Please, before listening to the reviewers with 1 star be aware that they are having first world problems or are technologically challenged. The kindles are GREAT for children. If you are buying just for ONE specific app you need to check and make sure it is useable before purchasing (common sense). If the things you want are not available...the kindle may not be the right purchase for you! I think some of the “educational” items are questionable but it is easily adjusted by just blocking content you don’t want them to access. In example, I blocked everything spongebob related from my children. It seems most of these reviewers just didn’t know how to use the different settings in the right way to get the results they wanted. All of my children, nieces and nephews have these kindles, they use them an hour or less a day and have goals set. They can do a lot while off WiFi as well so we like to take them on longer car rides. I have kids aged 2-9 and can honestly say I feel that it is very exact for what kids those ages prefer. The greatest thing about these tablets is that when they grow out of the kiddie stuff they can still use these as regular tablets. Before you just throw one of these to your child thinking everything is ready to go, spend some time to go through the settings and content. Look at it and see if there is anything you need to adjust. This way you won’t be surprised if your 2 year old is watching shows more appropriate for 12 year olds. I was able to go onto amazon and add content (apps) that we wanted onto each of their profiles (in example, JellyTelly and ABC Mouse). The ONLY con I have for these: it seems when they have been updated some of the other kiddos profiles show up on the other kids kindles again after being hidden, BUT it’s easy to either hide them again from lock screen or just set a passcode for each child’s profile (we did this to ensure everyone stays on their own profiles)
This Prime Day price is incredible...not only for the tablets and cases themselves, but then you get the included benefits of a free YEAR of FreeTime Unlimited and the 2 year warranty on each product, which is a huge value. If you've been wanting a couple of these for your kids, don't hesitate. (Also, to clarify, the previous 1 star review is incorrect. You can't play certain apps in the FreeTime program offline, but there are many, many choices for apps and books that, once downloaded to your kindle, CAN be played offline. Also, if you really dislike yellow...buy a different case. You'll STILL be getting a fantastic value here!)
First of all I have to brag. I got this product for my three year old twins during prime day. I spent 149!!! The set up was easy and I love how everything they love was right there immediately. I didn't have to jump through loops and download a bunch of apps and get all frustrated. This is an amazing and easy to use product. Lightweight yet durable. These tablets beat their old Nabi tablets 100 percent. Quick to charge. Doesn't take a half damn day. It's awesome.
Bought the blue-pink pair during Prime Day 2017. Kids love it. FreeTime is awesome - curated set appropriate for kids. Have also set up time limits for how long they can watch. The transition from Ipad for them has gone smoother than I expected. I can finally get my Ipad back for myself!
We bought this for our son who's three and a nonverbal autistic. He has thrown this down from his highchair, tossed it over his 4ft enclosure, thrown it across the room, and bitten and slobbered all over it. It still works perfectly like the first day it arrived, albeit it's now usually covered with some food or film on the screen. If you want to make sure it lasts, get the screen protector, the kid case, the Kid Time subscription (after the first free year it's only $2.99/mo), a micro SD card (8gb or higher), and the two-year warranty. You probably won't need the warranty though Amazon will replace it if anything happens to it. I plan on buying my grandson one very soon. I recommend these tablets to anyone. They're really easy to set up and use. I bought a Fire tablet for myself, had it for a year now too, no kid case though, just a regular one. The app store has almost all the same apps Android does but there are a few differences but if you just want to listen to music, watch YouTube videos or Prime shows and movies, listen to audiobooks or read e-books, take pictures or videos, play the same games you play on Facebook, or you just want to surf the web, then this tablet is perfect for that.

Looking at buying 3 for my kiddos at closer to full price at $130 each. Why buy 3 for $390 when I can buy 4 for $300?! We're a Samsung family, but this deal is too good to pass up. Bought 3 18 monthes ago. My 3 grandsons love them. I have lately been having charging issues. It was easily solved by replacing the charging cables. Highly recommend them.
