Cubii Jr: Desk Elliptical w/Built in Display Monitor, Easy Assembly, Quiet & Compact, Adjustable Resistance (Purple, One)

I've had the Cubii Jr for about 2-weeks and have gotten into the habit of using it on a daily basis. I did a ton of research on this product prior to purchasing as the price was fairly high and I wanted to make sure I'd use it. When it arrived I was shocked at how heavy it was! My plan was to use it during the day at my desk (I work from home on a regular basis) and move it to the TV room for the evening, that was quickly dismissed due to the weight. The one thing I noticed is when I got frustrated at work I got on the Cubii and pedaled away, after a few minutes all the stress was gone! I did have to raise my desk by 1-inch in order to use it correctly, I'm 5'4-1/2 and I couldn't cross my legs under my desk. Your knees do go up and down, not as much as similar products but make sure your desk/table will allow for enough room for your knees to comfortably move without hitting underneath the surface.

You will get a simple workout with this product, don't expect to burn hundreds of calories though! I work-out regularly but sit most of the day so I was looking for something that allowed me to move around more but still allowed me to work, this product does that. It's just an added way to get in just a little bit of extra movement.

I think this is a great elliptical but do your research before purchasing. The price is steep so make sure you'll use it on a regular basis as it's really too heavy move all over the place, too expensive to not use and too big to lay around somewhere without getting in the way. I hope this information is useful to someone!

This was a really disappointing product. Immediately after I put it together - when I first started using it - it makes an obnoxious "squeak" noise with every single rotation. The product is advertised as quiet, and I bought this for work assuming this was true. But there's no way I can use it in an office environment when it squeaks so loudly and so constantly.

EDIT: I've changed the rating to 5 stars, because the manufacturers reached out to me and told me this was a defective unit. They've sent another one at no charge, which is great customer service.

I wanted to wait until my home office was set up before I wrote this review. Today is the first day that I am using my Cubii and I have to say that my legs are already getting a workout. I have my Fitbit tracker shoved into my sock and since 8:am I have already peddled 5785 steps. The machine is super quiet and I am alone in my office so I would hear the squeaking. My old machine was very noisy. If my legs ache at the lowest setting, I am kind of afraid to turn it up until I give my legs a few days to adjust. My goal is 10,000 steps a day. I really love this little machine. What I noticed first is that you peddle rather than push out (like my old machine.) I have a standing desk and it is very easy to adjust the height so my knees do not hit the keyboard tray.

11/1/17 Udate. I gained a lot of weight when I broke my foot and ankle. I use this machine every day when working, for a minimum of six hours. Today is the first day that I have said hello to the scale since I started using this machine, and to my surprise, I have lost six pounds. I also notice that I have less plantar and achilles stiffness which makes me very happy. The Cubii is whisper quiet and has helped up well so far. Very pleased with my purchase.

I purchased my Cubii from Amazon January 9th 2018 and have it set up under my computer desk at home. I use the machine three to four times everyday 30 minutes at a time. After 6 months of use the wheels wore through the rubber pads on the base of the machine. I contacted Cubii and Justin immediately sent me two sets of replacement pads at no cost. In November my right foot pedal developed a crack at my right instep. I contacted Cubii and Ivana immediately sent me a right replacement pedal at no cost. Then on January 17 2019 my Cubii started making a loud squeaking noise and the bar which connects the right pedal to the large tension wheel broke making my machine inoperable. I contacted Cubii and Ivana once again immediately handled my issue. She emailed me a return postage label for my damaged Cubii and sent me a replacement Cubii at no cost. The Cubii is an outstanding machine and I have received great results toning my legs without experiencing any knee or leg pain. But what really stands out to me is Cubii's excellent customer service and a company that really backs their product. So if you are in the market for a portable elliptical machine you have nothing to loose by choosing a Cubii. Many thanks again to the Cubii Team!!!

