I love these blocks and went a little overboard on buying sets when they finally went on sale. These were priced very well at this store and I really like them for my daughters. They even shipped them better than Target, who just put the box in a bag, which was subsequently bashed up by the time it got to my door. This shipper was in a box with padding so the box was still gift-worthy when I received it. The only thing I dislike about the Tegu blocks is that the longer pieces have difficult to find magnetic spots. I'd recommend a smaller set if you have younger children that won't sit still to figure out where they are. I prefer the Tegu blocks over all others I've seen people recommend as alternates because I like wooden toys. They are more durable than plastic ones where the magnets could dislodge when broken.
We love Tegu! We purchased this set (after owning a small set prior) during a special discount before Christmas and couldn't be happier. The blocks themselves are beautifully made and high quality, hence the pricing. My husband and I are always on the hunt for toys that are not only educational, but well-made and can serve multiple purposes or can grow with the child. These are exactly that! These are great for imaginative play, fine motor skills, color recognition, polarity, and best of all they really can be used from age 1-99! My husband and I have a blast helping our 4 year old create new structures. I'm excited to see what she will create on her own as she gets older and hope to add to our collection!
We had already had a 14 block set, but wish we would have bought a larger set from the beginning since the more the merrier! These are a great gift since they are unique and everyone we have gifted these to or recommended them to have loved them.
These are really cool to look at, and at my office they are a hit (yes, I'm using them as an office toy). Coworkers are always building things with them. However, my reason for only 4 stars is that I find them somewhat limited in terms of which blocks will connect with other blocks at desired angles and placements. The magnetic points on some blocks do not work as I might expect, and sometimes there is no magnet where I would want to have one. Still, they are fun, definitely more enjoyable than plain wood blocks.
These are great if you know what you're buying. We just bought this as our second set, and have a different set in the Sunset colorway. They are blocks for older kids or for design conscious parents, not necessarily the best everyday blocks for a toddler. I have an 18 month old and he loves sticking them to the fridge. They also look nicer strewn around my house than a lot of other toys, and they photograph well. However, as just blocks he currently gets frustrated with them because obviously he doesn't understand polarity yet. He gets more use from basic wooden blocks for that aspect right now, although I expect these to grow with him better as they have that added element to keep him interested as he gets too old for regular blocks. My dad actually likes playing with these with him. We have also had an issue with paint starting to chip around the edges. Toddlers are rough, but I would have expected a bit better durability on the finish for the price point. Overall great item in spite of this, especially if you can get them on sale.
At first I wasn't sure what to think about the Tegu set because the magnets are kind of weak, and there are very limited ways that the pieces can connect together to make larger structures. But it turns out our toddler plays with this for hours and he loves it! He rarely makes structures like the ones he usually makes out of lego blocks. Instead, he's usually making some new odd looking car, pushing it around, and then dropping it on the ground so the pieces explode apart, and then building a car with a new arrangement. Here is a photo of my "daddy car special" which has an extreme wheel camber (but it races smoothly!) I recommend buying an extra set of wheels, because in our experience the wheels are what make the Tegu set the most fun.

This is the perfect number of blocks to get as part of the Tegu brand. It has a lot of options to build on plus the wheels are great. My toddler loves these and we have a puppy so far neither has been able to destroy them.
Perfect for our 2 year old, she loves stacking them. Also, she can grow into using them to create more complex structures and designs. Perfect for developing hand eye coordination and imagination. Love the feel and sound of hardwoods over plastic toys. Colors are bright and vibrant. Magnets hold well and allow them to stay together better as a set. Less likely to loose a block because they stick together. Just make sure your dog doesnt eat them 😉 Keep away from pets when using them.
These are so much fun! The magnets are great, though it took a while to get creative about using some of the pieces that aren't magnetized and that have sizes that don't stretch quite far enough.
I bought these for my twin boy girl grandchildren's 2nd birthday. The absolutely love them. They caught on to magnet attract/repel very quickly and are constantly figuring out new things to make. I see more sets in the future.
