I bought this to use at work, considering the only other french press I have is a 32oz Bodum which just seems a little excessive for personal use at work.
First off this is a great french press if you like your coffee black or sweetened. Not great if you need to add cream and not great if you're looking for a french press to bring on a car trip. Personally I don't put cream in my coffee so that's not a concern. The complaints that you can't put sugar in it after it's brewed, just put it in with the grounds. No big deal.
It would be nice if the second lid (the one that makes it spill proof) had some way to allow you to drink from it but hey it's the first run of the product. I wouldn't be surprised that if they're successful enough and can maintain the company, they'll release an updated version from the feedback of their customers.
My only gripe, which is minor is that I'd like it to be a little larger to meet a more standard size (closer to 16 oz or so, preferably a little larger to accommodate for the added volume taken by the grounds).
Otherwise it definitely keeps the coffee good and hot, it is easy to drink from (when not in motion or when not needing to constantly place and removing the second lid), and makes a damn fine cup of coffee that is very well filtered.
I first had a cup of delicious coffee with this filtration while at a friends house last weekend. She has 7 different types of coffee making machines in her home ranging from $100-$3000. She is very versed and made me a cup with most of them. I was looking for the thickness of an espresso shot, but as a cup of coffee, not a shot. The body of the cup is really important to me. I'd rather not have coffee at all than to drink gross thin coffee. I'll admit, the overall experience of food and beverage holds a lot of weight with me.
I can't have creamer, so I use coconut cream instead, and I can't have sugar, don't use Neem honey. What I can't stand about French pressed coffee is the sludge. Yuck. Besides, after the first couple sips, what was once the "body" I enjoy, settles at the bottom into the sludge. Gross.
Not with this! You will enjoy a stable consistency throughout your entire cup. Love it!
Why I bought this and recommend you do too: sometimes I just want one cup, and I only need one, if it's good and strong and delightful! This affords me the best of many worlds. I got a wonderful pricing point with the ability to pack it around and make a cup wherever I want! Finally I can have an amazing cup, any where I want! I can store grounds in the container and leave the house to meet a friend, and just add water when I get there! Think about it... Even a gas station has hot water you can use... It's a win at $35.
Sure, I'd love to have the 32 ounce, but there's no need and it's not as mobile as this. The friend who introduced me to this, bought hers from an actual roasting plant. She works at Starbucks and we both agreed this was the best cup far beyond the verismo AND the Starbucks stainless steel fresh press.
For $35, I got everything I wanted and don't mind having to make each cup separately. If I find that I need the bigger, I'd happily buy the 32 ounce and not blink twice. This is still something phenomenal to have in my kitchen.
I didn't want something that took up a lot of space, this is compact and takes up no space, and clean up is simple!
Unlike most coffee makers or presses, there is more oil expressed, so it's not a simple rinse, but that's ok, because you just had a cup of joe you can't even get anywhere else... Don't have to wait in any lines and saving myself a TON of money!!!
I am a Starbucks gold member till 2024 due to the points I've accumulated in the past year on coffee. That's a crap ton of money they got from me and so this is a steal.
There is no compromise here. I'd rather have a cup from this little gadget ANYDAY over any cup ANY Barista has ever served me.
Just get it. You can thank me in YOUR review :)
I did a video for it, but wasn't able to upload it :/ so I included pics. The packaging also is great for gift giving.
Press arrived with dent in bottom edge ( probably due to poor packaging), so I will return it. However, I did think it was worth running a few brews through it, to make sure I wanted to buy a replacement that (hopefully) will arrive undamaged. Press works as advertised, makes excellent coffee. I like mine strong, so I used a generous amount of dark roast beans, set grind to finest setting recommended for use in pourover, bloomed it for about a minute, added water to coffee line, and let it steep for five minutes before pressing. Produced an excellent brew. Clean-up was a bit tedious. The puck at the bottom of the tumbler has to be scraped out with a long tool (I used the handle of a wooden spoon), and then the tumbler has to be rinsed thoroughly, and the filter has to be pressed through the tumbler two or three times with clean hot water to get the filter clean. Storage is tricky, because unless you are on the road, the filter should not be stored inside the tumbler (it will start to shrink and eventually lose its tight seal). But I have room for these items in my kitchen and don't mind that the pieces are stored unassembled. I will order a replacement for the damaged press they sent me, and if they send an undamaged item, I probably will order a second one later.