Had a "generic" one of these a few years back, and it was loud/annoying, I never used it. Was pleasantly surprised with this one, took a chance and bought it on sale which was not much more than the generic one I previously purchased. The packaging was nice, it was a super easy setup. Despite what other reviewers say, this thing is incredibly quiet compared to the competition. In my open office setting, you can't even hear it at all. One thing I'd recommend is bringing another pair of gym shoes to the office and leaving them there because your current office shoes will start to smell if you continually use them with this. That being said, it's a nice way to get some simple exercise in while you do reports or just general work. For most people, you'll get more use from this than a Peloton which costs 10-15x, and for that reason alone it wins. I don't use any of the associated tracking, so I can't comment on that. The angled pedals do work well under my traditional style desk setup and I use it with both a regular office chair and an "exercise ball" balance chair with no issues.

For comparison, a standing desk only increased participant's energy expenditure by 16.7%. The average user burns 150 calories per hour. Cubii Jr's ergonomic design helps you go beyond the calories to improve your posture and engage your core. When using an elliptical machine, your feet never leave the pedals making this workout easier on your joints, particularly knees, hips and back. Other peddlers on the market tend to mimic the motion of a bike vs Cubii Jr's elliptical motion. The range of motion on a bike is typically a lot higher than an elliptical which puts more pressure on your knees. Because of Cubii Jr's patented ergonomic angles, its smooth and unconscious elliptical motion won't cause your knees to hit the underside of your desk. Unlike other bulky fitness equipment, Cubii Jr is a compact and beautiful product that blends with the interiors of your space. Because of our quality construction, Cubii is a proud winner of the 2016 GOOD Design Award. Each unit is personally inspected and tested to be whisper quiet prior to shipping. We offer lifetime warranty and customer friendly support with 30 day money back guarantee.

I’ve purchased a few ‘under desk’ or ‘couch’ pedalers in the past. They’ve all been junked bc they were either too noisy or jerky when pedaling.

Pros:

1 - Sits low to the ground, but still provides enough motion to be effective.

2 - The pedals are flat, so you are not bumping your heels on the floor (since it needs to be be as close to the floor as possible in order to also not bump your knees on your desk).

3 - Smooth and steady operation. I’d compare it to an expensive recumbent bicycle you’d use at a gym. I am a telecommuter who is on the phone with customers my entire working shift. It’s smooth enough that I can still speak and type without difficulty.

4 - Silent. No clicking. No “swoosh” noise as you pedal. Nothing.

5 - Perfect for the office! It has a handle right in the middle so it can be moved easily. You won’t annoy your coworkers with pedaling noises. It looks great, but still fits all the way under your desk without banging your knees (which is hard to find).

6 - It’s so comfortable to use, you might forget you’re even using it :)

Con:

I could only think of one con, but I’m not sure it even classifies as a “con” because the feature I missed out on IS available if you want to pay a little more.

I was a little disappointed to find out there is a bluetooth version of this machine with the ability to track progress on your smartphone. The price and average customer review rating were amazing at the time I decided to complete this purchase (Amazon deal), so I didn’t do much comparing except to what I had already purchased in the past. It would have been fun to purchase a matching Cubii for my Mom so we could compete with each other. We’re funny like that. If the manufacturer takes it upon him/herself to upgrade my purchase, I might just purchase another one for this very reason. What a perfect Christmas gift this would be!!!

I hope this helps you in your decision! I couldn’t be happier with it.

I haven't had it long enough to rate the product itself, but Cubii themselves are top notch and going above and beyond to help me out.

I ordered a used/returned product as I've previously had good success going that route to save some significant money and the difference was close to $100 this time. It was described as "used - very good condition" with the notes suggesting that there may be minor scuffs and the packaging may be damaged.

Yes the packaging was damaged, but not bad. When I opened it, however, I found most of the internal packaging was missing and the unit was just tossed back into the box with little care (e.g. the plastic bag it obviously came in was in the box, but the unit was just on top of it). The pedals had been removed and I quickly found that the screws that hold them on are missing. After checking the user guide I found that a screw driver and chair wheel stops are also missing.

There was no info in the printed or online docs about the sizes of the screws so I called Cubii to ask about the size so I could source some (took my chances, not their fault). The woman I spoke with did get the info for me, but also insisted that I let them priority mail me the missing parts! I told her she really didn't need to as it's not their responsibility, but she kept insisting.

