TarDisk 128GB | Storage Expansion Card for MacBook Pro 13

Seems to be a good product. Support is friendly and fairly quick. Email them. Ask them for a phone call if needed. They might not be available at the immediate times, but they try to get back to you asap.

A few things to keep in mind:
1. If you have Mac OS High Sierra, you will need a different installation guide than the one that's on the website. Email support and tell them that you need this special guide and they will send it to you (it might be somewhere around their website too).
2. Be sure to follow all steps diligently. They are simple, but be careful to follow everything exactly.
2. You need to have at least 10% of your Mac hard drive space available before installation - so you might need to to temporarily move some files to an external har drive (plan for an external unit and time to transfer).
3. You need to have a TimeMachine (or - likely paid - cloud subscription) backup done. If you have High Sierra this is 100% needed, as in the "pearing" process your ENTIRE Mac will be erased/factory-reset!! Plan for time, budget and possibly hassle regarding this.
4. You can use the TarDisk as an external hard drive/storage if needed. That's very simple and works well. But it doesn't treat the TarDisk as "internal" storage which is obviously more convenient. For pearing, a bit more time and planning commitment is needed.

Overall, good product and extra storage solution for Mac.

Simply put, if you need to expand the storage on your Apple laptop this is the best option. I made the mistake of choosing 128Gb for my Macbook Pro last year, so I was running low on storage in no time. I was looking into buying a 256Gb SSD on eBay to replace the current one, but the pricing was ridiculous and the idea of voiding my warranty to add storage wasn't very appealing. I searched forever for a good solution, and I landed on Tardisk. I am glad that I did. I decided to go with the 128Gb model to double the storage in my laptop.

The quality of the hardware seems high; the product seems like it is built to last forever. The instructions were clear and the installation process was straightforward and quick (less than 15 minutes). Because of how the product's software works (it basically uses the Tardisk and the laptop's SSD to create a single Logical volume just like Apple's fusion drive), real world performance and benchmark numbers are pretty much identical to the SSD alone. This is because it keeps your system files as well as commonly used Apps and files on the faster SSD, while infrequently used files are moved to the slower Tardisk storage. So while the read and write speeds of the Tardisk itself may be low when benchmarked, when combined with your SSD, the difference is practically imperceivable to the user, and performance will be the same 99% of the time. All you really see is the expanded storage! Just make sure you are ordering the model that includes the Pear software.

The only real trade off is that the SD card reader becomes unusable, but this probably isn't an issue for most people. If it is, a $10 card reader will do the trick.

I have been more than impressed with the Tardisk and Pear software, and I recommend it highly. The price might seem a little bit steep for the amount of storage you get, but the seamless experience that Pear provides is well worth the investment.

I struggled to complete the initial installation. I thoroughly outlined all the steps I took. Within 2 days I received a reply and a ticket was created. I worked with Luiz Carlos and Wellington Sartori to fix my issue and they gave perfect instructions and called me during a time that fit my schedule. I am very happy with my purchase, and after their help, the installation worked perfectly.

Had a little bit of issues getting it to sync but as soon as I emptied some space on the original HD, no problem with the install. Easy instructions and HD now is double the original. Another option if you don't want to replace your original HD.

Excellent product!
