little tab near the bottom, then you're good to go! Open the bottle top, pour water in, fill it up, and you're ready to drink. The top has a convenient latch to attach it to things, and you can flip it open with a push of a button and a little nudge. A little spout pops up and you can drink. Just take that spout into your mouth and give it a sip. amazingly my once horrid tap water now tastes good!
Sometimes (not all the times) while sipping the filter makes a noise like a little duck, which I actually love. To me it's a reminder of the icky tap water becoming fresh like a natural spring that ducks could only dream of!

Let me start my saying that this is a brilliant idea. I try to be very "green" and won't use bottles water... but I prefer drinking water more than any other beverage.
I bought three of these bottles. They are a must have for traveling - especially in other countries where the water isn't as regulated as ours and bottled water is not as available. You can fill it with tap water, maybe some crushed ice, and you are good go with great tasting water. I also take it when traveling on business because the water in hotels tends to taste very chlorinated.
The straw in one of the botttles started to slip into the bottle. I contacted the company and they couldn't have provided a better experience. Within a few days, my bottle was back in use with a new straw.
I am a customer for life!
I have tried almost every filter water bottle out there and they all have the same issue they can not deal with the pressure in the airplane. Previous bottles, you have yo have the top slightly unscrewed and then it leak water if it gets knocked over. With the Kor bottle, you still have to have to screw top slightly unscrewed to deal with pressure, but even in that state, it doesn't leak!!! I fly a couple of times a week, so it was crucial that I find a bottle that wouldn't leave me with a wet lap. Based on the plastic and rubber gaskets, I have no expectations that this bottle will last me a year. However, I will just replace is with a new one when it starts leaking on me. Using brushes for baby bottles make it easy to clean.
I couldn't be happier with the KOR Nava filter water bottle. I travel with it and the water always tastes great. Stays tightly shut in my bag, easy to add ice cubes to, washes up easily, and doesn't tip over easily. I've known for a long time that I need to drink more water and for the first time, I really am doing so!
This is a solid, well built personal filtration water bottle.
Pros:
Tight fitting lid.
good spring system mouth piece that hides away under the lid and popups when you open it.
Good, wide straw which is easily replaceable at the manufacturers website if need be.
Filter makes water taste better (I live in the city), and is easily replaceable for a reasonable price (5.00)
Rubber ring on bottom to keep bottle on a surface without sliding.
Fairly abuse resistant. The bottle has survived a 10 foot drop down a stairwell.
Cons.
For the price I wish the bottle came with two filters.
Love this water bottle. I use it at work for the nasty tasting water there. I noticed a difference right away. Love the design and the tip of the straw. It has a rubber ring on the bottom that keeps the bottle from sliding everywhere. The latch to the lid is nice and sturdy. The button is hard enough to press that I don't think you will have any problem with the lid popping open when you don't want it to. Can be used with or without the filter.