This is the best French press of all time. I have two for myself and have bought others as gifts. It doesn’t leak so I can confidently throw it inside a designer purse. My coffee stays hot for an incredibly long amount of time. There’s nothing worse to me than tepid or cold coffee. Also, the filter is great. I don’t know how they make such a high-quality travel mug that doesn’t give me a mouth full of grinds especially as I’m getting to the end of my cup
I really like this but I wish it was a little bigger and I wish the lid wasn't made out of plastic.. I had mine fall down a ladder and the lid broke(but espro sent me a new one free of charge and I've been more careful with it since. Still works great after a few years of service). I still bring it on my back packing trips for coffee since it brews and I can drink directly from it(dual purpose saves space and weight).

Description
The smell of freshly ground beans. The rising steam. The rich flavor of those first sips. A truly great cup of coffee has the power to transport and inspire. Yet when on the go, we often settle for a convenient cup that falls short, a harried hustle out the door, a crowded commute, a day of back to back meetings, chasing after the kids. At Espro, we love great coffee. So when we could not find a perfect travel brewer for coffee, we invented one that delivers! It’s Easy. Pour coffee grounds in mug, then add hot water. Stir. Wait 4 minutes. Press and Enjoy.
It looks like your seemingly average everyday coffee travel mug but you'll quickly realize that not all coffee travel mugs are created equal, especially this travel press. I've had mine fore a year and it works as good as the first time. Brew it, plunge it, screw it, forget about it for hours if you want to, it won't over-brew. Hot coffee when you want it. Perfect for hectic lifestyles, on the go types, and people have more frequent flyer miles than they know what to do with. I bought this mug for 5 people as gifts and they are all rejoicing back to me. Don't think on it another second. If you're busy and passionate about good coffee, this is what you want.
I do not often write product reviews; however this travel Coffee Press deserves one.
As a "good coffee" addict, I often struggle when travelling to find decent coffee--and that is especially the case when abroad and/or staying in a hotel or an air BnB. My wife and I recently traveled abroad to the middle east and all we needed were these presses, some bottled water, and some decent coffee grounds and we had A+ coffee.
The product is very well designed, easy to clean, travels well and without fear of breakage. It is also easy to use (just like a regular coffee press) and you can either drink from it or pour the coffee into a mug or cup if there are any decent ones around.
I highly recommend this product if you love good coffee press coffee and hate the poor coffee often found on the road.
I tried other option first because the 10oz capacity sound dismal at best. Ended up trying this because nothing else quite cut it. I was incredibly surprised at how clean and bright brewed coffee was in this thing. Most presses are dull and lifeless. The Espro is't exactly a V60, but it's a really darn good cup. The 10oz doesn't seem too small since this keeps coffee HOT for a long time. I'll be trying the optional paper filters to see how if it cleans up even more.
If you've been looking around for a good travel coffee solution - this is it.
First off, let's get the latest issue out of the way. I purchased this item at retail from Amazon and have not been compensated, reimbursed or credited in any way. Now on to the review. I purchased this item as a portable coffee maker for camping. With that use in mind, here are some of the points I liked about this coffee maker.
1. It worked as advertised. Using this item to make French Press coffee was a snap. The double filter reliably screened out grounds, as long as you followed recommendations about how much water to use.(High water marks are stamped in the stainless steel interior and are easy to see and use).
2. The stainless steel vacuum bottle portion of the coffee maker allowed the beverage to remain hot for multiple hours. I had hot coffee through the course of the day.
3. The lid was easy to drink through.
4. The build quality seems to be very good. I haven't had any issues with any of the plastic or rubber items not functioning as they are intended.
There were a couple of items that I found a bit frustrating though. They were:
1. Having to have a separate lid you had to find, keep handy and screw on if you wanted this item to seal and not leak if it was tipped over. Not a deal breaker, but an extra step and an extra piece to keep around if you wanted to throw this coffee maker into a bag and have leaks not happen.
2. Due to the double seal, cleanup was a bit more involved that what you would see in a standard French Press pot.
Overall, this item was a gem for what I wanted it for. Hot, flavorful French Press coffee to sip on while camping, and no cold coffee!
It's a very secure item (sometimes too secure so don't tighten too much!). I use it every day and love how my coffee tastes. The filter isn't perfect. If a products filter is too great, it's hard to utilize. If it's too loose, grinds would enter the drink. This is actually very close to perfection. My grinds are espresso/fine grind, so it does enter the drink, but I can accept that. The previous product that I used was too loose, allowing more grinds to enter. Also, the previous product was not as secure, leading to much leakage onto my unwanted desk/bag. I would definitely recommend this product to coffee lovers!
