I had a small selection to choose from to replace my old 27" oven/microwave combo. Installing this unit required a couple of modifications to the cabinet and after that it was a very simple installation. The interior of the oven and microwave are larger then my old unit which made the modification to the cabinet worth the extra work. Yes, there is a fan that runs during the cooking and cool down process. For me the fan noise is not a major issue. Cost was a $400.00 savings over the local stores. Overall i'm pleased with my purchase.
