Ok, so either other reviewers magically figured out the best way to run this as soon as they took it out of the box, or I'm not doing it right. It IS indeed a good value, because it washes the clothes, and as others have said the spin function is very effective.
Here are my observations.
1. You put the clothes in one side (the most I've washed - admittedly only 3 loads so far - is 2 pairs of light jeans and a couple shirts, seems like a good size load for it). So you put the clothes in the wash side, and then put the water in.
a. That's right - get the water in there somehow. How, you ask? Well, you fill a big cup 18 times, or you use a bucket, or you happen to have a faucet from 1968 that fits the teeny little plastic tube they give you. OR, like me, you stick the whole blasted thing in the shower (I only have a stand-up shower, and no detachable showerhead), and just direct the water into the tub. Sloppy, but it works.
b. Put some detergent in.
c. DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH DETERGENT.
d. If you put too much detergent (like, more than a ¼ cup), you will be in serious trouble.
e. Ok, so fill it with water, turn the timer on, and away it goes. It makes a bit of noise during the washing part, but whatever.
2. MAKE SURE THE MIDDLE DIAL IS TURNED TO STANDARD OR SOFT, NOT DRAIN
a. If the middle dial is turned to drain unexpectedly, you will be in serious trouble.
3. So your first load is done, great! Except it's only like, 20% done, once the first cycle winds down.
4. NOW set the middle dial to drain.
5. MAKE SURE THE DRAIN HOSE IS DIRECTED INTO THE TUB – AND IS DRAINING BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE MACHINE!
a. If your drain hose is pointed somewhere else, you will be in serious trouble.
b. And yes, it basically will not drain or will only half drain if it’s not laying on the actual bottom of the shower, so you can’t set it somewhere where the hose has to curve over something to reach the drain, and hope water pressure will do the rest. It won’t.
6. Ideally, take the clothes out of the left side drum, and put them in the right side.
a. The right side is maybe half the size of the left. If you overfill, you won't be able to get everything in there.
7. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE LITTLE SPIN GUARD ON TOP OF THE CLOTHES BEFORE SPINNING.
a. If you don’t put the spin guard, you will be in serious trouble. (I ended up with a pair of underwear underneath the drum and had to employ judicious use of a really big knitting needle to get them out.)
8. Now, you want to make sure the hose is still in its proper drainage position. Turn the timer on for the spin (it says something about adding water in here, I think as an extra rinsing mechanism? Whatever, the spin works well, so I added a little water).
9. This part is really loud for a second and then settles down to a nice whir. Go have a snack.
10. Ten minutes later, you come back, and hopefully there is not water all over your bathroom floor, or underwear under the spin drum.
11. Take the clothes out of the spinner….and put them back in the other side.
12. WASH THEM AGAIN. This time without detergent.
a. No, I am not kidding.
b. Now wash them one more time.
c. Now spin them again.
13. And now, finally, you have a set of clean clothes (possibly with 20% of the detergent still in them, but whatever. Still clean.).
14. Please let me warn you, DO NOT WASH NEW TOWELS IN THIS MACHINE.
a. If you wash new towels in this machine, you will be in serious trouble. There will be lint in places that you didn’t know existed. You will never be free of it. Your laundry loads ten years down the road will talk about it. “Remember that time they washed a new towel in this machine” <chorus of gasps> “NO!” “Yep…I was THERE.”
TLDR (as if all that wasn’t completely necessary) – it’s a L O T of work, but it does WORK, and I think with a good system, place to put it, etc, it will work out fine. Mostly. I hope.
Update: I was right - with a good system and practice it gets much easier! Still a bit of an adventure but not nearly as time consuming :)
The most impressive thing is the spinner -- even at a 3 minute spin, tee shirts were coming out so dry I could have worn them in a pinch, and draped over the shower bar they were dry in an hour.
The instructions are practically nonexistent -- I wondered at first if the "soft" setting was for fabric softener; it's actually the "gentle" cycle. No idea how durable it is, but at 70 bucks, I don't care if I have to replace it annually. It's awesome.
I absolutely love it!!! I wrote up my own instructions.
Small and powerful! Does the job above and beyond expectations!!!! Great price too!! I Love how it doesn't use large amounts of water either.
The spinner does get rid of the water extremely well but it does leave the clothes very wrinkled.
Not complaining. I just have to figure out how I want to deal with extremely clean but wrinkled clothes besides ironing (NOPE), steaming each piece (double NOPE).
I am fussy about laundry and particular about water temp, sorting etc. I will be spending long periods of time traveling in my RV for which I bought it. It would cost me a fortune doing my clothes at laundromats.
I use app. 6 gallons per load. (Laundry for 1 person).
This is what I do:
Add app. 3 gallons of water in washer.
Add laundry detergent.
Agitate for a few seconds.
Load clothing.
Agitate for a minute then turn off and let clothes soak for app. 10 min.
Start wash cycle for however many minutes you prefer.
Drain (super easy)
Then add 3 gallons of water for rinse cycle. I usually run it for about 3 minutes.
Take half the clothes. Put in spinner. 3 minutes suffices for me. Maybe longer with jeans.
Then spin the rest of the clothes.
Remember to turn the nozzle on DRAIN and also turn drain nozzle to STANDARD setting when finished, otherwise water just drains out when you want to do another load:-)
I put a small rubber mat under it and it keeps it well in place.
It's tiny and reminds me of a little play set. VERY CUTE!

Instruction
Very Light Weight and Portable, I carry it to Remote Locations, HOWEVER after 5 loads the Spinner Quit, BUT a Simple Fix. Removed back Panel and Tightened Spinner Motor Shaft to Spinner Basket Shaft COUPLER. With back Off and a Long Phlips Screw Driver tightened Loose Upper Screw and Tightened Screw 12mm Lock Nut. Also Check Lower Screw and 10mm Lock Nut. Once Tighten the Spinner WORKS Great! This seems to be a common Complaint in the Reviews. But for $79 Bucks I took a chance. Glad I did, Love It.
This works very well. It held more clothes than I thought it would. It was surprisingly quiet. It DOES move when spinning - so make sure you place it where it can't "walk". Easy to use. Great value for the price. Highly recommend.
Really glad I bought this. Came assembled and is very light weight. I placed mine in bath tub on tub mat and use outdoor waterproof extension cord, keeping all parts of cord a safe distance away from the water. You don’t have to do it this way but it works great for me. (Watch other purchasers video - SO HELPFUL) Washes small loads well. Spinner wicks water from fabric so well the clothes are almost dried. I recommend to anyone, who lives in small apts, who wants to save money avoiding laundromat fees and using less soap, and who needs quick laundry convenience, to buy this. (IF you get a flawed one like one of the purchasers did, just get it replaced.) SO WORTH IT AND GLAD I BOUGHT IT!
- best for small households with 1-2 people
- if you can fit it in a 5 gallon bucket you can fit it in the kuppet
- spin can be loud and vibrate-y, might annoy neighbors unless precautions are taken
- can vibrate itself across a floor or off a counter, best to watch it wash
- if heavy or overfilled, clothes will twist around themselves
- wash towels and sheets one at a time for best results
- reuse soapy water more than once if clothes aren’t heavily soiled
- soapy water must be drained and fresh water put in for rinse cycle
- go easy on the soap for better rinsing
- very effective and powerful clean if used thoughtfully!
My 12 year old loves using it and is in charge of the washing every day. This is an A+ machine
