Broan 412404 ADA Capable Non-Ducted Under-Cabinet Range Hood, 24-Inch, Stainless Steel

LOVE THIS! IT's painfully difficult to find a stainless steel range hood that is 24" AND vents inside! This thing is AMAZING in my tiny house, HIGHLY recommend- it was SOOO easy to install, and it's light weight- very powerful- and I definitely use it as a shelf, which I didn't intend to, and it's probably not made for it, but in a tiny house- the next thing I knew, I had all my spiced, oils, vinegar, sugar etc, so conveniently sitting on it as a shelf, and it holds it without hesitation. Can't say enough good things about this unit! You wont be disappointed!

If you're planning to install this hood using the power-cord kit, there is a big design flaw that makes installation unnecessarily difficult.

The power cord adapter is fitted with a connector which is about 3/4" x 3/4". It snaps in ABOVE a hole in the right rear of the hood. This requires drilling a one-inch hole in the shelf or cabinet above the hood to accommodate the snap-in piece. If your shelf or cabinet base is 3/4" thick, as mine is, the connector will be more-or-less flush with the top of the shelf. So that's fine.

BUT. To install the hood itself you first hold the hood up, mark the screw holes, then set aside the hood & insert the screws most of the way. You then (horizontally) slide the hood into the screws via keyhole slots in the top of the hood, then tighten the screws. Very easy. EXCEPT, obviously you can't slide the hood in horizontally with the cord adapter sticking out the top. Naturally, you'd think you would install the hood, then pop in the cord adapter. CAN'T BE DONE. The snap-in mechanism on the cord won't just drop, twist, coax or wiggle in. You have to get your fingers right down to the top of the hood where it snaps in. There's no room to do that if you've got a one-inch hole.

SO, if you're using the cord adapter, you either have to (a) drill a hole in the shelf or cabinet above the hood big enough to get your fingers & the adapter into (not a great solution if you're going to use the shelf) or cabinet, OR (b) put the adapter into the hood first & raise the hood into the shelf (vertically), fitting the adapter into the hole. This means you can't slide the hood horizontally into into the screws. You have to insert the screws while holding the hood in place. Although the hood is very light-weight, this is a major pain & completely defeats the purpose of the keyhole slots, designed to make the install easy.

To summarize, the power-cord adapter requires you to raise the hood (i.e., vertically) into the shelf or cabinet above it. But the hood is designed to slide in horizontally. So a big ole design flaw.

The electrical connection itself, once you get the hood in, is extremely easy to make. And the hood works fine.

The product arrived well boxed and in excellent condition. Installation was straight forward and easy if you are handy. Some knowledge of electrical polarities is essential (black is hot and white is neutral, green is ground) A second person is necessary to hold the unit in order to locate mounting screws to underside of kitchen cabinets. The unit is performing well as designed. One minor difficulty is the precut through wiring knock-out is difficult to punch out.

Functions decently and looks nice from the outside. Drawbacks are cheap plastic cover for light bulb (only encloses bulb 50%, I expect it to be covered in grease in a few months.) Also, the enclosure for the wiring isn't fully sealed, and is generally in travel path of stove exhaust, so this too will likely be grease-covered if I need to go in there for some reason. All this said, I only paid $75 overall which is pretty bottom-end price-wise for a range hood.

This works very well and looks good. When we renovate kitchen, I am going to get a ducted one though that vents outside because our smoke alarms still go off when cooking etc.

Beautiful. Works with my custom cabinet in a place that cannot be vented through the roof. Very happy.

Perfect. Not as strong as some larger may be, but it's hard to find the 24 inch for smaller spaces. I love it. Installed in five minutes. Also bought a matching backsplash

I got what I paid. It's beautiful. It will be much greater if the fan can be more powerful.

First the bad, it doesn't make sense to me to charge twice as much just because the range hood is stainless steel; the others have stainless steel, just painted over. The installation was pretty easy even though a plug in adapter was needed for this particular installation scenario.

Good value. Looks great!
