After three months of multiple times a wee use I have been pleasantly surprised by this countertop dishwasher. If you keep your expectations reasonable you will be very happy with it.
Like other reviewers have stated, all of the countertop dishwashers on Amazon all come from the same factory and have the same innards, shop on price and looks. In my case, having a rental house away from home for a one year appointment, looks didn’t really matter. The Danby plain white one with push button controls is perfect.
No, this won’t wash your stock pot or large sauce pan (maybe the sauce pan and some utinsels by themselves). However, for the day to day 90%? It’s great. It will wash all of your utensils, plates (even big oversized American dinner plates), mugs bowls and glassware.
Simply replace the nozzle on your sink faucet and clip on the hose when you want to use it.
This does take a good amount of counter top space, but fits underneath cabinets. In my 1950s era rental with original cabinets it clears them with a few centimeters to spare in height, and a few centimeters front to back. If you put a large toaster oven and a drip brew coffee maker side by side it would take up similar horizontal space.
The inside is stainless steel with plastic coated metal wire trays that seem very high quality.
Cleaning quality is on par with $4-500 price range standard dishwashers. Yes, it’s probably best if you rinse your dishes thouroughly first. I haven’t tried the jet dry feature. When the cycle is over I pop the door and let the water evaporate.
It isn’t very noisy, but you will notice it unless your kitchen is blocked off from the rest of your dwelling. Mostly you can hear when the water is draining as it is coming out at high pressure.
If you have a small apartment or a rental house with no dishwasher, this thing pays for its self in convenience and time saved (really, 8-10 days worth of chinese takeaway meals will cover the cost). When it’s time to move? Ask the property owner to take off $250 from your last month rent and leave it with them.
This model is much better than the DDW497 I replaced. The DDW621 is *far* quieter and cleans items in the dishwasher noticeably better.
There is one negative point. The left side has a pair of adjustable/removable shelves. In the DDW497, the comparable shelf was just low enough to allow a second set of cups to be on that shelf (four cups/tall glasses on the lower rack and four 9-oz coffee cups on the upper shelf). The two shelves in the DDW621 are set too high to permit this. They will not allow the same 9-oz cups (Correlle) to be on those shelves because they hit the top of the front opening when you try to roll it into the dishwasher. If you move the racks down, then there is no room for the same-sized cups under those shelves. I checked other coffee cups (8-9 oz capacity, not just Correlle), and they all experienced the same problem. This is a design flaw in the rack, not in the dishwasher. I was able to fit a small (20-oz) casserole onto the top shelf, with its lid on the other top shelf.
I mostly use Correlleware, and I have been using it for some time (30+yrs). The largest plates (12") will NOT fit. All the other stuff will fit with few problems.
Biggest gripe is that it is difficult to hook up some faucets and there is only one adapter.
The washer is fairly decent - as long as you have your dishes well rinsed. I honestly mostly use mine to sanitize.
Dishes are very wet by the end of the cycle - but I live in a very wet climate.
Better than not having a dishwasher.
I bought this dishwasher to make my share of the chores a little easier and it works perfectly in that respect. It fits nicely right on the counter in our little kitchen and connects intuitively to the sink without any issues. The instructions and user manual are very easy to understand, and it even breaks down the water and energy usuages for each of the cycles.
I have used it a couple of times to play catch up and thoroughly clean those items that hand-washing didn't meet my expectations and it has far exceeded them. It is quiet and seems to be efficient. I'd recommend this highly for anyone in a similar situation as I am; wanting to lighten the load of hand-washing dishes with limited space.
We love this dishwasher. It is our first portable dishwasher, and we've used it heavily for the 4 months we've owned it. It cleans like a champ. We can even stack plates pretty close together and it cleans them well. We will often end up running it one or two times a day to get through all the dishes we use. It saves us a ton of time and work at home.
It is...as you might notice...small. It's a bit like playing Tetris to see how many dishes you can fit in there (as is the case with all dishwashers). Bigger items like pots and pans we still do by hand. Also, our big dinner plates will not fit in this machine straight up and down. For the most part, we just use the smaller plates we have.
We usually just run it on the "normal" mode, which takes about 75-90min I think. It feels a bit long. There are faster modes to be used, but we haven't experimented with those, for fear that they won't clean as well. We use little detergent pods from Costco, and Jet Dry rinse agent, and it does a good job.
Overall, we have no buyers remorse for getting this. It's been a great buy.

Moved into a new place with a small sink and no dishwasher, had an agreement with the wife that if she did the laundry, i'd hand wash all the dishes. I bought this the next day and she called me a cheater. It's very easy to use, setup is simple, it's quiet, very efficient, and holds a bit more than I expected. I absolutely love this dishwasher, although it's a bit of an eyesore on the counter, and is about two inches too wide to fit underneath the sink. If you are looking for a quality dishwasher for an inexpensive price, look no further.
This is the first countertop dishwasher I have seen. What a great idea. It fits perfectly on my counter taking up no more room than the draining board it replaced.
And does it ever clean! On the light wash setting my dishes and glasses came out spotless. It used very little water compared to hand washing and it is very, very quiet. I had to really listen to see if it was running.
The size is perfect for small households of 1-3 people. It is as easy as sitting it on your counter and plugging it in. The adapter for the sink faucet is included and it's adaptable to fit male or female threads. Two minuets and your ready to wash a pile of dishes.
Now the only thing I found I didn't like were the little shelves that were meant for coffee cups. I use mugs. No, they don't fit and they are in the way. But hey, they are removable! And that's what I did.
Bottom line, it's an amazing find and half the price of the bulky roll around.
I would say jump on this deal. I've had much larger dishwashers that didn't clean any better than this one.
So far so good. Had it about a week and have done several loads of dishes. Multiple settings for differnt types of dishes. Easy to hook up. I tuck away the hoses when I'm not using it. Really should have bought this thing years ago.
Did 2 loads of dishes so far. This thing is AMAZING I used the mid grade of the cascade packs and I do believe what dish detergent you use matters. I had a bowl with melted chocolate in it from 2 days ago (no judging lol) that bowl is SPOTLESS I'm super impressed. Extremely quiet. It leaks a little at the faucet I've tightened everything best I can it's tiny drip doesn't seem to be causing any issues though. I have depression some days I wanna wash every dish in the house by hand some days it takes all I have just to take a shower. Some people made fun of me for this purchase but this will be a life saving game changer for me
I moved into a small apartment with no dishwasher and was getting tired of hand washing (I've never not had one). So I bought this since the price was reasonable and reviews were good. I bought a little kitchen cart with a wood top so I can roll it up to the sink and not have it take up all my counter space. It does what I expected and I especially like the delayed start so it finishes by the time I get home from work. It's fairly quiet and I can start it at bedtime and sleep through it.
