This charger is needed if you want to charge your device quickly. If you have all day to wait, any old charger will work.
I am a stickler for quality and matched brands accessories. The charger (mated to the Kindle specs) works best. Experience has hard lessons when cheap knock off look alikes are used. Long term usage and high performance quality may cost a bit more up front - but if you have to buy 2 or 3 knock offs; even at a lesser cost for each; still cost more in the long term.
This charger works as it is supposed to, and I am confident that it will last a long time. I have several Kindle types, & matched the chargers for each one. All are still working well even after 4 to 6 years of use.
Very expensive charger. I think the kindle should come with it as does all other tablets, including the fire, which is way cheaper and includes the charger for just $50. It is a pretty large charger though and doesn't fit in the kindle box with the kindle, at all.
Not a cheap plug from the check out, this works for my phone and kindle without the nasty reminder that the cord or plug are not strong enough.
Reliable and well-regulated for dual voltage (110-120v and 220-240v) without too much heat generation in Europe/Asia.

According to the info, the Paperwhite charges faster with the charger made for a Kindle but I think any brand will work. It came in a package deal when I bought my Paperwhite otherwise I would've skipped it & used what I've been using for my old Kindle. I gave it 4 stars, because I like it, but feel it's overpriced.
Meet my needs but feel should be supplied when actually purchasing the Oasis E-Reader.
I have been pleased with everything I have bought from Amazon. The quality is good & the price reasonable. Now the price of the adapter, I thought was a little over priced, but the quality of it was good. I'm waiting for something to come here at any time. A while back I went to a store near here for 3 batteries for my 3 cordless phones for here at home. Well, they wanted $63.60 for the 3. The young man whispered to me to go to Amazon so I did. I paid less then $10 for the batteries & I sure was a happy camper!!! I have shared this with many of my friends. I say "go to Aamzon"!!!
I purchased this item for my Kindle Paperwhite, 10th edition. I’m not sure why Amazon suggests this exact piece for a kindle. I did use the “chat” option to get a better understanding, but the only thing I got out of it is it will help the battery life last longer. I have had two previous kindles and never knew about it and they worked just fine with out it. I can’t leave less than a five star rating because the product is not defective. The product works just fine, like every other type. To me the question lies with Amazon. I received this new kindle for a birthday/Christmas present back in December, so I figured I would try it out. The price is outrageous if you ask me. After reading the details on this exact one and the regular Amazon Basics one, I didn’t and still don’t see a difference, so I feel like it’s a scam. These are just my thoughts. I would be happy to hear more about it to better help me understand what makes this work better than other ones, especially for the kindle.
So yes this adapter works perfect for my All-New Paperwhite but I think it's way overpriced. I honestly considered not buying it because other people said they were able to use Samsung and Apple adapters to charge their Kindles, but I'm paranoid about it shorting out because that's what happened to my Nook Tablet and I was left without one and that was even with the correct adapter and everything. I just bought my Kindle and since I'm paying a pretty penny for it, I'm not going to chance something happening to it by not getting the proper accessory. Sadly, that means shelling out twice as much as I should, but since it's worked fine when I've charged my KIndle I'm not complaining. For those paranoid about ruining their devices like me, I'd wait until my next paycheck comes to buy it. But for those who are more tech-savvy than I am and are confident they can get by with another kind of adapter than I say don't even waste your time on this product. Only buy this is if you aren't sure about using other adapters.
