The Ring Alarm system is the best all around alarm system for the price! At only $100/year for 24/7 professional monitoring, this system easily beats out the competition! Out of the box, setup was extremely easy, you don’t even need a manual, just follow the directions on the app and you will be up and running in no time. Ring promises to offer more features in the future such as home automation and the ability to talk to your other smart home devices, but as of right now, there are a lot of desirable features that are not currently available.
Overall, the Ring Alarm works great, design is sleek and installation was a breeze. I actually installed 2 systems, one at my house and one at my office. I love that I can manage both locations on the app as well as add authorized users to each location separately.
Pros:
* Easy installation and quick setup
* $10/month or $100/year for 24/7 professional monitoring
* Base station is packed with bluetooth, wifi, RJ45 port, z-wave plus, AT&T cell backup, back up battery
* Keypad has a backup battery that is suppose to last up to 6 months on a single charge
* App offers a lot of customization, chirp options, volume control, push notification, easy to use
* Base station emits different color lights - (Disarmed Red Ring), (Home/Away - Blue Ring)
* Starter kit includes a Z-Wave range extender
* Add multiple users
* Additional add-on sensors are affordable
* Keypad will announce Away, Disarmed, Home modes
Cons:
* Keypad doesn’t chirp when doors or sensors are triggered, only the base station
* Door/window sensors are a little too big in my opinion
* If you wall mount the base station and want to use a cat5 connection, there’s not a cutout to drop the wire down, only for the power cable
* You always have to enter your 4-digit passcode before activating any modes
* With Home mode active, the door sensors has a minimum 30-second delay when triggered
* Can’t add guest passcode, guest user must create a Ring account
* No home automation or 3rd party integration as of yet
I bought the whole ring alarm setup with a bunch of extra door sensors and motion sensors...I wanted to monitor my garage with a motion sensor.I also put a keypad in the garage door..I ended up using a door contact sensor on the garage door cause it takes to long to reset like all zwave motion sensors....I am sure they will fix the issue but overall i like it
There are many in-depth reviews, so let me just say I'm very happy with my Ring alarm (and two flood-light cams). Installation was a breeze, even fun. I've had it for over a month. I was away for ten days and was able to put the app to a real test. Everything worked perfectly. Let me also add that I switched from another company that I was with for six years - a system that was state-of-the-art when I installed it. I like my Ring system better and I appreciate that Ring will be adding new features as time goes on.
After doing a bunch of research on alarm systems I chose Ring, and I'm glad I did! And here's why. While the alarm system is still very new it has so many ways that it can expand, It has multiple ways to communicate with other smart home devices. Z-wave, Wifi, cellular and I believe Bluetooth. I would imagine it's just a matter of time where Ring will be able to lock all your smart door locks once the system is armed, Or if the smoke alarm goes off unlock all those doors. Another comforting thing for me is the company has been around for a while with its ring doorbells. we have all seen the "Alexa show me the front door" Commercials right? What you might not know is Ring has been purchased by Amazon and is ramping up its product line. ok back to the alarm! I love the instant alerts I get on my phone! I'm talking as soon as the alarm is tripped, armed, or disarmed 'I'm notified within a second at most three. The System uses Z-wave technology to communicate with all its sensors and even comes with a repeater. though I doubt most will even need it. There are only a few things about this alarm that I Don't care for and one of my issues has already been addressed, and Ring is Already coming out with a solution! Ok, The First thing I don't care for is the door chime only sounds from the Ring base and not the keypad. if you have a large home and the base is set up on one side of the house or in a closed room you might not be able to here when a door is opened. The keypad says things like "Home and armed" does its typical countdown beep when you come home to let you know the system is armed u need to disarm it. Another issue I had with the alarm is the actual siren, It's built into the base station and in a large home it sounds a little louder then a smoke detector, they are releasing an additional siren that I plan on adding onto the system once it's available the keypads also sound their own sirens, But I want the neighbors down the block to hear it! ha ha.
For what these are, they are overpriced. Comparable hardware is half the price or less. You’re really paying for the Ring brand, the ecosystem, ease of setup, and great user experience and not having to mess around with a buggy experience (or, even worse, having to deal with an ogre like ADT and their network of sheisters).

Description
Expand your Ring alarm and add an extra layer of security to your home with alarm motion detectors. Simply place your motion detector in a corner of any room of your home, connect it to your Ring alarm base station, and you’re ready to go! Once your Ring alarm system is armed, you’ll get instant alerts on your phone and tablet whenever motion is detected.
These sensors work great but if you have medium sized dogs they may constantly set off the alarm. Definitely use your trial period to test this so you don’t get false alarms. We have 2 medium sized (50 lbs each) Dogs. We tested the sensors while we were home and an individual dog running by would not set them off. Great. But one or two dogs jumping at the door if someone came to the porch set the sensors off constantly. So then you need to weigh the value of your ferocious dogs jumping at doors with the need for the motion sensors. The only way to get them not to register is to lock them in another room when the alarm is activated which then takes away the deterant of the dogs. You can also just turn the sensors completely off and only use them if the dogs go with the family.
But the sensors clearly work. Just you might need to change things if you have larger dogs.
We felt we needed additional motions sensors within our home so we picked up this 2 pack and saved money in the process. Can't say enough about Ring... extremely easy to setup, use and a great value from Amazon! Highly recommended!
One of them that I had I bought a kit and bought the extra one was acting up a little bit I just took the battery out and then there's a little blue button on the inside I push that reset my alarm system and they work great I don't know about keeping them on high sensitive cuz they trip I would set him if you're going to use them in the house I'd set it to you the low sensitivity otherwise you'll get a numerous amount of alerts to your phone. The one in my garage I have set to medium sensitivity and it seems to be working just fine really good system I did a lot of evaluation between rain and the hello nest and well I do have the hello Nest I like that better than the ring doorbell but as far as the security system I think the Nest security system is way overpriced for what you get I would definitely go with the ring easy to install easy to set up I did have a problem with one sensor it wouldn't set up but I did send it back and I got another one and they all work
By mistake I did a contract with ADT, they installed everything it was good but I was expecting around 37 dollars per month and no option to monitor my home by myself. When first bill of $67 came they try to keep me by the force under a ridiculous contract. So, I asked to return everything , thanks to the lord they did not had a copy of my contract and i returned everything.
Then I did a extensive review of ring, what did not call my attention at the very beginning, and I found it interesting.
I bought everything from amazon with guarantee return just in case.
To be honest,
This system works like a charm.
Never fail, the backup radio link never fails. Awesome...
Me as owner I can create users, add devices by myself, configure it. In ADT i was totally frustrate be caused i am a DIYr.
Most of the negative reviews that I've read are due wrong installation.
So,Best luck and enjoy it.
I am electronic engineer and I am know what I'm talking about.
Full caveat, we have no pets.
The motion detector is a great compliment to the Ring alarm system. We use many of these throughout our home as a backup to the contact sensors and as a way to blanket cover our house with alarm detection. The level of sensitivity is just right for us, it doesn't set of our Roomba but detects people (and kids) perfectly.
Pro tip: You do NOT need to mount this to your wall! Stick it on a table, shelf, cabinet, etc. without mounting and to give you the ultimate flexibility in placement. Also, you won't need to worry about making repairs when moving out of your place!
Friends with larger pets say they will set off the motion detection. If you have a larger pet, the motion detector unfortunately wouldn't work for you.
