I've had this wine fridge for 10 months now and have been very happy with it. It's installed in the butlers pantry and looks gorgeous. Many of the complaints of this fridge is the compressor noise but that is VERY SUBJECTIVE so I grabbed my dBA meter and took some measurements...see pics!
Kitchen area baseline with no appliances on hovers around 22-23 dBA... my house is VERY quiet!
My brand new LG Kitchen refrigerator with compressor ON:
From <1' = 51.6 dBA (very quiet relatively speaking)
From 3.5"= 23.4 dBA (barely louder than my quiet room)
EdgeStar Dual Zone French Door Wine Fridge with compressor ON:
From <1' = 62.0 dBA (NORMAL refrigerator noise as measure up against unit)
From 4' = 30.1.dBA (quiet relatively speaking)
From 8' = 28.4 dBA (HERE IS THE BOTTOM LINE... can I hear the wine fridge from a dead silent room?... absolutely. Is it noisy?... I don't think so. Its quite the classic refrigerator noise level. I think as modern appliances get quieter, peoples standards just keep changing and getting more critical. Maybe since my unit is 'built-in', it may be quieter than those that are not...
Again, I'm a happy customer after 10 months of use and at this price point, its hard to beat. As a comparison, the matching Kitchen Aid wine unit (had I gone that route when we built the house) would have been 2.5X the cost of this EdgeStar unit and would have been a single zone, single door unit.
Hope this helps in any decisions you may be making.
We've had the cooler for over 4 years (purchased in 2014) and it continues to operate flawlessly. It was purchased to replace a built-in GE Monogram cooler that died. As other reviewers have noted, it doesn't hold the temperature to within a degree or two, but it's temperature control is more than adequate for storing/chilling our wine. We haven't had any issues with noisy operation. It also looks great and fits very well with the rest of our stainless steel appliances. I particularly like the ability set different temperatures for each side of the cooler. We are planning to move and will purchase another one for the new home.
So far so good with this wine cooler. Appearance and operation are great. We were concerned that it would be too noisy, but it is not bad at all. We originally hoped to spend less for a wine cooler, but after doing the research we chose this one in hopes of avoiding the issues that seem to plague the less expensive models. I'm glad we did.
Fit perfectly into my old dish washer slot under the counter. Looks beautiful when lights are on. Keeps wines and drinks very cool. It fits a lot! Love the dual zone option and for having that, it was very well priced. My only slight complaint is that the temperatures don't lock and it's very sensitive to touch. Sometimes my clothes will rub on it and it will change the temperature.
It looks great and is a great way to store wine. Fits perfectly.
It created more space in my refrigerator and cabinet where I used to store my wine.

Description
The EdgeStar 36 Bottle Built-In Dual Zone French Door Wine Cooler (CWR361FD) is like having two completely separate wine coolers rolled into one. The unit features two (2) sides that are virtually independent of one another as each has its own electronically-controlled thermostat, stainless steel trim door, racking system, LED display, carbon filter, and internal fan. However, they do share the same cabinet which in turn saves you space, and keeps all of your favorite wines together in one convenient place. This wine refrigerator can simultaneously store red and white wines since each cooling zone can be adjusted to different temperatures in a range from 40-65° F. Unless making changes to the temperature, the current temperature for each zone will always be shown on its designated blue LED display to give you peace of mind. The wine cooler's highly consistent and effective cooling is supplied by the use of a quiet compressor-based system. The unit exhausts through the vent located on the front of the unit enabling the cooler to be installed without a need for extra room around the cabinet. This makes this unit ideal for under-counter applications and installs where you need a snug fit that's flush with your existing cabinetry to achieve a professional appearance everyone will admire. Additionally, there's a fan within each cooling zone that disperses the air evenly throughout no matter what your desired temperature may be. The entire cooler can hold up to 36 bottles -18 per side- across 10 full depth slide-out stainless steel-trimmed wood shelves and two (2) partial depth matching shelves. Each door's attractive stainless steel frame encases tempered glass with a black dot matrix that offers protection from UV light, and the built-in security locks keep unwanted visitors out. Each cooling zone also has a carbon filter installed to remove odors that can affect the quality of your collection. NOTE: this wine cooler is designed to fit standard sized Bordeaux bottles.
As advertised and reviewed this cooler is great. For a side by side you cannot beat the price. The kids love that they get their own side and we love the locks.
Great Wine Fridge!
We bought this EdgeStar wine refrigerator to put into an existing space under our kitchen counter that was left open when the former owners of our house took their wine fridge with them. We have had it for three months now and are in general quite pleased with it. A few comments:
1. The 36 bottle capacity is a bit misleading. There are 12 shelves. On a shelf you can fit three sloping shoulder 750 ml bottles (e.g. chardonnay or pinot noir) by laying two in one direction and one in the other; but only two bottles if one of them has high shoulders (like merlot, cabernet, or sauvignon blanc). Also the bottom shelves are a tad shorter than the other shelves because the compressor takes up some space in the back. So unless your wine collection is all sloping shoulder bottles, you will not get 36 bottles into this fridge. Ours is full with 26 750 ml bottles and 3 375 half bottles.
2. The installation was easy, since we already had the space and electrical outlet. The one assembly step, installing the door handles, was relatively easy once we got past the feeling that peeling back the door gasket must be wrong. A tip: pull the gasket from the inner side right where the screw needs to go.
3. The fridge does make a pop when it comes on and the compression makes a soft humming sound. But we usually don't notice it with the other ambient noise in our kitchen. I would not install this in my bedroom, though.
4. The displayed temperatures on each side do fluctuate a few degrees throughout the day. We don't find this to be a problem. We have ours set on 60 F for the reds and 45 F for the whites.
5. We haven't found the soft blue lighting to be of any use, so we leave it off. The blue temperature display displays, though, are really bright. They light up a dark room, another reason I would not install this in my bedroom.
6. I was not completely convinced that we needed a wine refrigerator, until our main fridge stopped working and was out of commission for two weeks waiting for repairs. Then I was quite grateful to have the EdgeStar as backup.
The cooler came well packaged without any issues. The fridge is generally fairly quiet and holds the temperature within a degree of tolerance. The unit itself is quite attractive and works well (so far). The shelves slide out for ease of loading and selection but not far enough to read the labels. My issue is the storage capacity. If you purchase 1.5 L bottles they won't fit. Just beware that in all likely hood you will only be able to store less than the 36 bottle stated capacity in the fridge. Overall however, it is worth the money spent and I would recommend it .
I really researched wine fridges for a LONG time. Two consumer reports magazines rated this one high, one reported it as the #1 recommendation for wine fridges right now. I chose it for the capacity, dual temperature control and ability to move shelves. I put wine on upper shelves and beer/soft drinks in bottom spaces. It is quiet, easy to use (I changed temp to celsuis) and looks great. We had no delivery issues or damage.