So I can't speak much to the unit yet, but Cubii themselves get a high vote in my opinion.

What I can say so far about the unit is:
1) Wheel locks or (hopefully) their wheel stops are a MUST on surfaces where your chair rolls easily.
2) Hopefully not a common issue for anyone, but the pedals actually stay in place pretty well even without the screws (every now and then one will flop if my foot works it's way to the outer side).
3) Given how poorly packed it was coming to me (and I assume going to the return center) the unit is in good condition and appears to work flawlessly. This suggests that it really does have the quality and robustness that they advertise.

Edit:
I've been using it for a bit now so I can speak a bit more about it.

First up is that the care package from Cubii didn't arrive nearly as quick as promised, but it did arrive which is still super nice of them.

Next up is that I tried replacing the wheels on my chair with some of those roller blade style wheels. Unfortunately they only have one lock so it helped hold me in place a bit better, but not enough. The Cubii care package included the wheel stops which definitely hold me in place, but getting the chair on and off them is kind of a pain which is impacting using the sit/stand functionality of my desk as regularly.

As others have said, the motion is pretty smooth. I've been on the lowest resistance and have had no issue pedaling away most of the day. I haven't really noticed any effect from it though. I bumped it to the second setting today and while I've still kept it spinning most of the day I am feeling it some. Out of a 9 hour day I'd say I have it spinning 5 or more.

I have noticed two (good) side effects from using it:
1) I fidget (a lot) and I am finding that I fidget far less while I am actively pedaling.
2) While I'm not noticing any great changes from using it, it is warming me up enough that I don't need my space heater.

Overall I'm not expecting some great weight loss as others have claimed, but I'm happy that I'm finding I am actually using it and it's had some helpful side effects.

The Cubii Jr is so much better than I was expecting. I imagined it would just be the average piece of exercise equipment but I was wrong. The Cubii Jr is very high quality! I used to have a Schwinn recumbent exercise bicycle but didn't like the amount of space it took up so I gave it away. After seeing the Cubii Jr on Amazon I decided to give it a try and am so glad I did. It doesn't take up much space and can be easily moved. If I want it in my office, under my desk, or in the living room so that I can use it while watching TV, it's easily moved and doesn't get in the way. It has a great range of resistance and I can definitely feel it in my legs, plus it gives me a solid aerobic workout. I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

I got this for work as I sit at a desk and work on the computer all day. I've had one knee replacement and the other is looming. My knees have been getting very stiff and painful, and my legs have been aching from all that sitting and decreased regular exercise because of pain. (Sound familiar??) Then add ankle and leg swelling, too!! So I got this to keep movement and circulation going. I asked my doctor about it, too, and he highly recommended I get something like this. The very first day, even just using it a few minutes here and there, I noticed an incredible difference! It was kind of unbelievable, in fact. It's very heavy, so get it in position where you need it. I am in a cubicle, so it's just barely the right length to fit properly under my desk before it hits the cubicle panel so I can still use the computer and have my chair in the right position. It comes with a little "chair stopper" piece to fit the roller on your chair on so you don't get pushed backwards as you pedal, and it really works! If you can't get the positioning right, try a different chair. It works very smoothly without hardly any noise (just a light swishing sound). There is a wide range of tension settings which are easy to adjust. It has a nice digital read-out, but I'm not concerned about that since I'm just using it as much as I can and am not keeping track. (I admit it would be hard to read under my desk, however. If you're concerned about that, there's a wi-fi version that feeds info to your smart phone). I have it on the lightest setting at the moment so that I can use it for extended periods of time, my objective being MOVEMENT, of course. I'll adjust it up as time goes on. I highly recommend this device. I got it after researching a lot of products and kept coming back to this one. The positive customer service comments and interactions sealed the deal for me, too.

I have had this for about a month amd it works and functions really well. I use it several hours a day when I am sitting in my desk. It is a great way to exercise. I never miss an exercise because I dont have to go out of my way.

I had a FitDesk and let me say this is so much better. It is very quiet and easy to move around the house.
