If you’re looking for something to help you start a new hobby, this set is a great purchase. The materials are not high quality, but they’re perfect for a beginner looking to try their hand at cross stitch or embroidery. And for only $20, the price is hard to beat! If you discover that hand embroidery isn’t really your thing, you don’t set yourself back too much for the materials. My only drawback is that I wish it came with more purple floss!
I love this starter kit. Very useful tools included in this kit. This is perfect for cross-stitch embroidery beginners. The hoops are of good quality, needles are great, and thread color selection is very good. I've attached some photos so you can see this kit better. Hope this helps!
Bought this kit a year ago, had never cross stitched before in my life, but now I have 500 sales on my Etsy store! This kit started it all and I still have the same scissors it came with and a lot of the thread. Such a great beginners kit.
I really like this product. They thought of everything, it's a really nice starter kit. i learned embroidery via instagram videos. You can see the work I've done with this kit in the attachment. It was a nice learning process. My only feedback would be, I wish the threads had the exact color name/code on them. There are certain colors I definitely would want to purchase individually but I have no idea what would be the name of the colors I like cause there are many shades of blues and pinks in there. And none of the colors are labeled. So you never know what they're called. Unless you're an artist I guess.
This is a great starter kit. When I was a kid, my mom made me and my brothers try cross-stitching, and I always remembered it fondly. Now that I'm an adult, I wanted to try it again on my own terms.
This kit is very robust. It includes hoops in several (4 or 5?) different sizes, ranging from "normal small-ish" to "real frickin' big". The hoops seem to be high quality (easy to loosen to add fabric, but solid and unmoving when the fabric is seated).
It includes LOTS of needles. It also includes several needle threading tools, which is very convenient. There's also some basic instructions. There is also quite a stash of AIDA fabric, as well as 50 different colored threads. It also includes several (not 50) high quality, plastic floss holder things.
I only have two minor complaints:
1) The threads are not labeled with what color they are. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you have 3 different colors of orange and 8 different colors of red and you're trying to follow a pattern that calls for specific colors, it makes it a little difficult to know that you're picking the right one.
2) There are few-to-none gray colors. The project that I decided to start with called for about 6 different grays (to be honest, if I had had just one or two I could have faked it/adapted), but this kit included exactly 0. Or possibly one, but it was almost a purplish-gray color. Fortunately, there's a Joann's like a mile from my house, and the colors I needed were only $.56 a piece there. (Wal-mart also has a selection of colors, apparently, for $.43, but their range of colors is nowhere near as large as Joann's, so it wasn't worth saving 13 cents).
All in all, I would recommend this product, and I won't buy it again (because I won't need to)!

I wanted to get into embroidery and looked around for many embroidery kits and landed across this one, and I’m so glad I did! This kit is PERFECT!! It comes with everything you need if not MORE than you need!! I will definitely be ordering this kit again once I run out of the materials. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Great quality and great price. I got the exact thread colors pictured (I noticed others mentioned not getting all the colors). The wood hoops are sturdy and not warped and you get two large pieces of fabric that you can easily cut in half to make four.
I finished my first embroidery project using this kit and have no complaints. You don’t get a whole lot of every thread, but you can easily repurchase them for cheap somewhere else. I would definitely recommend this kit to any beginner.
For the price this is a great beginner kit. This was my very first attempt at embroidery and cross stitch. Much easier than I thought it would be! The downside to this kit is the fabric and needles. The fabric is very stiff and hard to work with and the needles bend easily and are blunt making it even more difficult to penetrate the fabric. I plan to purchase some high quality linen and better quality needles soon. What I really love about it are the hoops! So many sizes and quality is decent. Also love all the different colors in floss! Hope to make some beautiful pieces in the near future.
I’ve never done cross-stitching or embroidery before I got this and it’s been fun learning to use it. My boyfriend commissioned me to make this hoop to practice my stitches on so.... she’s not the best but she’s all I got for now. lol
It doesn’t have the best quality materials; however, it does have the variety you need to figure out what you personally need and prefer to use when stitching. The thimble was pretty much useless unless you bend it to fit your finger. The hoops were not sanded and you gotta tighten it real hard for it to hold the fabric securely and prevent fabric tension in your finished work. The aida is a little stiff like regular aida but it’s workable.
Considering the price of about $25, it is a good product for the price.
I gave this starter kit to my daughter-in-law for Christmas and she was excited when she opened it and saw the cute case it came in and all of the goodies inside. I liked the packaging and the quality of the product provided inside. I did add a package of needles since I didn't see any inside the package. However, everything else you need to start stitching is in this kit.
